Most Feared (Free) Mobster Today? - 08/07/12 06:46 PM

Who do you think has the most fearsome reputation of current mob guys on the streets today? Obviously we know of guys who are serving life sentences etc but what about walking the streets now? One's known for murders etc.

In recent years I remember the feds saying Timo Fiurama had a fearsome rep on the streets.

thats who came to mind for me as well. obviously at his old age he wasn't gonna get it done himself, but it was said that he just had a real serious demeanor, one of those guys that if you wronged or disrespected him you very well might just disappear. in terms of present guys i'm not really too sure. this is a great topic though and i'm sure to learn something so good work sir!

Joe Bravo (or real name Juan Ramon Paz Fernandez) Although he was deported to Spain, many believe he'll find his way back to Canada sooner or later.

TiNo is dead. John Difronzo is not in jail. Quit Dom is out there, and probably on a ruling panel or something.

The great thing the Genoveses have going for themselves is that nobody on the internet, and maybe even in Law Enforcement, knows what's going on at the top. In twenty years, we will probably know what was going on today.

I read an artice a couple of years back, maybe a gangland one saying how Danny Marino had a pretty fearsome rep on the streets. He is currently imprisoned though.

Yeah. Marino had (still has?) a wild temper.
There is a footage of him throwing punches during a wild brawl in a Vegas casino. This was shown in a John Gotti documentary produced at the time of Gotti´s conviction. The narrator asked the question who was likely to succeed Gotti as boss. If I remember correctly, the feds (according to the narrator) had ruled out Marino because of his anger management problems. I´ll see if I can find the footage on youtube.

Most of these mobsters do have a rep of being extremely short fused more or less.

Twenty? Fifty years would be a better prediction. We still don't even know who was the top boss of the Genoveses before the Chin came to power.

And before some smartass says it was Lombardo, fact is that we don't know.

Great point we still don't know who was boss then . But i still think 20s more accurate considering the amount of informants nowadays .

We don't know, and at this point, we'll probably never know. I'm no fanboy, but I respect the way the Genoveses keep their top ranks secretive and they seem to survive the onslaught that is the U.S. Government.

Re: Most Feared (Free) Mobster Today? - 08/10/12 04:19 PM

I won't speculate on who is the "most feared" because it would only be conjecture and it's not worth arguing about. The bottom line is, why would you fear one guy who's capable of ending your life any more than another guy who's capable of ending your life? They can only kill you once, right?

Re Barney: They waved the death penalty because not only did they know they had no case, but they also knew that he wasn't guilty. Now don't get me wrong, I have no illusions about who Barney is and what he's capable of, but trust me on this: Barney loved Ralphie. If he wasn't in prison at the time, Ralphie would still be here.

I mean, if the feds knew they had a guy who was once the street boss of the Genovese family dead to rights, would they let him plea out to mail fraud? Never in a million years. They would have taken pleasure in prosecuting him. And God bless his daughter, Sabrina. If not for her heartfelt plea and intelligent argument as a lawyer, that judge certainly would have given Barney the max on those mail fraud charges.

Re Stevie: I never read that about Stevie having a violent side in Capeci's column. But I can tell you from neighborhood chatter and having a few friends in common, that when he was younger, this tended to be true. You didn't want to be around the guy when he was in a bad mood. But I think, like most people, he has mellowed with age. And when you get that high up (whether he's a skipper, consig, underboss or boss), you can't be smacking people willy-nilly because they gave you a funny look in a bar or restaurant.

I'd say Bellomo. There's no way that guy isn't active he's probably on a panel right now. He's easily one of the top gangsters in New York. Perhaps John DiFronzo. He certainly is on the streets directing things, but as to how much bark he has now that can't be certain.

I don't think the outfit is even equal to the Colombos.

According to this they have 28 made men and the columbos are estimated at a little over 100.

how could they have 28 when there is a chart showing they have over 100? maybe the chart has some mistake but they still have at least 75 made guys

I have a chart that puts them equal to the Colombos. I'll post it.

I'd trust a FBI agent over a chart most likely made by some random guy on the internet .

Where would a guy find all that shit? Would he not base it off pretty solid information?

when an fbi report comes out that stats 28 made guys and a chart lists alot more than that, i didn't even count, you gotta start asking questions. another problem with that chart is it seems they wanna list everybody who may or may not have ever done business with the outfit as an associate.

Very true. I always imagined the Outfit being a lot bigger. I didn't think they had 200 soldiers or blown up shit like that, but at least 80 or 90 was my first guess

Re: Most Feared (Free) Mobster Today? - 08/26/12 03:57 AM

how would an FBI Agent know the exact membership. Alot of the names on that chart are real and not made up

Re: Most Feared (Free) Mobster Today? - 08/26/12 04:01 AM

nobody said they would know every name, but when they cite 28 and some random chart cites over 100 you gotta lean way closer to 28. then you have the same old arguement of what a soldier means in chicago as compared to other families and its not a very enjoyable subject to discuss. there are countless threads on here about the subject though, so search them out as some of them are filled with very good info.
Posted By: NickyEyes1

Re: Most Feared (Free) Mobster Today? - 08/26/12 04:03 AM

i counted and it says 90 but counting ones who may actually not be made and ones who are are made but not on the chart my guess is between 75 and 115.

Going back to the original subject. Five Felonies what mob guy on the streets is most feared in your opinion?

Re: Most Feared (Free) Mobster Today? - 08/26/12 04:19 AM

Regarding that chart - it's accurate, but with two big caveats:

1) It goes ahead and lists all the guys who aren't formally made but might as well be as "soldiers".
2) Its definition of "associate" is extremely broad and includes just about anyone who can be linked to the outfit somehow.

I've been unable to confirm this, but I've been told that half the "associates" listed are legitimate businessmen who have used the services of a business linked with an actual mobster - and some of the aforementioned listed "associates" are in fact nothing more than loansharking customers. ohwell
Posted By: NickyEyes1

Re: Most Feared (Free) Mobster Today? - 08/26/12 04:24 AM

that still technically matches the definition of associate
