Black Sabbath MC Leader Gunned Down - 05/19/12 04:03 AM

Last Friday, the San Diego chapter president of the Black Sabbath Motorcycle Club was shot to death in front of the group’s clubhouse. The murder of 51-year-old Clyde “Wild Dogg” Thompson came as a complete shock to the club and the community as the Black Sabbath MC is not known as an outlaw group. Since Thompson’s death, the club has been overwhelmed with support from other chapters, other clubs, and the general public, while the killer remains on the loose.

The Shooting
The shooting took place last Friday morning while Thompson and a fellow member of the Black Sabbath MC worked on a bike in front of their clubhouse. Out of nowhere, a SUV came speeding up to the clubhouse as a young black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt jumped out of the vehicle and proceeded to shoot Thompson multiple times. Thompson was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died of his wounds just hours after the shooting.

Remembering Clyde “Wild Dogg” Thompson
The friends and family that knew and loved Clyde Thompson are at an utter loss as to why anyone would want to murder him. Thompson first joined the Black Sabbath MC as an honorary member, but worked his way up to president through hours of charity work. It was just last year that Thompson took over the troubled San Diego chapter and showed incredible leadership in reestablishing the club as a prominent San Diego charity organization. Thompson is survived by his long term girlfriend, two daughters, and seven brothers and sisters.

Black Sabbath Motorcycle Club: “A Breed Apart”
President Wild Dogg’s murder is all the more confusing as the Black Sabbath MC strove to distinguish itself from outlaw clubs such as the Hell’s Angels. The club was founded in 1974 by seven African-American men, some who worked with the U.S. Navy and others with San Diego Gas & Electric. Since then, the club has grown to include chapters all across the United States, but the San Diego chapter will always retain special status as the mother chapter. The club’s motto, “A Breed Apart,” clearly states their intention to steer clear of the lawlessness of other motorcycle clubs.

No Arrests As of Yet
Police are still searching for any clues that might help lead them to the killer. According to San Diego Police Sergeant Jorge Leon, “No arrests have been made. We are continuing to investigate this homicide.” Meanwhile, the Black Sabbath MC is committed first and foremost to supporting the family Thompson left behind.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The gunman who killed the head of San Diego's Black Sabbath Motorcycle Club in front the group's clubhouse near Mount Hope Cemetery was at large Sunday.

Clyde Major Thompson Jr., 51, of National City, was shot while he and another man were working on a bike in front of 4280 Market St. about 10:50 p.m. Friday,

"He was a problem-solver, he was not a troublemaker," John Bunch, the national president of the club founded in San Diego, told the U-T San Diego, speaking from Georgia. "We're very shocked and waiting with patience and prayer to find out exactly what happened."

The gunman, described as a young black man in a black "hoodie" and black shirt, opened fire from an SUV, San Diego police Lt. Ernie Herbert said. The SUV was last seen eastbound on Market Street.

Thompson, declared dead at a hospital about 11:35 p.m. Friday, was known among club members as "Wild Dogg," according to the club's Facebook page.

He is survived by his long-term girlfriend, two daughters and seven siblings, according to the club, which said he took over as president in 2011. The club said it was cooperating with police and would "exercise calm, patience and discipline as we work through this process."

The Black Sabbath Motorcycle Club was founded in 1972 by seven black men who rode on Sundays, according to the club. The clubhouse was established in 1974.

The Mighty Black Sabbath M.C. Nation, with its headquarters in Atlanta, has 17 chapters nationwide. The San Diego chapter is known as the "mother chapter."

Police asked anyone with more information about the killing to call detectives at (619) 531-2293.

Black motorcycle club? Though if the club is 100% law abiding, I'd bet his murder may have had to do with something he was into. Not something illegal per se, I don't know maybe he was screwin' around with someone's wife or something. He was certainly targeted, as a MC member is not hit by accident or mistaken identity

Could be members of his club wanted to start doing illegal activities and he was in the way, or it could just be local gangs.

Theres quite a few black mcs. Some of which have been busted recently for violence and drugs.

Beside the wheels of soul mc, there are a few more black OMG such as the outcasts and sin city disciples mc. Yet they aren't that mainstream nor does seem to be deeply investigated. When it comes to black biker gangs there are limited to no information on them.

We got the Zodiacs (older-Jazz District) and I wanna say Street Savages (younger-39th) in KC, but they aren't 1% clubs. I saw a some Galloping Goose and Zodiacs come across each other at a gas station on 89th & 71Hwy. It was cool, just passed by, nodded at each other, and admired bikes. I think Wheels of Soul are a 1% club, and they had a bust in STL within the last couple of years. I see them on I-29 on occasion. The Black mcs have a rally called the Roundup every year. Headquarters in KC, event in Texas this year.

The Wheels of Soul have around twenty chapters yet the FBI don't release any indepth information on them. Are there any black 1% club that is international?

Black Sabbath's album 'the Mob Rules' is one of my favorites. I know this has nothing to do with this thread...just sayin'
