2007 Lucchese arrest affidavit - 03/29/12 06:53 AM

This is the original warrant affidavit when all the Lucchese guys in Jersey were arrested back in December 2007. The actual indictment came out in May 2010.

Anyway, besides being the original source of the chart we've all seen, as well as a breakdown of the defendants, it also gives a very detailed and in depth look at the bookmaking business. The whole thing is almost 200 pages but is very interesting. Here's the link below for any who haven't seen it before.

Thanks for posting Ivy, did not see this one before. Those typed out wiretap transcripts are great. That first conversation between Perna and Spears is funny, two very different criminal cultures meeting there.

I think they are all still under indictment.

Extremely interesting to read the affidavit. Thanx for posting Ivy. I have always believed that the Lucchese members in NJ were all under one captain (Ralph V. Perna). But it seems here that Capra also had a smaller crew established in New Jersey. And it looks like the Taccettas enjoyed a somewhat quasi independence before Capra was brought in to settle beefs between them and the Pernas.
Or have I missunderstood the affidavit?

The Luccheses have one Jersey-based crew, which the Pernas, Taccettas, Scarfo Jr., and others in this bust (not including DiNapoli or Madonna) are a part of. Capra is based in the Bronx, but like other NY based crews, may have interests in New Jersey. I thought it was funny how DiNapoli described the Pernas and Taccettas as the "Hatfields and McCoys."

who does everyone think are the most influential in new jersey after the genovese family? i tend to think it would be the decalvacantes, but what about the philly influence or the lucchese jersey faction which seems to be much weakened, or any of the other families?

It's the Genovese family by far. No other family is even close, including the DeCavalcantes. The Genovese family has around 5 crews in Jersey who's number of members and associates are bigger than the entire DeCavalcante family or the other 4 NY families members and associates there combined, for that matter. The Genovese control the biggest gambling and loansharking operations in the state, as well as have most of the labor racketeering. There are still a few guys in the Bruno family's North Jersey crew but most of the family's activity is in South Jersey. Jersey is like another borough for the Genovese.

I have to believe that the Lucchese Jersey faction is more powerful than the Decavalcantes are at this point.

But the Genovese family is probably more powerful in Jersey than the Decavalcantes, the Luccheses and Philly combined.
