Kenny "Kenji" Gallo is out there... - 03/10/12 02:34 AM

You just have to hear him talk. Kind of a strange person if ya ask me. Kenji was once an associate of the L.A. Crime Family and also the Colombo Crime Family before turning into an informant for the FBI. He was a huge dope dealer as well.

I am not sure I would classify him as a huge dope dealer, but he is a legend in his own mind thats for sure.

Kenny's a local boy for me so he's always garnered interest from me, other than his extremely coincidental contact with the Colombo's after 9/11, I think he's just a rich thug more than anything else. He made a ton of money with cocaine and then porn (he wouldn't have made a dime if he got into porn 5 years later than he actually did).

A few years ago OC Weekly, a local alternative press did a cover on him. It mostly was about a murder of a restaurateur, Joey Avila, which still remains unsolved. There was some very interesting stuff on a guy named Mike Marvich.

Unfortunately if you google Marvich, most of what comes up is from Kenny's sites, however I can attest to tell you that Mike Marvich was the kind of guy who could put Roy DeMeo's East Coast crew to shame. Mike didn't kill the amount of people that DeMeo's crew did, but the simple fact that I'm comparing the two shows just how fucking gnarly this dude was.

Here's page 5 from the article:

Trust me, even before I read this article I was familiar with the name Mike Marvich from reading Hollywood Goodfella. This man was no joke, I liken him to a West Coast Supreme Team (the crew that shot 50 Cent) or a one man Cocaine Cowboy. Someone not be fucked with.

Actually after reading more about Marvich, he's more like a West Coast Whitey Bulger or Greg Scarpa. No joke one either comparison.

Put Roy Demos crew to shame?????????????????? I think that most people on here or anywhere would agree that there is no need to comment any further

Re: Kenny "Kenji" Gallo is out there... - 03/11/12 12:12 AM

but I am going to comment further cause this is ridiculous:

1. did he kill over 100 people?
2. did he chop up their bodies and put them in various trash bags around town?
3. did he shoot them in the head, wrap a towel around it then stab them in the heart to prevent it from pumping blood everywhere?
4. did he assemble a crew of people that would kill people on command yet end up killing 50 percent of them himself?
5. Did he personally take part in the decomposure of those ordered killed even tho he had total control and command of his crew?

You're goddadamn right he could have. First off, this is the west coast, we don't have as nearly sophisticated criminal organizations as the east coast. Don't try to retort with the Mexican Mafia or biker gangs. Biker gangs are nomadic and turfs are limited to drug profits, prostitution and tattoo parlors. That and biker gangs can be intimidated with force and violence.

Our most sophisticated criminal organization out here, the Mexican Mafia (I'm not counting the cartels as they are international and foreign in origin, that and they have strongholds through out various cities, their not headquartered or feel most comfortable out here, it's through out the United States) are primarily prison based and have a loose authority over a network of many, many street gangs. That's real power right there. Though it's not nearly as strong as the mafia held it's power through NYC streets.

Mike Marvich was a lone-wolf criminal who got away with several murders and made tons of money, dying free and out of jail in 1999.

You're goddamn right I think he could have ran with, frightened or killed several members of the DeMeo crew.

He killed a near dozen people, never earning suspicion nor never attracting police attention. He also died a free man, which most, if not all of the DeMeo crew did not achieve.

So less than 12 murders puts 70+ to shame?. Exaggerate much? If this Marvich fellow was such a prolific killer why has no one ever heard of him except people from his street lol. Why do you feel it necessary to grossly exaggerate? How many did he really kill because first you said he killed a few and then when you were called out you upped it to "nearly 12" so what is it?

I heard of Mike Marvich, he was a killer, but he was only busted for two murders, and they were the only ones he was known for. Demeo was definitely more of a killer and cold blooded guy than Marvich, that's for sure.

Who cares? They are dead and most likely way down south of the ground we walk on.

God only knows how many people he killed or murders he participated in. It's the fact of location that ties in heavily with murder rate. Very rarely do serial killers on the West Coast, or at least outside of California (the Green River killer comes to mind) reach the amount of victims that come anywhere near Midwest or East Coast killers. A killer from Alaska with 10 murders, hits (if their gangland) would be a tremendous feat, far more difficult that a killer in New York, Florida or Illinois.

Why do you suppose that is? Are the police more thorough in California than NY? In Canada all criminal offenses are virtually the same regardless of the province and from what I understand laws in the USA can be drastically different from state to state. Do the NY laws make it easier to get away with murder?

Little of both; this part of the country's been settled for 150 years. Long time, but compare that to the rest of the United States, nearly 400. It's a far longer time for people to acclimate and become intro woven into it. It's the reason why we're not as affectionate as those in the South, everyone is related or familiar with their neighbor's and kins, here no one has similar struggles or life's obstacles.

Law enforcement is though, probably the biggest reason. I'd like to say it's a matter of corruption. Our cops are more by the book and eager to get their hands dirty, by which I mean eager to assault crime in it's self. Notice that quite a few police brutality or officer related homicides come from here. One may think of California's reputation for liberalness and hippies would create a difference in Police ethos, however their is a distinct lack of good-old boy values and more of a Us vs. them mentality in law enforcement out here.

Our criminal organizations are also vastly different, where upon their based on poverty and unfamiliarity with assimilation into American culture. East Coast, whether you're Italian or Puerto Rican, if you've been in this country for several generations their is still a familiarity or respect for organized crime. Most wiseguys come from stable upbringings and it's their culture or associations with friends and blood family that either push or pull back from criminal or anti-social attitudes. Same for Puerto Ricans and often less, with more recently arrived Dominicans.

That doesn't occur here, there will always be very, very strong Hispanic, and particularly Mexican OC and gangs, due to culture and geography with Mexico, however black OC and black gangs are, and have been on the down slope since the 90's. I'd figure it's the Midwest and East Coast where gang numbers are rising.

However it's California that started the skin head, white power culture. That's a whole other discussion that I'd love to post on. But it's almost 10 AM, I'm still a liiitttle bit sleepy and gotta get ready for class. smile
