Which Puzo book...

Im planning to buy another Puzo book to add to my collection, I just can't figure out which one.
I already have The Godfather,The Sicillian, and The Family

Which one do u guys recommend I buy next?

The Last Don is a very good read. i highly recommend the book and also the film.

The fortunate Pilgrim is my favorite out of all his books. This is the first one that Puzo was noticed for.

In your opinion, which is the better book, Omerta, or The Sicilian?

The Sicilian - no doubt. Omerta is enjoyable, but only really that. I did however feel the ending was very clever.

The Fortunate Pilgrim, definately. The Last Don was good, but it is said that The Fortunate Pilgrim was a novalization of Puzo's life. It was dark and showed a messed up way of life for early Italian Americans. Check it out.

The Runaway Summer of Davie Shaw

Fools Die is one of my favorites. Even though it deals with hustlers rather than gangsters, its really a great book.

I really liked the fortunate pilgrim and reccomend that.

I'm reading Fool's Die now. It is OK, but nothing I'd call great. I'm about halfway through it.

I would particularly recommend the much underated fourth k. It is a story about power and is relevant to a lot of the situations in the world today. Some of the writing is pure genius and I loved reading them out to my wife. I particularly like the sub stories just before the atom bomb goes of. They are very good and I feel Mario Puzo is just showing of how good a storyteller he is.

I thought Omerta was a much better book than the Fortunate Pilgrim...

It really depends on what you like to read the most...if you like mafia and the crime world then go with Omerta. The Fortunate Pilgrim is much different book and mainly discusses about this woman who immigrated from Italy and how she has a tough life but she still somehow manages to survive through tough times in New York

Omerta didn't really do it for me. The fortunate pilgram is actually based on Mario Puzo's real life and in my opinion far better written than Omerta. I can understand why some people don't like it as it is much slower than the mafia novels. But it conveys good wisdom, I particularly like the statement "the state gives charity in the same manner as a ransom victim gives money to a kidnapper" or something to that effect. Worth another read I reckon!

The Last Don was easily my favorite of the other novels that Puzo wrote. It was actually very interesting reading it directly after reading and watching The Godfather. The stories just had so many parellells, such as depressed widows, rebellious part-blood nephews, and the whole family organization. But mostly, I just liked the way the story was told. The language was great and I couldn't really put it down unless forced to. I also enjoyed the flashback story of the Santadio War near the end of the novel, and how Puzo manages to reveal every bit of information with so many characters at just the right time.

Excellent novel and well worth your time.

Omerta is easily better than the Sicilian, i read omerta in about 3 days and i couldn't put it down. but the Sicilian just doesn't do it for me and i can't understand why anyoune wants it ot be made into a film

After hearing so many excellent reviews about the book The Sicilian, I went out and I got it, but I don't see what all the buzz was about....

Don't get me wrong The Sicilian is a good book, I enjoyed reading about Turi and I even liked that Michael was cleverly included but I think the Last Don and The Godfather are much better books....

What do you guys think?

I've read the Godfather, and reading through The Family.

Both are really good. And I just watched The Last Don, the movie, can't wait to read the book of that now!

of the puzo books i have only read the godfather, the sicilian, the last don, and omerta. and let me say that the godfather and the sicilian are the two best books so far. i found omerta was nowhere near the surprise the the other two are. and the last don really just dragged on for the first half of the book. i kept falling asleep. lol. but what should be the next book i get? since i got the mafia stuff out of the way.

i'm thinking about reading Omerta. Could anyone give me a short, not to reaviling synopsis

Just finished The Family.

Fantastic book. Carol Gino's afterward is great, and actually brought a tear to my eye.

I read just The Godfather, Omerta, The Last Don and The Sicilian.

Omerta and the Last Don were nice to read, but I really didnt enjoy them.
I missed the Quality like The Godfather had, it is hard to explain, its just the feelings and thoughts I had after finishing these two books.

The last one was the Sicilian, already a bit unsure about spending money on further Puzo novels, I really was impressed.

The Sicilian is one of the best books I ever read - it describes the life in Sicily very detailed, without glorifying it nor the main person.
It shows also the weakness behind Sicily and its traditions.

I would everyone suggest to get Sicily - its really worth

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has read the fourth K, personally I thought it was excellent.
