I've probably mentioned the site enough already, but I thought we could use a thread specifically for YouTube.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, YouTube is a site that allows anyone to post videos of anything, to share with the world. It's a fun way to interact and communicate, and browsing through the site's collection makes for great entertainment. I've come across music videos, TV shows, news stories, comedians, magic tricks, etc. - there's something for just about everyone. It's very addictive.
I'm constantly finding stuff that I'd like to share here, with the whole group or sometimes with a specific member.
I thought it'd be nice to use this as the place where we can all share our favorite videos with everyone else.
So, if any of you have anything, please post it!
Here are a few that I've enjoyed, as well as ones that I think some of you might like:
Wayne\'s World - Bohemian Rhapsody Scene King Tut - Steve Martin Ask a Ninja - Sort of a mix between Rex of Napoleon Dynamite and those Chuck Norris jokes online. HST on Letterman - Not sure HST and Letterman are quite on the same level, but it's cool to see Hunter in an interview. Let It Be - Beatles fans, there are lots of music videos available! Deer Trick - Candid camera type joke thewinekone - Check out this guy's videos...I love him. Louis Prima Staying Alive - After hearing this song in another video, I got addicted to it...then my mom looked up the Bee Gees and was so excited to find video of them. Like I said, something for everyone. Soul Man - Awesome Blues Brothers video Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Cool behind-the-scenes stuff Godfather Pepsi Commercial - I remember this girl on Pepsi commercials, but I don't remember this particular one...so funny, though. Godfather on Guitar - Slash Brian Setzer Orchestra - Jump Jive An' Wail is one of my favorite BSO songs...I love Tim Misica's sax solo.
I always crack up at Garth's part in that clip, where he offers the tiny bag to Phil for him to "spew" in, then he gently tucks it aways into his pocket.
Originally posted by Mike Sullivan: Are there any other full length films there?
You know, I'm not sure. I know some television shows are, but I don't think they have any full-length films...probably to prevent any issues with the movie companies.
French Pacino fan-club uses YouTube to put videos. The latest one is Al's interview about Salome. It\'s here. If you make a search for "pacino" you will find many interesting things, for example the cartoon pacino-de niro fight, with Brando as the referee, etc.
Wow! The Rat Pack videos are awesome!! What a reminder of just how great they were. I love all of them. I only wish I would have been old enough to see one of their shows.
Oh and Slash doing GF? I liked it! I'll listen to more later. Gotta run.
I just edited my first Rat Pack post. The Sammy impersonations was my favorite video, and I mistakenly linked to the wrong video. Anyway, it's fixed on my original post, so to fans of the Rat Pack, or oldies music, I would recommend you give that video a look.

Ever since you posted that on here, my brother and I have been laughing our asses off, yelling "Your bullets cannot harm me, I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!".
"The Rare Demo for an Early Version of Comfortably Numb recorded by Pink Floyd in The Wall's Early Stages... This is how CN sounded before Roger changed it for the album.... rare! ... "
Very interesting, yet thank god they fixed it up to the mastepiece of a tune that it is.
"I'll cure your condition like a magician"

This is wrong on so many levels. I'm probably gonna burn in hell for finding it funny, but it's freaking hilarious. I haven't laughed so hard in months I think.
hahah, I've never seen that. You say you're almost ashamed to say those guys entertain you... how do you think Cher feels now? Actually, I like her a tiny bit now for doing that video.
You say you're almost ashamed to say those guys entertain you... how do you think Cher feels now? Actually, I like her a tiny bit now for doing that video.
If Cher sings with Beavis and Butthead...you've got to respect her.
It's so funny the way they sing it, too. I don't think I'll hear that song the same way again. Nah-na, nah-na...
Here is a video reenactment of Goodfellas by a YouTuber - very nice, simply for putting that whole scene together!
Wow, I forgot about this. On Groundhog's Day 1979, rock personality Sid Vicious overdosed on heroin.
Notice that I didn't call him "rock star." I did that on purpose because despite his infamy and closely-linked association with the highly influential Sex Pistols, he...didn't do shit.
Based on accounts, he couldn't sing. Worse, he wasn't even able to play 3-chords on the guitar(which is like playing basketball, but unable to walk and dribble the ball).
Never the less, he did produce ONE cool thing. While he couldn't sing to save his life or that chick he murdered, the attitude and the dictated prophecy of his own demise in his legendary cover version of "My Way" gave it an edge and spirit that surpass versions recorded by Sinatra and Elvis.
