Thomas Pitera and Vincent "Kojak" Giattino - 01/09/13 02:19 AM

On August 29, 1988, Bonanno family hit men, Thomas Pitera and Vincent "Kojak" Giattino ambushed Wilfred "Willie Boy" Johnson as he walked to his car and shot him to death. The gunmen fired 19 rounds at him. Johnson was hit once in each thigh, twice in the back, and at least six times in the head. The hit team then dropped jack-like spikes on the street to prevent the possibility of pursuit. Pitera had done this as a favor to Gotti.
In 1992, Thomas Pitera and Vincent Giattino were indicted and tried for the murder of Johnson. Giattino was found guilty. Pitera was acquitted, but was later convicted of six other murders.

Yeah, 225 of the 250 murders kuklinski took credit for were probably done by someone else. lol

For what its worth, i know someone who did time with tommy karate, and he said that he's quiet, stays to himself, and nobody messes with him !!

Is there a definitive article out there about how many murders the "Iceman" actually committed? My perception from broad readings is that the dude is lying about the vast majority of his criminal past. He was a low-level associate hitman whose impact has been greatly exaggerated.

Were Giattino and Pitera locked up together at one time, after they were sentenced?
It may have been incorrect, but I saw somewhere they were in same prison as each other, plus Anthony Senter too. Quite a little group.

I don't know. I know Giattino was a fugitive for a while and captured in Florida. Kojack and Billy Bright were the only guys close to Pitera that didn't flip. In Phil Carlo's book about Pitera is says Billy Bright was killed by the Aryan Brotherhood, they were hired by Mark Reiter, because his son or brother were killed by Pitera and Bright, don't know how true that is though.

Re: Thomas Pitera and Vincent "Kojak" Giattino - 02/07/13 04:22 PM

yeh when billy bright was arrested he refused to flip cause he knew how dangerous pitera was,and thought he might find him,so he decided to keep his mouth shut and do his time, but mark reiter & his family knew greg had gone to meet billy bright last, where pitera shot him in the face with a sawn-off,so mark reiter and his family wanted revenge seeing they cant touch kojak or pitera as there made guys,he targeted bright and paid the aryans "5 Grand" to do the job,the guys who stabbed him were both 3-time losers doing life.

Re: Thomas Pitera and Vincent "Kojak" Giattino - 02/28/13 03:41 PM

i dont think if tommy sweared that kojak had nothing to do with willies murder it wouldnt have helped him anyway, they had gravano who was underboss at the time telling the feds everything.

Re: Thomas Pitera and Vincent "Kojak" Giattino - 03/06/13 04:20 PM

right, but my point is that that was why they do not talk to each other anymore.

Re: Thomas Pitera and Vincent "Kojak" Giattino - 03/06/13 04:22 PM

I don't think that iceman killed anybody..from what tommy said he was a guy who came around selling stuff when he boosted stolen stuff...he was a nobody..straight from tommy piteras mouth..

Could be true.

I respect Tommy Pitera. He could have easily thrown Kuklinski under the bus and said "Yeah that guy killed all those people."

Even if he knows that, he won't admit it. He keeps his mouth shut about everything. A true old school mobster.

Re: Thomas Pitera and Vincent "Kojak" Giattino - 03/08/13 03:24 PM

all the mob guys laughed at that book.. even Anthony..carlo gave 10,000 to help him write that book and say those things...that was the biggest fraud ..iceman..lol...the mob in there hayday..with kllers like the demeo crew..anthomy senter, joey testa..other guys like tommy pitera. are gonna hire some jew to make some of there biggest hits?? NOWAY..he even tried to say he was in on the castelanno hit..demeo,galante. all the big ones. bullcrap....there is no could be true...if anybody knows ..I think tommy pitera and anthony senter..tommy lived in cell 227 Anthony 222..i lved 232..they are still in the same cell...all they BOTH said was that GUY WAS NOBODY AND LAUGHED
