Re: Phil Leonetti radio interview - 12/27/12 04:27 PM

good interview, the host ask's phill his take on the recent mob hit in philly. he says he's thinks it was that "scum bag mug merlino" behind it to sink these guys trial and send them away well he collects all the spoils. i know people said that before but im starting to think it makes sense. how the hell is he boss when all the old scarfo guys are out and evem his own crew, its a insult to run a family from 600 milies away. im really starting to think he stepd down. i cant picture these scarfo guys who are his age or a little older saying he's boss, we never heard how or when he was elected boss. i think the philly guys would take him out or force him to step down. maybe when the next guy flips they'll shead some light on this story.

Re: Phil Leonetti radio interview - 12/27/12 04:43 PM

There's no way Joey was behind this, most experts think he put the current administraion into their positions and things could/would only get worse if any flipped or were sent away for many years as a result of this trial. One has to beleive the guys are on trial are his power base. Especially with the Scarfo guys getting out.

I think for any of the philly guys to look at merlino as boss is just stupid.it'd b like putn gotti back in charge and sayn well he learned from last time how to do it rite.bs.and crazy phil said in his book that the older pubgitore had his kids set up n there still set and don't need to go back........and I never said he didn't com off as smart I said I don't like him.I can't tell if he's really sincere or not.says he hated the name crazy phil but be talks about stuff almost like he's proud in the book while sauna he's not

Re: Phil Leonetti radio interview - 12/28/12 09:03 PM

Speculation on this board and on the streets of a power struggle in Philly has been the talk since a year and a half ago when Ligambi and the crew were taken off the streets. Since they were taken off most people say that Steve Mazzone and/or Johnny Chang are running things in Ligambi's absence, then came the wildcard that Joey Merlino ran things all along.

People that don't know Philly on here I have seen ask why Philly would want to put Merlino back in charge, very valid given his history or being too high profile compared to Ligambi's low key 10 year run and all but Mickey Mouse charges in that time came about. Mazzone and Chang did their time (Chang twice) but many on here and on the streets speak of all the Scarfo guys who got out wanting back in.

Here is my take.

For those that don't really know Philly history most of those Scarfo guys hated Joey Merlino, Scarfo and many of the guys back on the street wanted him whacked back in the 80's. I think the only reason he wasnt was because of his father but now with his fathers passing that could be thrown out the window to guys like the Narducci's and Charlie White's

Steve Mazzone I think could have problems staying on top by the Scarfo guys since he is regarded as Joey's guy. Johnny Chang on the other hand really came up with those Scarfo guys and is very well respected on both sides (Like Ligambi)I think he is good either way it goes if a mob war takes place

Blavat's kissed every philly mob bosses ass from Angelo Bruno on to Ligambi. In that radio interview Leonetti claimed Blavat offered to setup Frankie Flowers to be killed and offered to poison another guy. The Geator is a real piece of work.

American greed is one of my favorite shows. Fully agree too almost everyone is about someone pulling a huge ponzi. I never really understood it, when you ruin a scheme like that its not possible to get out clean, shit always hits the fan. There has been a few american greed episodes on a counterfeit money crew out of los angeles that were making serious fucking money. Episode is called "funny money" the guy who ran the crew was albert talton.

I remember that one, he's the black guy right? He was doing it on his pc if my memory is working correctly. Him and his crew put out a lot of phony money before they finally nailed him.

Re: Phil Leonetti radio interview - 12/29/12 04:41 AM

Speaking of American Greed and counterfeiters, on another show about good scams they had a real good episode on a kid and a few of his friends who were counterfeiting Canadian $100 bills close to perfection on their pc's, they passed all the counterfeit detection tools that were available at the time. It got so bad that most businesses in Canada refused to take any $100 bill. The kids name was Wesley Weber.

There was a black guy on an american greed episode probably in his 30's that produced a good amount of counterfeited money by using recycled newsprint, he was based out of L.A.. I'm sure it might be on youtube, the simplicity of it was funny because you would never expect it. He simply used the Program " Paint." They would also used aqua-net hairspray so the counterfeit detecting pens would pass it as real. They actually hit all 50 states. One of the ways the feds tracked him down was he was using his Staples Rewards card to save on ink, the funny thing is when I was on probation I worked their for about 2 years while going to college at the same time. Given the amount of profit he made, and to try and save money leaving a paper trail (No Pun Intended) cracked me up. Because everytime you brought in an empty ink cartlidge they'd give you a coupon for $3.00 off your purchase and you could use 3 of those at a time at the max. They no longer do that... but that little tidbit I remeber had me and my pops laughing are asses off hearing that when watching it

Yeah that's the guy I mentioned. Talton. Crazy his method was pretty simple.. They also caught onto one of his guys cause he was being followed by undercovers and he pulled into a popeyes chicken drive thru. Well the idiot decided to pay for his food with a counterfeit $20.. Well once the undercovers saw him pay they went inside and asked the employee for the bill. Sure enough it was a fake. For making so much money they sure did some stupid ass shit between that and the trail he left buying the ink at staples..

According to this Royal Canadian Mounted Police website Weber was also running a indoor weed grow operation near Sarnia at the same time they were counterfeiting. So they didn't need to buy any BC Bud, they were growing it.

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/pubs/ci-rc/cf/weber-eng.htm

Weber's counterfeits were the best ever in Canada.

We are still feeling that scam here in Canada. Still today most of our stores don't except $100 bills sometimes they won't even except $50.

We do have new bills now starting to come out it is so thin and sticks together stupid in my opinion.

The point is they are now starting to except these as they are new and feel no one can counterfeit it or it is to soon.

It was around 12 years ago so i don't doubt they made the currency more secure. Same thing down here in the states, a bunch of new anti counterfeiting measures with the new bill's.

What made that case so good was that his $100's at the time passed all the tests for counterfeiting that were available at the time he was printing them, and from what i remember he did it all on a desktop pc with some decent software like photoshop. Same thing with the guys in LA, i'm pretty sure they used a pc and photoshop too. I think the latest printers, scanners and photoshop have some security measures built into them so that they can't be used to make currency. You actually get a warning that it's illegal to counterfeit or something like that when you try to scan a bill. I've read that a couple times over the past couple of years.

Your right, i think they were called super notes or something similar to it. Iran was another country that made great counterfeit US currency. When the Shah was in power we gave him the identical presses and paper that we used to produce our currency at the time. After the Shah was thrown out they started up the counterfeiting to support their revolution or so the story goes. All they needed were the plates, they already had the correct printing press and paper to produce US currency. I think there's a good chance Iran sold North Korea the presses and technology that the Korean's used to make those Super Notes which were almost perfect copies of our $100 bill. Even banks had trouble identifying the bogus bills. They were that good.