Hell, Scorsese used it for the ending of GOODFELLAS. That alone means the song is great...or should at least.
I'm sure Colbert is now wanting to put Viacom on the alert list alot higher than Bears(besides, they lost the Super Bowl).
I don't get Viacom's argument. If anything, those clips help more than hurt their corporate interests. PEople can see those cool clips, they sadly missed, for free...and they will tune in to their programs.
Ronnie, it's really sad. Anything Colbert related is gone.
There's no DVD or anything for sale that offers video of the Report or Daily Show episodes - it's not like we could be buying what they're taking off YouTube. And they're even deleting fanvids that people have made. Strangers With Candy videos were removed...there are DVDs for that, but some Exit 57 (old sketch show with Colbert) clips are also gone, and I don't think those are for sale.
I know there is much more to this legally that I definitely don't understand, so I'm sure they technically have a case...but I don't really see why it should be such a big deal. As you said, people are still watching and promoting the shows. The only way it might be diverting interest from Viacom is by YouTube getting more publicity for its sponsors, I guess? It's just diehard fans that love Colbert on TV and want even more of him on YouTube, and now they can't have that.
I read some at the Colboard where people mentioned the Purge of '06, so this has apparently happened before - I guess the Nation will recover.
But Viacom is definitely more dangerous than the Bears - no offense, character Stephen.
I'm waiting for him to quote Hagen's "Can't do it Sally" but instead he just shakes his head no. I love the look on his face. You know he's prolly seen the movie AT LEAST a few times if he's quoting it.
EDIT-He has another one on the mob w/ different material that I can't find.
Ever since somebody got me interested in Led Zeppelin, I've been in heaven.
I feel like I never really knew music until now, and I'm truly ashamed that it took me so long to catch on...but I'm grateful to know the magic and spirit of Zep now. This is coming from someone who mainly listened only to stuff like oldies, jazz, and big band. I'm a stubborn fool, so I always stuck with that same stuff and never tried anything else. Sad, I know. But LZ has lit my fire.
Jimmy Page has sent me into a state of guitar mania, so I decided to put together some videos for YouTube of the "Greatest Guitar Solos." The list I used is from here: http://guitar.about.com/library/bl100greatest.htm And they were voted by readers of Guitar World magazine, so don't blame me if you don't like the ranking.
It's been a lot of fun working through the songs, and they are incredible. Anyway, I thought some of you might enjoy hearing the works all together, so here's what I've done so far:
I actually had one of my videos taken down a few weeks ago. It was of Willy Taveras making an outfield assist to end a Houston Astros game, and all I had done was tape this one play off of the TV. I got an email saying: "This is to notify you that we have removed or disabled access to the following material as a result of a third-party notification by MLB Advanced Media claiming that this material is infringing."
What I don't get Gina, with Viacom's bullshit lawsuit is that Youtube website has always complied when copyright parties demand certain videos to be shut down, i.e. the Oscar 2007 clips.
So what leg does Viacom stand on in this fight? Besides, God knows that ColbertNation wouldn't be ColbertNation without those videos.
Somehow I ended up with a ten minute file of Little Wing, though the song is actually just a little over two minutes - it kept repeating, then it just cut off. The computer has been very bad to me today. I'm surprised it's still working.
Have you guys heard of Kimbo Slice? He was an ex con who goes around and gets paid to fight people in backyards and alleyways etc.You should see this guy fight!!Crazy stuff!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOpXdexXprQ
I'm in love with Clapton. That solo is fucking sweet.
I think the next time I go home, I'm going to bring my keyboard back with me. I want to learn that piano outro. I also think the next instrument I buy will be an electric guitar.
Eric Clapton is a guitar God. Depending on the day of the week (and the mood I'm in), he ranks as the greatest guitarist of all time for me. My list of top 10 guitarists changes all the time.

I learned it a couple months ago. It's really quite simple once you get the hang of it.
Thanks DA for that great clip. Two masters together....:)
XD, Eric Clapton IS a guitar God.
While I'm lukewarm with the album, his guitar-work is stunning in Roger Waters' flop solo album PROS & CONS OF HITCHHIKING. People forget about that fact...
Geoff, yeah I saw those clips earlier. David O. Russell was a legendary asshole/tyrant when shooting THREE KINGS. Apparently at one point, he was dressing-down a poor crew member, when George Clooney took exception. A schuffle occured, and Russell got his ass knocked down.
