State of Grace is a 1990 neo-noir[1] crime film starring Sean Penn, Ed Harris and Gary Oldman, also featuring Robin Wright, John Turturro and John C. Reilly. Written by Dennis McIntyre and directed by Phil Joanou, the film was executive produced by Ned Dowd, Randy Ostrow, and Ron Rotholz, with a musical score by Ennio Morricone. Although not a box office success, the film was generally well received by critics.

Shot on location in New York City, the film was inspired by the real-life Hell's Kitchen gang The Westies.

My friend Johnny Roastbeef was in this movie. He played a collector trying to get money from the dead beat. He was in the scene on the pier. He was the guy fighting with Gary Oldman. In real life Johnny would have fucked him up smile

He once had a fight with Kareem Abdul Jabbar when they both went to HS together at Power Memoral. He was called Lew Alcinder back them.

Even HS he was 7'2" Johnny was 5'9". Johnny won because he kept punching Jabbar in the nuts.

The company that produced that movie went out of business they were supposed to pay the actors taxes on their money they got for doing the movie. They didn't so all the actors oued the government back taxes on their movie performances.

Yes, that's him everyone should be lucky enough to have a friend like him.

He never judged me and everyone judged me as a kid and later in life. Not this guy once he is your friend he is a friend for life. Actually I am like that myself. But I have very few friends left now mainly because I don't trust anyone.

Johnny has a ton of friends because of the type of person he is. If I had to choose my brother or John its John every time. He is closer then a brother to me.

Some Westies liked to wear buckskin jackets in those days.

They also had a small connection with the purple gang

If by small connection, you mean that Frankie Price slapped Jimmy Mac silly one night, then I'm inclined to agree with you. And that asshole testified against Gotti and ended up dying in jail anyway. Karma's a bitch lol.
