New Mob TV Series - 07/28/20 11:47 PM

I'm in! If Pileggi and Winter are involved, I'll be eagerly anticipating this!

"According to Deadline, a new mob series is currently being developed by a couple of people who certainly know their way around stories involving organized crime. Terence Winter, best known for The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, is penning a series for Showtime which is inspired by Nicholas Pileggi's "in-depth chronology of organized crime in America — which is also the history of corruption in America — as seen through the eyes of the mafia’s First Family." That's pretty much all the info we've got at this point, but it sounds good to me.

Nicholas Pileggi is best known for "Wiseguy: Life in a Mafia Family" and "Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas," two non-fiction novels which became Martin Scorsese's GOODFELLAS and CASINO, respectively. Pileggi co-wrote those scripts with Scorsese and also served as an excecutive producer on THE IRISHMAN as well as Ridley Scott's AMERICAN GANGSTER. Terence Winter and Nicholas Pileggi will executive produce the new untitled mob series along with Brian Grazer. While I'm certainly down for these guys to explore the world of organized crime once again, their previous work has set the bar awfully high, but I've got my fingers crossed that we've got another mob classic in the making."

Terrence Winter was just on Talking Sopranos and didn't mention it. Strange.

A story about the Morello's could be really good though.

Historically, The first Mafia Family in America was established in New Orleans but there's some debate.

A TV show about the New Orleans mob would be interesting. it's a subject that has not been much covered by TV and movies.

Dificult to say but it's likely. On March 17, 1866, the Louisiana Bureau of Immigration was formed and planters began to look to Sicily as a possible solution to their labor needs. 20 years later they created "Little Italies" all over the US.