The absolute best version of "Hotel California" I've ever seen or heard. Watch this video, and behold a classic performance of one of the most iconic songs in rock 'n roll history:
I saw the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" tour here in CA. One of the best concerts I've been too. Hotel California is one of my all time favorites as well.
Btw, do you know where this was taped? I didn't see it indicated. Don Henley was wearing the same shirt when I same the concert. Great video.
I've been watching both of them every night for a few months now, catching the repeat if I missed the original - I never skipped an episode. Then school started to get really busy, and I only caught one this past week. I found out Willie was on but didn't see it, so I'm going to watch it online.
Made this, and so far it's gone down well. Thought I'd run it by you guys and see if I've done it any justice. After all, who better to ask than the scholars and wiseguys of this forum?
I'm kinda developing a repertoire of characters I can mimic. Don't know if anyone has seen Kevin Spacey's impersonations but if I'm half as good as that guy, I'd be happy.
We have a great impressionist over here in Blighty called Jon Culshaw. He's the shit. Here's a sample of his talent.
I also do a pretty mean impression of Walter from The Big Lebowski, but I've not put that particular video up yet.
Yes, that would be grrreat!!! I love the dude. The dude would certainly abide to that one. In fact, I think I should change my signature!!! The dude shall always abide!!!
Great drinking game for The Big Lebowski. Drink everytime someone says the word "dude"
I don't think it's said more than the f* word, but let's see.... The dude's version. Either game would be grrreat!!!
I'm so glad the BB now has a dude! Paul, you are 'el duderino'! It's good to know that you're taking it easy for all us sinners out there. I really wanna see your Walter impersonation b/c I've been told I do a pretty good one myself. Hell I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock,....WITH nail polish. When I changed my sig to the dude quote I had no idea it was on youtube!!! My sig is now a youtube clip. I'm a youtube freak!!!
Also...in the very final scene....right after they scatter Donnie's ashes....the movie cuts to the bowling ball rolling down the lane(awesome). The soft, acoustic version of The Rolling Stones 'Dead flowers' is being played by Texan Townes Van Zandt(RIP) who 'many' call the greatest song writer ever. Duude.....can I abide to this movie anymore?
PK, as a honorary member of the BB.Net Warriors, I want you to represent us at the "Creative Conclave" at YouTube, bring some paint and leave the BB.Net mark for everyone to see.
There's a bunch on there. I really liked the Thanksgiving one. When that girl does the split on the trampoline? OUCH. Zombie's was good too. Bad quality though.
Well, people seem to dig the wrestling clips that I've found,(including unfortunately the Sycho Sid leg break that apparently made my fellow wrestling fans XDXC, Capo, and Don Andrew wince) so unless Gina has no problem me creating a first for BB.Net on her own thread....a column thread WITHIN a thread!
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #1
To those that don't follow Pro Wrestling, a quick refresh.
In the pre-planned art of wrestling, workers execute complex moves, with both guys having to "sell" off the moves' effectiveness. However, a "botch" is when someone blows one of those moves, whatever by accident by the worker, or by his/her co-worker that literally fucked up.
Well, someone posted a series of such great "botch" clips in "Botchamania". Six parts so far, but check it out...and have a good laugh(though do grind your teeth when some hacks screw up, and actually bodyslam people on their HEADS instead of their backs).
Here's Botchamania 4. Notice the Sandman promo being wrecked because the ECW hero being drunk.
If you're a green horn, NBC did one of those "Exposed" programs from back in 1998 which gives you a basic ordinance run-through of how certain moves and showmanship are pulled off.
Its work for that reason, but damn the program's slant that wrestling fans are outright retarded not "noticing" the moves....umm jackass, most fans KNOW its not real fighting. They know its pre-planned. There are intelligent people who love the operatic ballet of it.
Anyway, you all want a good laugh? Take this WCW match that Savage did with Hulk Hogan. Hogan is choked unconcious, and Savage revives him....with his flying elbow.
I know watching pro wrestling is about suspending belief, but GOD DAMN...
Mick "Mankind" Foley and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson...two wrestlers that had some good matches from the infamous "I Quit" match(PWI's 1999 Match of the Year) and the "Empty Arena" title match shown during Halftime of Super Bowl XXXIII.
That's bloody awesome DA. I wish NFL games would have an ambulance drive onto the field, and players fleeing for their lives. Ratings would go up.
