The Wolf of Wall Street - 04/10/13 03:06 AM
Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter are working together for the new Crime Drama The Wolf of Wall street, Staring Leonardo Dicaprio and Jonah Hill, The plot is as follows: A New York stockbroker refuses to cooperate in a large securities fraud case involving corruption on Wall Street, corporate banking world and mob infiltration
Very Eager to see this one, Winter and Scorsese working on a film together would be great imho, DiCaprio is a solid actor. I dont really like Jonah Hill that much but Scorsese can make anything golden.

Simon wrote for the wire, Winter started out as an executive producer and writer on the Sopranos then created boardwalk empire (also with Martin Scorsese). The Two both have a lot of experience in the Gangster Genre,

Eh, seems to be too modern to me, like Great Gatsby. I hope I'm wrong though.

yeah I feel this will be a great film. My favorite director Scorsese, along with great writers, crew and a solid cast should be able to entertain us with this story.

Re: The Wolf of Wall Street - 01/29/14 09:50 AM
saw it. the 1st hour is okā¦then it gets way too messy.
it focused strictly on booze, drugs and shaved gals rather than detailing Belfort's dealings in the stock market and his reputed mob connects.
Has Belfort ties with the mob ? I saw on a documentary that the mob in the last 80s and early 90s make tons of $$$ with the boiler rooms, there any connections ?

Here are two pretty good books about the Mob and Wall Street :
Nothing But Money: How the Mob Infiltrated Wall Street
by Greg B. Smith
Born to Steal: When the Mafia Hit Wall Street
by Gary Weiss

So imdb et. al. described the "mob infiltration" . I read the book and saw the movie. Absolutely 0 mention of any traditional organized crime figures.

Could've been a great movie if it were a little shorter. DiCaprio and Hill both kill their parts. DiCaprio's lude overdose is great physical comedy and not something you usually see from an A-lister like him.
But the whole sex and drugs overdose gets tiring after awhile. They could've edited that out a little. More cat and mouse with the FBI agent would've been good for example.
