Not too many Philly guys on the street today out and about. Anthony Nicodemo was perhaps the most known guy you would catch out and about in bars and clubs like Quattro but since his arrest in the hit he's out. Only guy you see once and awhile is Anthony Borgesi along Passyunk at nights.

True - not too many out right now ... Maybe some of the younger and next generation guys ...

^ Yeah. Associates in their early/mid 20s that we don't even know...yet.
Due to the recent events, I guess that anyone who as some power lays real low.

Well Steve Mazzone's father in law owns Malones on 18th and ritner. Thats where the Christmas party use to be. You might catch Sonny Mazzone around Quartro but during the day not at night. He also owns Libations after hours club with another guy. He use to go up there but that was back in the day. Not sure anymore but I think he still owns it. But like most said, their really aren't any Mob Hangouts or clubs or bars like their were when Merlino was in his hey day. You may catch Anthony Borgesi or Al Lance and dom grande and some associates but thats about it. I don't go out that much so thats on memory and hear se.

Had to be the Baldino's or Dom Grande, Zee bar is a very young crowd (my sons wouldn't even go there since they are too old for that place) I doubt it would have been any of the more well known older guys still on the street. The Baldino's, Grande and that crowd have a lot of hangers on and wannabes in their group.

Zee bar? No shit. I went there last summer when I visited some friends in Philly. Fun time, nice place. We mostly stayed in the fireside lounge area except for when we ventured over to the bar in the infinity room i think it was called where after a few shots we banged on the bar and started singing an old fraternity song.

Ralph's is awesome. I have a gift certificate right now for there. Might go there next weekend. Very good Italian food.

Re: Philly mafia restaurants (present day) - 02/04/14 08:43 AM

Last summer I was in Philly and went to Pats Steaks. There weren't any wise guys there, just tourists like me. Later I was told that all the connected and made guys go to Genos.
Posted By: Jose

Re: Philly mafia restaurants (present day) - 02/04/14 11:22 AM

won't see many guys around genos .. Need to go further south on passyunk near marras and stateside .. Stogie joes also.. On a nice spring day buy a good cigar and walk that neighborhood - you'll run into a few of them
Posted By: PhillyMob

Re: Philly mafia restaurants (present day) - 02/04/14 02:07 PM

Pats sucks lol geno's is way better. But there just the landmark steak shops here in Philly but if you want real good cheesesteaks you have to go to the smaller shops in the neighborhoods.
Posted By: spmob

Re: Philly mafia restaurants (present day) - 02/04/14 02:38 PM

First...Ralph's sucks. They make money on there name. They haven't had good food in 20 years. I could give you a dozen better italian resturants than that.

Wiseguys at Genos? They don't frequent either. They are just regular dudes...If your from the neighborhood you will see them. I can eat and Pats or genos but they are fatty. Phillips is really the best. Also there is a new place calld Antees Grub that has all Filet Cheesesteaks. They are great. Stogie Joes might be the only place you might run into a wannabe or two.

Re: Philly mafia restaurants (present day) - 02/04/14 03:27 PM

I ate at Ralph's once after my sister graduated from Moore college. I thought the food was excellent. Looking forward to going back a little pricey but I have a gift certificate lol.

Steve's steaks is pretty damn good up here in the northeast by the Roosevelt mall.

Re: Philly mafia restaurants (present day) - 02/04/14 08:02 PM

They opened a Steve's on 15th or 16th and Chestnut, right before Liberty buildings, and it put Tony Luke JR's on 18th and Ludlow out of business.

Good italian food I've had is Martino's or Cucina Forte in south philly. couple good ones in Center City.

Pretty soon, The asians will be talking about south philly for good food.

Ralphs is fine, especically if you have a gift certificate.

I'm going to have to check that place out. I don't get over the bridge as much as i used to but next time i do i'll have to see what they got. Thanks.

Also have to check out the Steve's in CC that NickyWhip mentioned. I've never been there.

These days i've been eating more of the Roast Pork Sandwiches then Cheesesteaks when i'm in town. Personally i like DiNics.