God, I miss the days when EA Sports had fun with athlete characters getting the crap beaten out of them, bleeding and fighting(like their once great NHL series.)
We actually studied in school about the painting that Cameron stares at - "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte." Another that we studied, "The Bath," is also in this clip. Almost makes it interesting to learn about, when it's featured in one of my favorite movies.
The Jerk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxhMCkcOwZk This was on TV a few days ago, and my brother caught part of it. He loved this scene, which is really saying something about this movie, because he doesn't laugh at much unless he "discovers" it himself.
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #5: The Undertaker vs Mankind: Hell in A Cell, 1998 King of the Ring
The one match with two infamous falls(first scripted, the second a horrific accident) that guaranteed a comfortable lecture/book financial career for crazy bastard Mick Foley("Mankind"/"Dude Love"/"Cactus Jack"). Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Match of the Year for 1998.
I know it looks really made up and lavish and resembles a music video, but believe it or not, this is actual live footage from an RHCP show in Long Beach from 1990.

Better yet DMC, isn't Undertaker supposed to have supernatural powers for a dead man? I'm sure he could have cured his bodily vessel without quack doctors.
Thanks DA! I think what the film MAN OF THE MOON really didn't get the grasp of what was so funny about that Kaufman sketch, because when the dumb skit dies in the middle when Kaufman forgot his lines, the audience is thinking, "What the hell is going on?" Then Richards brings out the cue cards. Funny shit.
Nevermind Kaufman getting pissy(or provoking) and starting a little schuffle.
What I dig about Kaufman is that he understood the athletic art and showmanship of Pro Wrestling, years before the smarks existed in mass. He played himself as the Hollywood elitist jackass heel to the Jerry "The King" Lawler-face very darn well.
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #6: Kurt Angle vs Shawn Michaels, Wrestlemania 21
Another classic, this time we have a 5-star Wrestlemania match that was PWI's 2005 Match of the Year.
Seriously, I miss Angle in the WWE. Before his injuries and reported painkiller-addiction got the best of him and got his tail shipped to TNA, "The Wrestling Machine" was one of the few people, along with Jericho, Benoit, etc., that you would pay to watch wrestle. (Seriously, imagined if he had worked a program with Bret Hart. Damn you Goldberg!)
Put him together with another great performer in "The Heart Break Kid", and you have a highly-anticipated match that actually met the expectations.
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #7: Bret Hart vs "Stone Cold" Steve Austin: Submission Match, Wrestlemania 13
Into 1997, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin was a rule breaking heel that was feuding seriously against Bret "The Hitman" Hart and the Hart Foundation.
This 5-star classic match I think began the "Stone Cold" legend. Austin went from a baddie into a badass overnight, while Hart went from hero to despised.
What I loved most though, besides the legendary finisher, is the storytelling. In a submissions-only match, one would figure Hart the technical-master whore would win easily, so what could Austin do to win? Why beat the hell out of Hart!
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #9: The Madison Square Garden Incident May 19, 1996
"The Kliq" that dominated the WWF backstage politics in 1996 consisted of friends Shawn Michaels, Diesel(Kevin Nash), Razor Ramon(Scott Hall), and Hunter Hearst Hemsley(later Triple H). By May 1996, Hall and Nash were leaving the WWF for better pay-contracts over at WCW and at Madison Square Garden, they performed their last WWF program at a house show.
The hero Michaels just beat the baddie Diesel in the show's main event steel cage match. Scott Hall came into the ring to hug Michaels, but that was no big deal. Both were faces at the time.
Its when the "heel" Hemsley, who earlier that night lost a match to Hall, walked into the ring and hugged Michaels and Hall...then Nash gets up and hugs his "enemies" as well.
Notice the kid's voice that goes "WHAT?!?!", with many other people, when this happened.
Mind you, WWF was still absolute strict in trying to keep kayfabe real, and when these 4 workers broke kayfabe and broke that illusion to an audience, there was hell to pay.
But Nash and Hall were off to WCW, and Michaels was a hot-ticket main event guy, so all the punishment for the "Madison Square Garden incident" was Helmsley. He went from heavily-pushed future main event wrestler into a "jobber to the stars"(i.e. lose all the time to the stars). He was slated to win the 1996 King of the Ring tournament, but instead it was given to another wrestler.
LLC, maybe you're just rambling on like a madman (as usual!! ) , but I'd guess this is an actual list of tags someone had for a video?
