The mafia in Tampa - 01/04/13 07:42 PM

Do they still have a family down there or what?

Re: The mafia in Tampa - 01/04/13 07:55 PM

Don't know if you can consider it still a family. There are a few guys, Vince LoSclazo, a young kid Albert Antinori he's the grandson of the guy who got shot in the face years ago. There's a few guys!

Yeh i am with EastHarlemItal on that they have a few made members floating around and some associates but as far as a viable family i think that went away with Santo Jr.

Its a good vacation spot for guys, a lot less heat than the Miami area.

Re: The mafia in Tampa - 01/04/13 10:22 PM

They made at least two guys in the last decade but that's somethin that could be considered activity and I wouldn't call them a family at all yet from what I can tell Iwould not say defunct either, sort of a quagmire with like 10 guys but continuing to induct new members which I find odd

Re: The mafia in Tampa - 01/05/13 02:11 AM

Below is the last list of remaining members I've seen posted by Scott D (citing a 2008 FBI list). The family is defunct. The last busts were in 2000 (when 19 members and associates were charged) and in 2004 (when 8 members and associates were charged). Even at that point what was left of the family was said to be "with" the Gambinos.

1. Francisco "Frank" Albano/73
2. Antonio Amorelli/64
3. Salvatore "Sam" Carollo/75
4. Joseph DiGerlando
5. Vincent LoScalzo/75
6. Sam Lumia Sr.
7. Michael Napoli/61
8. James Valenti/64

Are the Gambinos crew in Tampa more powerful than the Tampa mob itself?

I'd say definitely, yes.

I haven't heard anything of Albert being involved. I saw he was arrested for some petty stuff, but I'd be wary of assuming he's carrying on the family name, especially considering how respected and legit the rest are now.

I see you're in Indian Rocks part time- I live in St. Pete. Sent you a message.

It survived for about a decade and change after Santo's death, but by the late 90s, really started to fade.

One thing though if the family has been defunct since the nineties which I don't refute now, then what's the deal with the Terry Cacciatore guy who ScottD said he heard was recently made

I'm sure they still make an occasional guy so he can't be messed with if he has profitable rackets. Otherwise he just hanging out there for the pickings of others...

Re: The mafia in Tampa - 01/06/13 06:27 PM

But you know what, who are eight guys going to scare? And without the fear, these guys aren't worth their Brioni suits.

If the Commission was still intact, then maybe such a small family would still be feared because of their nationwide contacts. But I just don't see it now. If people in New York and Chicago are ratting and not afraid to walk the streets, what does that say about Tampa? Eight or ten old men aren't scaring anyone. And without that fear, the whole thing falls apart.

But that's just my opinion.

That's no bullshit about money in Tampa, though. Ever seen the Davis Islands?

Palm Beach proper has absolutely nothing on that place.

Terry Cacciatore's name actually shows up in an internal FDLE report in 1990 as a made guy. For some reason I forgot about him on that chart.

His photo is on the Tampa Mafia chart now on display at the Mob Museum in Vegas, that I donated.

I never stated that Cacciatore or Amorelli were made in 2008. Their names show up in reports dating back tot he late 80s/early 90s. Not sure where that info came from, but not from me. In fact, I don't know where any of those "made" dates came from.

Also, Sal Carollo was born in Sicily.

Might be worth me just making a new chart.

Terry caccitore died in 2001 i believe..You can see his death record on Google.. There's also a mugshot picture of him.. Nick scaglione's grandson, Terry Scaglione was recently indicted with gambino family in Tampa..I actually contacted Vince Loscalzo one time..I got his phone number from the country club he works at..His response to me in a thick Sicilian accent was "put a gun to your head and pull the trigger)-true story..Heres a link down below where you can see a family picture of Santo Jose Trafficantes family..Its from Dino Trafficante facebook page. Hey Scott, Im as intrested in the Tampa mob just as much as you are. Have you ever thought about making a documentary film on the Tampa Mob..Id love to work with you
