Re: The Definitive Guide to the Mob - 04/14/13 01:02 AM

I'm going to watch it, but these mafia/OC "specials" are starting to get repetitive. Dominick Montiglio, Frank Cullotta, Michael Franzese, maybe a few from the law enforcement side.. telling the same old stories. Same murders, same scams, no new info ever brought up. I'd love to see some new guy's on these shows, and hear about things that I can't read about online. Hope it's good.

Re: The Definitive Guide to the Mob - 04/14/13 04:26 AM

He claims he didn't flip and just "left the life" but I'm pretty sure he gave up info, his brother is a fucking scum bag, who wears a wire against their own dad?

He never testified against any LCN members directly but he testified before congress about the gas tax scam, testified in the Norby Walters case, and wrote a book.

vinny ,he just ratted with all he told on the show,he ratted then and played the g some how.. there is no quitting the life..in his mind he quit, maybe his father kept him alive, great show until he did not taking credit for ratting,, rumor he was a coke head then ..also he set up his friend to get killed for greed.maybe someone on here can add to this.he also says gallo killed joe c. never been proved.. then says the families did not approve hit...nonsense.. persico did not kill albert a. he should have known that..he is reading off the net on some things. but he did a great job on the show

I watched the second half of it lastnight, pretty boring weekend, but it was pretty good actually, Franzese basically chronicled his life with but with allot more details than the other times, he admits he killed someone, he talks allot about his father and barely anything about his Born Again shit, I don't mind the guy he seems genuine in everything he's saying and why he left the life

Repetitive or not, I want to see this anyway.

He also referred to FAt tony as having been the boss of the genoveses. I dont think he admitted to killing anyone, last thing these guys wanna do is give the feds a reason to come calling. As far as his brother I agree, he talked to get money for HIV meds.

Re: The Definitive Guide to the Mob - 04/15/13 02:56 AM

He said something along the lines of "When your called upon in theirs life to do something for family you do it, and when I called upon I did what I had to do, without hesitation"

somewhere in the scarpa files in 88,89 carmine persico put a green light on Michael fran. and stripd his father sonny of all his rackets. scarpa goes on to say sonny's deeply embarissed but defiant, holding on to his loyal crew of long island guys and rackets. wonder if carmine secretly put a hit out on sonny. but with all the rats it would have come out in some trial.

It doesn't work, the only thing I get is a 4-minute-video about the 9/11.

Could somebody in the USA please verify if the link does work?

Re: The Definitive Guide to the Mob - 04/15/13 08:22 PM

I just finished watching the whole thing. I'm in the US. It was good, well produced. Two things:

'Experts' often refer to some top mob guys as 'people who could be successful in legitimate business'. Michael Franzese is one of those people. Very intelligent and articulate.

The documentary would be good for people who are just starting to learn about the mob. For those who have studied the mob for a while and have a good amount of knowledge pertaining to the mob, this is merely a rehash of what we already know.

Post it up somewhere please. Im outside US, and I couldn't watch it, or on youtube HIDDEN channel, because they'll remove it if it's public smile

Re: The Definitive Guide to the Mob - 01/09/14 05:16 PM

IIRC, Franzese discussed the murder of a close friend. Supposedly, he was dating Michael's sister (I believe with his blessing). Apparently this was against mob rules and the relationship disrespected Franzese in the eyes of LCN.

Michael reluctantly agreed to having his friend whacked, as he felt he didn't have a choice. He claimed that he was unaware of the rule. Does anyone else recall this and is this still a rule in the mob?
