Orbach does Gotti

Orbach does Gotti - 02/05/13 11:05 AM

Those familiar with Howard Blums's Gangland that masterwork of how the feds brought down Gotti (one of a slew) may or may not be aware of the late and great Jerry Orbach's audiobook of the same.

Jerry not only does a superb reading, he does all the voices: the feds, Granvano, Locasio, everybody, and of course, Johnny Boy.

The guy is amazing. IMO, he sounds more like Gotti than Gotti. I had the cassette tape years ago, and recently got another rare copy on Amazon. (Couldn't find in on disc.)

Love to know what you think, those who have heard it.

Well, God knows that Orbach dreamed he was a wiseguy, so I'm sure he did a good job lol.

But I loved Orbach. The guy was THE quintessential New York actor. So he gets a pass for being a bit of a wannabe smile.

And welcome to the boards, Viceguy. I'll try to track a copy down on Amazon and I'll let you know what I think. As it stands, I thought Blum did a very methodical and professional job on "Gangland."