Re: Philly mafia restaurants (present day) - 02/04/14 10:29 PM

Pmac your thinking of Cous' Little Italy....thats where Bruno ate his last meal. It was the Piccolo 500 before it became Cous'.

Tommy Del sold Cous' to Long John Martorano who then changed the name to Torano's. After he flipped Tommy Del actually sued Long John claiming Martorano stiffed him for money that was still owed on the sale. He later dropped the lawsuit.

After it was Torano's i think it then became Berry's Restaurant or something like that. And then someone can correct me if i'm wrong but finally i think the place was burnt down. I'm not sure whats there now....but one of the local guys here probably knows.

Re: Philly mafia restaurants (present day) - 02/04/14 11:00 PM

The roast pork with American cheese from geno's is great.

I didn't realize they opened a Steve's up downtown. I do construction I'm always in the city. There are two of them in the northeast Comly and Roosevelt blvd. and the one by the mall.

Re: Philly mafia restaurants (present day) - 02/04/14 11:58 PM

I don't think there is any spot/restaurant over there now on 11th and Christian .. It's turned residential for the most part...

If you guys ever want good food (resturant, pork, steaks, desert, break, etc) in the city PM me. I will send you to good spots...not the ones tourists and the Burbs go to.

Lol very true people just hear about the tourist spots. Like I said previously you have to go deep into the neighborhoods for the real good food. All over philly not just in south.

My family moved to jersey in 01'. I was there for a couple years and I been back in Philly but the food in jersey is terrible lmao. At least compared to Philly. All jersey has is its tomatoes and I don't eat tomatoes. So nothing for me lol

Lately i've been more into the Roast Pork and personally i like Johns and DiNic's. If you know a better place i'm game for checking it out. I'm in South Jersey and i actually like some of the Cheesesteaks around here as much as any of the ones in philly but i still haven't found a place in SJ for the roast pork sandwiches as good as the ones i get when i'm in town. So if you know of one i'm definitely up for checking it out on either side of the bridge.

Cherry Hill but might be moving to Medford Lakes in the near future.

If your on rt70 it goes Cherry Hill, then Marlton, then Medford and then Medford Lakes. Put a offer in on a place but i'm not sure if the guy will accept it. If not...i stay here in CH.

Sure...it's not far away at all....just a straight run east on rt73. I had a couple friends that used to work at Kerbecks right across the bridge from Tacony in Palmyra NJ. If you go a little further into Maple Shade theres a place called Jays Elbow Room. I haven't been there in a while but my buddy lived close by at one time and we did a fair amount of drinking at Jays.

Philly.com has a article today on Johns Roast Pork....seems he just got a new oven and his Roast Beef Sandwiches are getting some good reviews.

Always liked his Roast Pork so i'll have to check out his roast beef sandwich.

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/the-insider/Johns-Roast-Pork-has-a-new-beef.html

But if your in CC i still think Dinics is the best roast pork sandwich in town.

There is a relatively new Italian restaurant in Philly in the Port Richmond/Fishtown area. It is Eatalia and it is great stuff, IMO way better then the tourist traps, real Italian food. The guy who opened it is a south philly guy and still is

I will throw you guys one place you have to try for lunch. Its owned my Terminis bakery and is across the street from it. Its called Mr. Joes Cafe. Absolutely Great! They are only open till 5 or 6 so if your in the city before than make an order or go in and sit. Awesome stuff!

Gian Carlo - For Pork I like those places but some neighborhood places are just as good but I def like those and do frequent them. But I like to cook my own pork. I can give you some places where you can buy some great stuff...get a little provolone...fry up some longhots with a little olive oil and some fresh garlic...and your set.

Mr joes is the real deal - A south Philly bartender wrote it down on a napkin and gave me the address when I was new to the area. Never looked back: there's also a realm good deli on maybe 14th area and moyamensing - not far from broad and Oregon ... Not sure the exact cross streets or the name but the subs and hogies are real good. Just bring cash!
