It was Greg DePalma's crew that initially got involved down there, Cheech. His son, Craig, who I've posted about quite often on these boards because he's such a cautionary tale, was already running a strip club here in the Bronx called Pretty Woman. But when they got to Scores they were pretty much cursed from day one. The Albanians killed a bouncer down there. Nice Italian kid. And from there the bad publicity was the beginning of the end of the crew's involvement.

High profile "nightclub." Innocent kid gets killed. Shakedown rumors start. When the Feds found out that Craig was a soldier in Junior Gotti's crew, it sent them into a frenzy because of Gotti's last name. It was one of the catalysts for Junior's downfall.

As for books, try "Jack Falcone," but I'm not sure. I'm speaking more out of neighborhood and personal knowledge. And as for you, Cheech. Stay out of the strip joint business. Dirty game. And I'm not even talking about the wiseguys whistle.

Same time frame. Tore and Zef asked Willie and Craig for help from the beginning because of their experience at Pretty Woman (for whatever that was worth). But you're technically right because Tore had his own crew by that point and outranked them. And you're right about Greg's crew blowing it up wink.

Cheech, what do you read just OC or whatever sparks your fancy? How many volumes you got? What do you think of audio books? I listened to the Falcone thing, but now wonder if I missed out not reading the hardcopy. Recall only a passing remark about the whole Scores thing. The reader did a hilarious impression of DePalma's gravely delivery. Not that I know what it was, just going by the description given.

I'm a book nut. I read everything. I have a beautiful built in bookcase in my basement and I can't fit all of my books in there. I read everything I'm interested in at the time. I just bought the Roselli book PB recommend. Used to read a lot on new world order. Read a bunch of novels. Whatever I'm interested in at the time I read about it. Magazines too. I have every magazine I ever bought since I was 13.

Not everyone but close to it. Wife hates it

How old are you cats? I'm 64 come June, just never got with the whole hip-hop boom--more of J Brown, J Wilson, Tempts enthusiast. Tho I read true crime, Rap doings just never caught my fancy. C, I ask about audiobooks? 'Nother thing, u ever do any writing? Yr magazine thing is commendable -- just long as its not 'cause they're a part of ya--don't wanna catch you on that show wink

theres also Murder Rap by Greg Kading which i think is a more recent book, Kading is an ex LAPD officer that investigated the murders. He's not really a big fan of sullivans and pretty much discounts his theories.

Check out John Potash's work on Tupac. It's entitled he FBI War on Tupac Shakur and Black Leaders: U.S. Intelligence's Murderous Targeting of Tupac, MLK, Malcolm, Panthers, Hendrix, Marley, Rappers & Linked Ethnic Leftists. It's a serious piece.

Hip Hop owes a lot to these individuals you've mentioned.

If in not mistaken didn't the Colombos, specifically Sonny Franzese try to extort that place AFTER the Gambinos already were through or are we talking the same time period?

I'm surprised FBI does not fake opening of a strip club, and just wait for mobsters to show up trying to extort them. In places like New York it would seem like easy sting operation.

Not a bad idea, Jace. But there's probably too much capital involved, and the Feds are notoriously cheap in their sting operations (except of course when they're paying scumbags like Ron Previte upwards of a million dollars, but that's another story entirely).

Plus, show me a strip joint where the owners aren't banging the whores. If the Feds played by the rules, they couldn't do such a thing. Right? The dancers would figure it out in a heartbeat because they're usually beating off the owners with a stick in those places lol.

Re: Scores and The Gambino's - 03/22/13 04:54 PM

defense lawyers would have a field day with the feds opening a strip club.. they would say now the "g" is in the pimping buss. and so on.. also a very huge investment.. feds have done stings through the years...garbage..scrape yards, gold stores.. what the feds do in the case of scores...they flipped the owners on an unrelated crime and then set up the sting through them..audio and video..that is how depalma and company get pinched

Remember when the feds took over that chicken ranch brothel ?? And it went under...Guy's with 3rd grade educations can't f**k up running a brothel..only the feds can !!!
