New Series; Inside the American Mob - 07/26/13 02:01 PM

This morning Imus interviewed Michael Francese and Sal Polisi, former mob guys who are involved in a new series on Nat Geo this Sunday, 9am, Eastern. Sounds interesting.

Sometimes I have to wonder how much these guys get paid for telling the same thirty-year story over and over again.

I watched two episodes last night. Grade C. Too many commercials (what else is new), and waaaaaaaay too much repeating. 2 hours of TV had maybe 1/2 hour of material. Franzese and Polisi were good. Lots of photos I hadn't seen before. Some new info. I liked the way it was organized; writing was good. Too much Joe Pistone.

Next week about the Scarfo era should be good, but of course we can expect a lot of the same footage and stories we've been hearing for years. Last night though, I agree Sal Polisi and Mike Franzese were good, but fuck Pistone. That clip of Tommy Dades fixing his collar they keep showing kills me. Guy's a fucking cop and he's all dressed up trying to look like a mobster, why because he worked mob cases? What a fag

I agree that it was well organizied but it was like they cutting a pasting info from different documentaries. I dont think there was any new info told at all.

I thought it was alright. A lot of the same stuff that we've all heard before. There were some new video clips I hadn't seen before: the blood on the street after Columbo and Gallo were shot.

Anyone know if they are doing one on Chicago?

it was old repeat of the same stories of Franzese and Pistone. Good footage of the Old days, Colombo shooting and the Gallo shooting. I loved when the federal prosecutor said that Franzese got an early prison release because he cooperated. Hasn't Franzese said over and over in all his interviews and books that he never cooperated before? Did I hear that right? If so, who went to jail on that cooperation?

I agree we have heard the stories before. However they did throw in some new information that i did not know. For example i had no idea that Franzese was present when Joe Colombo was shot and i didnt know that his captain was andrew russo. The pistone one has been told the same way too many times. The Philly episode is on next but we have heard that before too. Of course they have a gotti one soon but i hope they focus more on stories taht ahvent been told. For example his involvement in the tommy desimone and tony plate murders, his involvement in the 3 capos murders in 81 and even his involvement in the lufthansa heist which the gambinos got a piece of since it was their turf

Agree JCrusher. Also liked the way the Prosecutor said how Franzese cooperated. He has always said he never did such a thing. I wonder how he is going to address that now? Also as for Pistone, who hasn't heard those stories? Also didn't Massino testify that Sonny Black was not killed because of him, but because he was making moves for power? It makes sense since Lefty, the guy who took him around, lived confortably in prison for 20 years unharmed.