I've seen that a lot - users will list a whole bunch of random words and topics so that people who search for those things will incidentally come across their videos. I guess it's happened to me because some stuff that I get in the results has nothing to do with what I searched for.

I was making fun of one I saw, actually. About half of it is real, and then midway through I just started word associating to mock it.

Ohhh, ok, that's what I THOUGHT was going on.
Some of this 'cyber-humor' flies right over my head.
For all you wrestling fans out there...here is what is probably the most infamous and controversial match in the history of professional wrestling. A match that pitted two of the greatest professional wrestlers in pro wrestling history against each other. A match that would change the face of pro wrestling forever. A match that would later be dubbed..."The Montreal Screw-Job." Survivor Series '97: WWF Championship: Bret "Hitman" Hart (c) vs. Shawn Michaels
XD, are you trying to alienate Canadians from this website for life?
Yeah, the Montreal Screw-Job, 10 years ago this November. So significant in how the power dynamics of the Monday Night Wars between WWF and WCW were changing. With Hart leaving to WCW, the heelish Shawn Michaels taking the WWF title and using the real-life heat against him to good use as the leader of the very hot stable D-Generation X(which would set up for Stone Cold Steve Austin winning the belt at Wrestlemania).
Yet maybe the most important unintended side-effect of the Montreal Screwjob is that Vince McMahon was no longer the company owner who was seen on TV as simply an announcer. "Mr. McMahon" was despised by the emerging "smark" wrestling fans for his hand in screwing Bret Hart, and would become the ultimate baddie in the WWF, a schtick he still plays a decade later.
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #10: Piper's Pit - Special Guest "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
"Piper's Pit" was a classic and legendary weekly promo-set for "Rowdy" Roddy Piper where his masterful promo-skills became more entertaining at times than the matches themselves.
Well, Piper gets to interview the "greatest wrestler" of all-time....himself!
The kid is actually playing "Unreal Tournament" (there's a correct translation of the video elsewhere on YouTube), but I find the Mario translation far more entertaining.
The sad thing is, we actually argue over who has the best calculator in Stats...I could see some people in that class or the Cal BC class making a video like this.
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #10: Haltime Heat - The Rock vs. Mankind: Empty Arena Match - January 31, 1999
At the height of WWF's popularity on Television and in pop culture of the "Attitude Era," a WWF Title match was booked during Haltime of Super Bowl XXXIII between a hot program-feud of the time: the charismatic athletic WWF champion The Rock and the lovable brawling "glorified stuntman" Mick Foley in his Mankind persona, but with a special gimmick...
An Empty Arena Match! No Disqualifications, Falls Count Anywhere...with Vince McMahon going back to his old job of play-by-play announcer for the match(back in his heelish of days)
This stunt worked, and 20 million people switched over from the Super Bowl on FOX over to USA during Halftime.
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #11: Hulk Hogan vs Paul Wright(aka The Big Show/The Giant) - Memphis,TN - April 27, 2007
Some of the wrestling fan community at BB.Net probably have heard about this whole little squabble.
Basically, Jerry "The King" Lawler with his Memphis wrestling promotion had booked a main event bout between him and Hulk Hogan that would have been fun. Two icons that save for 2 inconclusive fights back in the 70s, never paired off.
The problem was that Hogan is in a current feud with Vince McMahon and basically ordered all the booked-WWE stars off the show...including Lawler, who probably feared getting fired from his announcing job and screwing his Memphis show of future WWE star appearances.
A damn pity, since as Snake can tell you, Lawler is to Memphis like Flair and Dusty Rhodes were to the Carolinas and Georgia: An icon.
Anyway, with Lawler squeezed out, Paul Wright was filled in as his substitution(since he is buddies with Hogan, who got him into the wrestling business) and its a decent fun match. Very far away from a wrestling clinic, but hell I guess its refreshing for a cool mini-event on the local level instead of always John Cena retaining the WWE belt, right?
