Lol, it was shit. But to be honest I expected much worse.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/26/17 07:19 PM

Looked good. Well shot. We'll have to see if the movie overall is any good but the production looks good.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/26/17 07:39 PM

I think it didn't look that bad at all..

I'm also not ashamed to say that at the end, with the Inception horns combined with Travolta's gravelly voice, I even got a few goose bumps LOL

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/26/17 07:58 PM

Overall I thought it looked pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I could do without the Junior Gotti "I would follow my father off a cliff" narrative but I get it. That's what it's all about with this movie.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/27/17 02:52 AM

I was ready to hate this film mainly because it was shot in Ohio and the short guy from Entourage directed it. I gotta say, it looks pretty good. I'm excited to watch it.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/27/17 03:27 AM

Looks terrible. Just my opinion. Time will tell but I'll be shocked if it gets a theatrical release. It might be worth streaming, though.

Side note: It looks like Gotti is saying a prayer at Frank's grave. The HBO movie with Assante made the same mistake. Frank Gotti is in the family crypt in the mausoleum at Saint John's. But I understand the directorial license.

Armand Assante takes Travolta to school doing Gotti.

I have some inside shit about those massage palors. I actually knew one of the guys. It got to the point where nobody wanted to be in the same room with him.

That was embarrassing to watch.I bet the movie is going to be a 2 hour gotti robin hood lovefest. You know how corny it is when a family gets involved.

so what's this movie going to add that the HBO movie already didn't tell us?

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/27/17 12:45 PM

It's a gangster flick with a big star about the John Gotti. Pay your $10 and see it you cheapskates. Or go watch a romantic comedy which suits you better. Sorry the producers didn't consult the "expert" posters on this board. I'm going and will enjoy it.

If they had a no name actor playing Gotti you guys who cry too. Travolta is a good actor.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/27/17 01:25 PM

First of all I don't know how there is a demand for a movie about Gotti twenty years after he was last relevant.

Second of all it looks like a Lifetime action movie with Gotti in the Liam Neeson role.

At least Martin Scorsese had the foresight and intelligence to not depict these monsters as antiheros in his mob movies.

He portrayed the realism and grittiness of the life.

This looks like a fable, a love letter to Junior Gotti.

Too much creative control from the Gotti's, and a servile director from an upper class family who probably grew up with Gotti and Tupac posters on his bedroom wall.

I shudder to think how it's going to handle Frank's death and the murder of Fava; I pity their family having this degenerate crap brought back to the surface again.

Must say, cinematography looks on point and Travolta looks decent, but apart from that, it looks like paint by numbers stuff.

Don't see what it will add to the previous movies apart from Junior's stamp of "authenticity".

Stream it. Don't put money in these scumbags pockets.

I agree.Scorcese would of told Jr to fuck off. There was no way He would of Made john gotti a hero type if he directed it

I always said if they were going to do a gotti movie it should be robert deniro as gotti Joe pesci as sammy Gravano and martin scorcese for director.

Why the fuck cant they make a movie about Carmine persico his story is 1000x more interesting than gotti.I know he isnt as well known but at this point i really dont think the young generation even knows who he is inless they follow this type of stuff

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/28/17 08:34 PM

The music at the end of the trailer is ill advised on at least two different levels that I can think of.

Even if the movie is trying to glorify a low life criminal it's still unintentionally hilarious.
Posted By: Malandrino

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/28/17 09:37 PM

Moe, come on. Junior signed off on this project. Probably his money paying for the movie. "Glorifying a criminal?" Come on, man. What did you expect? Not many gangster movies around who don't glorify them, to some extent at least.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/28/17 09:40 PM

Goodfellas and Casino didn't make their main characters likable people to Scorsese's credit, but I'm aware there are plenty of examples to the contrary.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/28/17 09:50 PM

The words at the very end read (i'm paraphrasing) "He showed the world who was boss".....

We are talking about a degenerate gambler who drew so much heat and attention to the Gambinos that he practically destroyed them.

Then "after" he nearly decimates one of the best most well oiled crime families in history, he winds up in a supermax for the rest of his short life.

He really showed the world who was boss alright.

One more thing.....
Did anybody catch the little scene with Willie Boy? That was a brilliant piece of casting (NOT) some skinny little american looking guy with curly hair. You mean nobody in the casting dept ever saw a picture of the real Willie Boy Johnson? Even the budget movie "Sinatra Club" got closer to the real Willie Boy.

They also have "Curly" playing "Quack Quack".

The HBO movie so far is looking way better.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/28/17 10:17 PM

I had to laugh when his wife says "he provides" in the trailer.

