I know this isn't exactly a Mob film. But if anyone saw it, why were Orto and Alfredo grabbing each other at the end?

Did Alfredo commit suicide at the end? I thought he laid across the tracks unlike the way they did when they were kids?

Damn amazing movie, makes me want to see the whole 6 hour version. Why did Alfredo wait 20 years to commit suicide on a train track?

I think the final sequence is just supposed to be a mataphore for the constant conflict between the upper and lower classes. I think what 1900 is realy about is how the poor suffer from the carlessnes of the rich. I'm still not sure if Alfredo killed himself, and if he did I don't know what the significance of it is in relation to the rest of the story.