Cinderella-Heartbreak Station http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3aZ3p1m1ow Rolling Stone said that Cinderella was the last of the great hair-bands and indeed they were. Less than 2 yrs after this album was released, Nirvana would unleash Nevermind and of course the music world would never be the same. My friends always said that Nirvana/Pearl Jam/Stone Temple Pilots, etc, were "our bands" b/c they changed the world while we were teenagers. But I gotta tell ya, they were never my bands. While everyone else was doing the "grunge," I was rocking to the old classic ballads like this one. I don't know if it's the song in itself that makes me sad or if I'm saddened by the fact that this was one of the last of the great rock-ballads. Either way, I have to think that bands like Cinderella saw the impending Seattle storm that would soon sweep away music as we had known it. Thus, when Tom Keifer says... 'she took the last train out of my heart'... I can't help but think that "she" is the LADY of ROCK!!! Save this song to your hard drives, boys and girls, b/c you will NEVER hear sounds like this again!
"Sometimes I think of those days...sometimes I just hide away."
Yeah I remember that. I wonder whatever happened to that little girl. I remember she used to piss me off with something similar before the movie started in the theaters. It was funny the first couple of times I saw it, but by #15 I was ready to shoot her!
Mark me down as a Styx fan, Ice. And thanks for the Cinderella video, too! You wouldn't believe how many people out there have never heard of this great metal band.
I figured you were a Styx fan b/c of the keyboard. I was actually very close to saying something like "I'm sure XD will enjoy the Styx" but I didn't want you to think I was stalking you(cuz I'm not). I changed the video of Blue Collar Man to one that has a SWEET-arse keyboard intro.
And don't ever get me started on Cinderella and Tom Keifer! Absolutely one of my favorite front-men ever. You would never think that he could duplicate that loud screech of his while live, but he does. At the risk of losing every girl on the BB to Tom forever, I posted four LIVE clips of the band and another of their signature hits. I think these videos should help spread the Cinderella gospel quite nicely.
For me this is the RHCP's best commercial release, the chours rocks.
You see the SNL version from 1992? John quit the band moments before going on stage, then had to be talked back into the band so they could perform. So, he decides to go back on stage, but intentionally changes the intro to make it sound bad. He ended up leaving the band for six years later that year, while on a Japanese tour.
And you can see the other performance the band did in the same episode, of Stone Cold Bush, HERE which is just full of bad tension... And Anthony accidentally knocks John in the eye with a microphone, which is fucking hilarious
You read the comments? They're all "ZOMG John SUX, hes so out of tune" Then they start bashing Anthony, but really, I think he did a decent job trying to work with Johns playing.
Quote:
af2w131f (3 months ago) marked as spam I agree this is the best performance by John, he adds to this already awesome song with extra guitar riffs ect. I like this better than the original album version and thats saying a lot.
Yeah. John was only 21. Flea, Chad, and Anthony were all 29.

Yeah, I personally think that it's a pretty good performance. John is such a good guitarist, he can't even play hard when he tries. I just see it as the purest guitar playing he could have done at that time, emotionally speaking. So, it just happens he was angered by the bands mainstream success, clinically depressed, and addicted to heroin. Even when he starts screaming and yelling his vocal part out of tune, I know he was trying to ruin the climax of the song, but I think it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard because it's so raw and beautiful.
And I didn't even question Anthony's singing until I read the comments. John was playing different chords than he usually does, and the chords and vocals are supposed to harmonize in Under the Bridge. So, if John plays something else, of course Anthony will sound off. I've heard Anthony sing far more out of key when John was playing in the same key as the rest of the band.
Yeah, I think its a decent performance as well. I took the wrong quote, methinks. There was one (or several) that was actually slamming his guitarwork and saying he was out of tune and such. He wasn't out of tune as much as he was playing a different version of the tune. I think. I dunno.
I think he might've been playing just slightly off, purposely, either a bit too flat or a bit too sharp, as so that if anyone else tried to play along with him (in the proper tuning, not flat nor sharp) then they would sound horrid, due to subtle differences in tone.
A hilarious clip from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in which Larry David, the non-Catholic, accidentally eats nativity cookies of the baby Jesus and his mother Mary that his Catholic wife/her family had made the night before. Larry eats Jesus

I haven't seen many episodes of this show, but I remember him renting a living nativity group for his wife on Christmas morning. I laughed so long I was sore.
You have to rent the dvds b/c I know you are a "Seinfeld" fan. The clip I posted was typical of the show, but very tame compared to some of the other things. I loved "Seinfeld" but "CYE" blows it away, IMO.
In that same episode, he had been trying for a while to get something out of his throat (I don't want to give it away) which was also side splittingly funny.
I don't have HBO but a friend turned me onto the dvds. Season 6 should be coming out this year on HBO, so I may have to subscribe.

I remember. He mentioned it to one of thew wise men.