It's common knowledge that his income (or lack thereof) and inability to support his family was a source of constant strife between the two of them in the 60's and 70's.

He was a degenerate gambler and deadbeat who couldn't stay out of prison, even when he was boss.

We are talking about someone who hustled his wife and newborn child out of a hospital in the dead of night because he was too broke to pay the bill.

And you have to laugh when it's said that people who owe gambling debts to mobsters deserve to be beaten, as if it's one rule for guys like Joey Merlino and John Gotti and another for Joe Shmo.

Guys like Merlino and Gotti were bosses and they constantly racked up debts they couldn't/wouldn't pay!

Adam Beach from Flags of Our Fathers would've been a better casting choice.

Guy who plays Ruggiero is a good actor, and likeness, though.

Touché.

I also find this to look suboptimal.

Btw, they make it look like Dellacrose is still alive after Castellano is shot.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/28/17 10:34 PM

Junior is probably the main man on this project, the adviser, and probably the one who decides which scenes make the cut or not. I bet he's so excited he's probably wet his pants when watching the trailer. Even though John Gotti loved publicity I really doubt he'd like this shit if he were alive.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/29/17 03:01 AM

Forwhatever its worth the gotti family will make acouple million of this project. I thought it was gonna look realy bad it wasnt that bad. The jonny depp blackmass movie looked great the plot blew. Jr and his 2 sister n mom will get a nice check. I watch on gomovies or watever free movie place on the web probaly not cause travolta i dont no. Scientology is so weird and the gay spa hand job shit. Bad gotti. But theyll make a buck so i guess crime pays for some. A very small few. Not me im going back to jail. Wwaaaaa

right......with his crew members earnings. So basically his crew paid off his debts and they had to resort to dealing drugs to earn

Yup what makes it worse is that this is basically a gotti fluff piece and the gottis had a lot of say in the portrayal. So we will be seeing gotti as a cool robin hood figure instead of the degenerate gambling egotistical murdering moron that he really was

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 09/29/17 10:35 PM

Oh yeah, he's gonna be portrayed as the ultimate family man, only used violence when he had too and was good for the neighborhood..Just ask John Favara !!

Actually they made Lefty out to be a pretty decent guy who just happened to be friends with Nicky/Tony Spilotro. Show what he did that made him look "unlikable"? Come to find out he was a rat and had the Feds after him for a few businesses being fire bombed in Miami. No telling how many bad things he did over the years. As for Goodfellas I agree.

i never got the impression lefty/ace was a decent guy in casino. I mean he wasnt a muscle guy or traditional mobster but he wasnt a good guy. Didnt he basically order a guy to have his hand shattered by a hammer when he caught him cheating?

I don't care if Travolta is gay. I would rather have all the actors be gay and have a good movie. This looks terrible.

He was great in both of those roles.

He was great as Cockeye in Once Upon A Time In America as well.
I remember when I saw Gotti for the first time I laughed when I saw him as Gravano, I said "hey it's cockeye"

Actually having watched it few times- it actually looks quite good especially towards end of trailer

But some of the scenes and acting ie the Johnson scene looks abit questionable

Travolta has also bought some bravado to the character/ abit too much. I would have preferred a much more serious Gotti/ Travolta although will have to watch the end product to decide

Luckily we have Alexandarns who can judge a movie with 100% certainty based on a trailer. rolleyes

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 10/08/17 12:13 AM

abso-fucking-lutely! Everyone can see its cheap, even the scenes that were picked for the trailer, which are supposed to be good, are cheap and bad. You dont need to be a movie expert to see the movie is crap. Other than us (forum guys) nobody even knows that the movie, making of it exists. A rat like John jr making a movie about how his father was a gangster and a stand up guy...Its it an abomination, and boring to say the least.

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 10/08/17 01:24 AM

I'll have to argue against that because a friend of mine who is not into OC sent me the trailer (knowing I'm an avid reader ). Plus it hasn't hit the screens hence only then will more people know of the movie

Re: Gotti - Trailer - 10/08/17 06:30 PM

It'll obviously be a total blowjob fest, but all of those frat boy, alpha bro morons will totaly eat it up and go watch the movie as soon as it comes out. This isn't a movie for serious mob/crime buffs... it's like MTV for the Snapchat generation that idolizes mopes like John Gotti and has posters of him and Al Capone on their bedroom wall.

It would be interesting if a movie about that time period was done by someone not close to the Gotti family. I could imagine a film about the Gotti crew's rise, coinciding with the Demeo Crew's fall, combined with the Pizza Connection, and Commission trials all in one film.
