cancer and OC - 02/11/13 10:49 AM

What is that the 2nd most deadly occupational hazard with these guys? Seems every dude don't take one in knot, winds up with his insides on fire.

I mean I'm no med, but but ya think that's 'cause of the marathon drinkin and smokin??

Any body ever make a count how many notable OC's faced chemo or withered from big C? crazy

I noticed that when I was younger. Seems if they don't end up trunk music they either go to jail for life and die of cancer in there,or they die of some horrific sickness on the streets anyway. It's almost like karma, they lived a life of murder and mayhem,so they'r payin for it one way or another

I've noticed it as well. It is somewhat interesting to think about. I imagine many of them are at some level in psychological pain and rely on booze and other vices more than the normal populace. Also, they're gangsters--the fast life, fast money, women, that is what the lifestyle is about for many of them. Also they largely come from working class or poor backgrounds, where health habits tend to be worse. Finally they are Italian so they love to eat.

Plus , look at the way most of these guys eat. Most mobsters seem to be overweight. All those 4 course italian meals , loaded with fatty meats , cheese , bread , etc etc eventually takes its toll on your body.

Totally.

Oh well I guess except in rare cases you don't get into "the life" because you are a paragon of discipline and prudence!

Reminds me of that scene in Goodfellas or Casino, I forget which one, when all of the old men are finally forced to testify and he pans the camera over them and every single one is either hooked to a breathing machine, in a wheelchair etc... ha!

That really happened in Family Secrets, I think nearly all those guys tried to get off by claiming some kind of infirmity so they couldn't stand trial.

Of course it doesn't appear to have been a lie, either, as Schweihs died before trial, Calabrese Sr. died this year and I'm sure Lumbo isn't in great health either.

Poor Jimmy Marcello will likely be in the joint for many, many years tho!