I forgot about that scene with the wisemen. I loved the noise Larry made whenever he tried to get the object out of his throat.
Did you ever see the one where his wife's aunt died and Larry volunteered to order the obituary? The newspaper made a typo which turned out to be an egregious error, thus putting Larry in an extremely awkward position with his wife's family.
It was supposed to say "Beloved Aunt" but the newspaper screwed up and placed another letter instead of the "A" in aunt. The effect of the typo was a far more vile description...

I know you love classic rock there, Goombah. I assure you that any videos you wish to post would be MUCH appreciated.
Larry David is good too.
Led Zeppelin-Going to California LIVE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRZcCLIB7w4 My favorite song of their's in terms of lyrics. And of course that is one mighty fine guitarist too!
I don't think it was in Goodfellas... I know it was in Casino, but I don't remember it appearing in the former. But what do I know, I haven't watched the movie recent enough to be 100% certain. But 99% of me wants to say it was absent from the film.
Of course you are CORRECT about that, El El Seeee. That song is from Casino, not Good Fellas.
I get all of those DeNiro/Pesci movies mixed up.
Lynyrd Skynyrd-Workin for MCA LIVE Knebworth 1976 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lEJMHN7Poc Notice how this song has a 5 star rating b/c the morons haven't heard of it and had a chance to give it a 4.
Good stuff you posted Ice. BTW, I love the Zeppelin "How the West Was Won" dvd. I can't get enough of the 1975 tour and the last show at Knebworth.
Thank you, Goombah! My most valued friend.
I have been there and back w/ Zeppelin, Knebworth is amazing. I've also seen all of the Stones and Doors vids that you posted. However, the Boss videos are ALL new to me!
I'm thinking there's a treasure trove of the Boss on youtube. I know he's one of the big sellers in bootleg-record stores. Anything you want to post from him would be AMAZING. I know you love the Boss and I know there are a few wise-asses from Jersey right here on the BB!
You want more, you got it! He's the most bootlegged artist next to Dylan - I have a good 50 or so myself. His records are great, but his live shows are what made him legendary. This is a great site outside of youtube that has some amazing Springsteen concert footage from many eras of his career:
My roommate used to play Bruce's FIRE around the house ALL the friggin time. You can really jam out to that one with just your guitar. I'm Going Down is UNQUESTIONABLY my favorite Bruce song. Although, I just now picked up on the sexual innuendo of the title.
I used to wear the ol' Sony Cassette player OUT with that one when I was a lad.
And Goomby, I KNEW you would have about half-a-hundred of the bootlegs.
If anyone ever comes across a live version of Bruce's "Pink Cadillac" from the 1984-85 tour, I would be in your debt forever. Either that tour, the Darkness tour of '78-79, or the '99-'00 Reunion tours were the best of the E Street Band.
Here's a cool Pink Cadillac, but it's missing a great story prior to the song that I have on a few bootlegs. Great nonetheless: Pink Cadillac live
I couldn't find it on youtube, but I'm sure someone's got it. Here is the text, although it doesn't do justice to Bono's delivery, when he inducted Springsteen into the RR Hall of Fame in 1999:
"Bruce is a very unusual rock star, really, isn't he? I mean, he hasn't done the things most rock stars do. He got rich and famous, but never embarrassed himself with all that success, did he? No drug busts, no blood changes in Switzerland. Even more remarkable, no golfing! No bad hair period, even in the '80s. No wearing of dresses in videos. No embarrassing movie roles, no pet snakes, no monkeys. No exhibitions of his own paintings. No public brawling or setting himself on fire on the weekend.
Rock stars are supposed to make soap operas of their lives, aren't they? If they don't kill themselves first. Well, you can't be a big legend and not be dysfunctional. It's not allowed. You should at least have lost your looks. Everyone else has. Did you see them? (Points toward backstage area) It's like Madame Tussaud's back there.
Then there's Bruce Springsteen. (Cheers) Okay -- Ohhh!!! Handsome, handsome mother with those brooding brown eyes, eyes that could see through America. And a catastrophe of great songs, if you were another songwriter. Bruce has played every bar in the U.S.A., and every stadium. Credibility -- you couldn't have more, unless you were dead. But Bruce Springsteen, you always knew, was not gonna die stupid. He didn't buy the mythology that screwed so many people. Instead he created an alternative mythology, one where ordinary lives became extraordinary and heroic. Bruce Springsteen, you were familiar to us. But it's not an easy familiarity, is it? Even his band seems to stand taller when he walks in the room. It's complex. He's America's writer, and critic. It's like in Badlands, he's Martin Sheen and Terrence Malick. To be so accessible and so private...there's a rubric. But then again, he is an Irish-Italian, with a Jewish-sounding name. What more do you want?!?
