Mean Streets on Net 5 (last Friday) for the Dutch members

Did any of you see Scorsese's Mean Streets last Friday night? If so, what did you think of it? I taped it and watched it yesterday...

It was definitely not a slick gangster story ....I was surprised at the lack of hits, the lack of formality and at how patient some of the characters were with Johnny...and how retarded they all looked during the pool hall fight sequence

I thought it was terrible how Michael's hitman shot at the car that Charlie was driving....I am not sure but wasn't Charlie, Michael's cousin or something?

Anyway if you missed it, maybe I can send it to you on VHS?

"Mean Streets" is one of the greatest films ever. Unique viewpoint for a gangster movie. Keitel's greatest performance. DeNiro's second-best, after "Raging Bull."

Turnbull's constant nagging about this film made me curious (just kidding TB), but the time it was on (01.00!!!) was a negative point. as it turned out, I was still awake at the time and started to watch, but I was in fact too tired to see it till the end. I think I saw it for 45 minutes..... I can recall the pool hall fight and the guy shot in the toilet and then walking outside before falling down.

I feel a little bit unsatisfied now for not having seen the end of it.....

Great movie. Really great. I taped it off WGN about 3 months ago. Scorsese's style really emerges here. Cool story, awesome directing, and a masterful job by Keitel and De Niro. De Niro's scene in the back of the bar explaining to Charlie why he couldn't make his payments is so classic.
