Sonny Black´s voice? Listen here... - 06/26/12 07:07 PM

The Pistone book is also available on audio. It includes wiretaps. Click on the link and then on "Hear sample" to hear a conversation between Pistone and John "Boobie" Cerasani before Sonny Black enters.
A pet lion, that apparently cost Lefty 10,000 dollars in fines, is discussed as part of the conversation with Boobie.

I had just downloaded this audiobook a short while ago at this shop. There's nothing better than to hear Pistone himself telling you his story, it's like you are experiencing it right there with him. But note that this is a shortened version.

Awesome, thanks. Now all we need is Tony Mirra's voice.

The voice reveals a lot of things...

Thanks i have been looking for more of donnie brasco wiretaps. Now i know why everyone seemed to love Boobie he was a funny and carefree kind of guy. Also it was good to hear Sonny's voice he sounds like a stone cold gangster. Also it was good to see the close relationship between a mere associate like donnie and a capo. Also listening to lefty and donnie go at it is always hilarious they fought all the time lol

Absolutely. Note Boobie´s voice which sounds "soft" in some way. And Pistone´s voice seems to change into a brownnoser´s when speaking to Sonny Black.

I think Tony Mirra was caught on wiretap. But I don´t know if the audio book has anything on him. Sonny Black (the poster in here), (or anybody else who have downloaded the book) might be able to tell you.

lol mirra - now that would be good.. theres many voices I would love to hear - Roy Demeo (not sure if the one in backyard video is roy?), Gerry Pappa, Don Carlo (will never happen, don't think fbi got him on any wire), more of Tommy Pitera (lol lol), Carmine Galante, John Carneglia.... thanks for sonny though

Boobie, Lefty he's across the street putting the lion in the truck

I know they are gangsters and they kill people but the way he suckered these guys in and then the betrayal, kinda stinks - even though I know they themselves have set countless people up to be killed, but Donnie must have knew when he was taping them that none of them would rat and they would be killed for letting a fbi agent into the crew

I actually remember reading that they did have Gambino on wiretaps, though he never said anything incriminating.

Yeah. I figured I'd bring fat Carl to the table and show them what a real gangster is.

What ever happened to the lion?
Well, according to Pistone, Lefty had to get rid of it. "It´s tearing up the walls in the warehouse [where the lion was being kept]. It eats the wires....
One night they loaded the lion into a van and took it to a park in Queens and tied it by its leash to a bench.
Lefty called me. "Get today´s Post. They found our lion. It escaped. They got it at the ASPCA [animal shelter]. The lion is making some news. It´s all over television. Pretty bastard.""

///From The Herald Statesman, Nov 12, 1980:

"Lion found in Queens"

"A young male lion, at first mistaken for a dog, was found in the driveway of a Queens home late Tuesday and taken to a Manhattan animal shelter, police report.
The cat, about a year old, was found by Albert Sima of 173-26 Effington Ave. in the Fresh Meadows section around 11:45 p.m. The animal was wearing a collar but no identification tags. Police said they have no idea where he came from. Police initially called for a tranquilizer gun, but later found the beast to be rather friendly. "He was so docile he was like a big pussycat," said the desk officer of the 109th Precinct. He said police officers took the animal to the precinct stationhouse and then to the animal shelter at 73rd Street and First Avenue in Manhattan."
