Gangster/mob movie idea?! - 04/25/14 03:53 PM

Hey everyone,

I'm writing a screenplay about a fictional mobster based in Chicago. Some of the characters are based on some of the gangsters who were in the "Outfit". It's a modern day tale, and was wondering if you guys could provide some ideas on what kind of ways the mob make their money nowadays, and what could be interesting?

The longline:
"A riveting modern day tale, set in Chicago, the story focus on the rise of a notorious mobster who's a night club owner with a criminal past as he deals with personal and professional issues within his everyday life, as he battle rival crime boss for control of Chicago's underworld. A story about the code of honor, respect, loyalty, succession, greed, betrayal, blood, and good men committing plenty of sin"

The main character isn't Sicilian, maybe Irish-American! I just want to tell a great story about a mobster who's associated with The Outfit in the modern day. If it isn't any problem, what would be some interesting names? I have Frank "Mugsy" Malone, Mickey Kaline,

Thank you!

Don't try to make any of the characters good because all mobsters are bad.

Don't glorify or romanticize the mob in any way, people are sick of that shit. Condemn the mob, make them look like scumbags (Which is precisely what they are)

He is writing a book called right now the death of a neighborhood.

It is all true names will be changed to protect the guilty..

Go's from being street kids in grammer school, to teens and youth gangs to 20s
And trying to make some money. To dying and some getting older then dying, then some making it big and jail, and managing to live a long old fart life.

Pizza it had to have the Giglio lifts, and Rao's and the local park.there will even be a shooting in Rao's. Remember that incident?

Gambling, porn, shylocking, stealing, the occasional murder, heroin trafficking and all manner of othe shit. It is even funny.

Even things that happen recently.

IMHO,
Skip the Irish, and make your character Calabrian, your writing about Chicago, not Boston.

Cool idea, just to throw in Tommy Grarland was an Irish gangster, and maybe you could use the last names Garland or Molloy. Both pretty Irish, but good idea man
