I bought the book at B&N yesterday just started it tonight only 40 pages in not bad so far. It cracked me up in the True Crime section they had a book by Sal Polisi "At the Sinatra Club" I watched that on Netflix awhile ago that movie was a joke or sure the book is even worse..

I saw that movie (joke) but the book wasnt so bad, I skimmed it at B&N. It has really good reviews in Amazon just for the record.

I also skimmed to the pictures contained within the Mafia Price at B&N, I was dissapointed cause I was expecting a surveillance shot that the author stated in the other forum he had of Mazzone at the turn of the year meeting with a high-ranking mobster in NYC.

They only had one copy on display at B&N (the one in union square) so it looks like it is selling quite well, I will see if I stop by another day and actually check out some of the book. I have only heard good things about it. Been extremely busy at the office.

Yeah it's a good size book I should of bought it on Amazon wasn't aware of the free shipping and its pretty much half price on there. I like how the first review on amazon is from one of the authors (Scott) lol I've read Blood& Honor and The last Mouthpiece by Bobby Simone which seemed to be put together a lot better but I see that their trying to get more then the target audience by mentioning Meyer Lansky in the first chapter and then talking bout boardwalk empire and nucky thompson so it would interest a wider audience.

I liked it, Leonetti kind of talks down about Nick the Crow where as in one of the Anastasia books, I think Blood & Honor, he seems like he is one of the main dudes in philly.

Your right "Nicky The Crow" was on a different level

Save your money, and just google Phil Leonetti. The Book was poorly written with lot's of mistakes. This Leonetti is a Bullshitter. He claims that he did not like the life and wanted to leave it. He also says how much he hated his Uncle Nicky Sarfo. Yet he only decides to cooperate after he was sentenced to 40 years, why not before? Save your money!

The book is really good but as stated it shows the rise and fall of him and the philly/s jersey family but as stated above leonetti is out for his own ARSE....I would have believed him if he stepped up and question killing salvie testa who seems to have been killed out of jealousy and paranoia but leonetti just goes along with his uncle until he gets sent to federal prison and then he sings.....also seems that lawrence merlino really tried to go legitimate during a certain period and if leonetti was so opposed to his uncle he probably could of A) had him whacked or did it himself or ask NY for permission or told younger testa or B) start working towards more legitimate business like merlino....but he was in bribing politicians while his uncle was away...so he is a dirtbag like his uncle only he became a rat

None of them would have. They only get religion after they get caught.

Except maybe Michael Franzese. Say what you want about him. The guy is more than a little bit flaky. But he pretty much gave everything up on his own terms.

100% agree, I mean its like going on a win streak at the track or casino in one sitting, how many people pick up and leave while they are up? Leonetti bragged about the cash they were making the millions and they kept grabbing for more...when he was whining about his uncle and be a gangster and nicky was in federal prison he was running a scam in AC with other union guys and politicians...he got religon because he got caught....heck look at sammy the bull he ratted and went right back in the life and in prison

That book is tanking. It's been out since November and has not made the New York Times Bestseller list or any other list. the sales on Amazon look real bad too!

Yeah well when leave a review for yourself first your setting yourself up for failure. I liked his book but its overpriced...It starts off with a bunch of bolshit about Meyer Lansky that people probably toss the book in the fireplace after reading that

Yes, Underboss, The Valachi Papers even Mob Wives Karen's book made it, just to name a few.

Yes and she was a pig then, but then again she still is. Google her name and look on images for her prison picture. The book sucked, but made great firewood!

must be the worst of the turncoats, clearly a weak weasel who would sell out anything. in interviews you can see he's not the real deal and has a very short time as the number 2. rose due to a family member then sold nicky out aand says he hated him. i just dont buy that he was a tough guy as he tries to make us believe. even his voice seems weak. lol i am not a fan.

just for the fact some of what his saying will be true and he was scarfos nephew i will grudgingly buy the book!

I 100% agree but i wanted to get it,to know more about scarfo not leonitti, also most rats say that i was only following orders routine,im a nice guy BS

Re: Mafia Prince - 01/21/13 03:44 AM

without a doubt! also with turncoats like gravano or even nick the crow they do seem like serious hard hitters. leonetti lacks this and it is clear how he came up - not the hard way

Re: Mafia Prince - 08/09/13 11:30 PM

Mafia Prince is definitely a good read. It gave a lot of insight to the Philly mob. Nicky & Leonetti were practically broke. In the book Crazy Phil says that at their prime they had $3 million between the two of them. Not a lot when their buddies in Greenwich Village were raking in the dough. I mean this is boss & underboss not two mere buttons.