Add one big African sax player, and no one in this room is gonna fuck with you!
In 1974, I was 14. Even I knew the '60s were over. It was the era of soft-rock and fusion. The Beatles were gone, Elvis was in Vegas. What was goin' on? Nothin' was goin' on. Bruce Springsteen was comin' on, saving music from the phonies, saving lyrics from the folkies, saving leather jackets from the Fonz. (Sings) "Now the greasers, they tramp the streets and get busted for sleeping on the beaches all night, and them boys in their high heels, ah Sandy, their skins are so white. Oh Sandy, love me tonight, and I promise I'll love you forever." In Dublin, Ireland, I knew what he was talking about. Here was a dude who carried himself like Brando, and Dylan, and Elvis. If John Steinbeck could sing, if Van Morrison could ride a Harley-Davidson...It was something new, too. He was the first whiff of Scorsese, the first hint of Patti Smith, Elvis Costello and the Clash. He was the end of long hair, brown rice and bell bottoms. He was the end of the 20-minute drum solo. It was good night, Haight-Ashbury; hello, Asbury Park. (Cheers) C'mon!
America was staggering when Springsteen appeared. The president just resigned in disgrace, the U.S. had lost its first war. There was going to be no more oil in the ground. The days of cruising and big cars were supposed to be over. But Bruce Springsteen's vision was bigger than a Honda, it was bigger than a Subaru. Bruce made you believe that dreams were still out there, but after loss and defeat, they had to be braver, not just bigger. He was singing "Now you're scared and you're thinking that maybe we ain't that young anymore," because it took guts to be romantic now. Knowing you could lose didn't mean you still didn't take the ride. In fact, it made taking the ride all the more important.
Here was a new vision, and a new community. More than a community, because every great rock group is kind of like starting a religion. And Bruce surrounded himself with fellow believers. The E Street -- it wasn't just a great rock group, or a street gang. It was a brotherhood. Zealots like Steve Van Zandt, the bishop Clarence Clemons, the holy Roy Bittan, crusaders Danny Federici, Max Weinberg, Garry Tallent, and later, Nils Lofgren. And Jon Landau, Jon Landau, Jon Landau, Jon Landau, Jon Landau. What do you call a man who makes his best friend his manager, his producer, his confessor? You call him the Boss. And Springsteen didn't just marry a gorgeous, red-headed woman from the Jersey Shore. She could sing, she could write, and she could tell the Boss off. That's Patty right there. (Points toward crowd)
For me and the rest of the U2-ers, it wasn't just the way he described the world. It was the way he negotiated it. It was a map, a book of instructions on how to be in the business but not of it. Generous is a word you could use to describe the way he treated us. Decency is another. But these words can box you in. I remember when Bruce was headlining Amnesty International's tour for prisoners of conscience, I remember thinking "Wow, if ever there was a prisoner of conscience, it's Bruce Springsteen." Integrity can be a yoke, a pain...when your songs are taking you to a part of town where people don't expect to see you.
At some point I remember riding in an elevator with gentleman Bruce, where he just stared straight ahead of himself, and completely ignored me. I was crushed. Only when he walked into the doors as they were opening, did I realize the impossible was happening. My God, Bruce Springsteen, the Buddha of my youth, is plastered! Drunk as a skunk! Pissed as a fart! I have to go back to the book of instructions, scratch the bit out about how you held yourself in public. By the way, that was a great relief.
Something was going on, though. As a fan I could see that my hero was beginning to rebel against his own public image. Things got even more interesting on Tunnel of Love, when he started to deface it. A remarkable bunch of tunes, where our leader starts having a go at himself, and the hypocrisy of his own heart, before anyone else could. But the tabloids could never break news on Bruce Springsteen. Because his fans -- he had already told us everything in the songs. We knew he was spinning. We could feel him free-falling. But it wasn't in chaos or entropy. It was in love.
They call him the Boss. Well that's a bunch of crap. He's not the boss. He works FOR us. More than a boss, he's the owner, because more than anyone else, Bruce Springsteen owns America's heart."
Bono's delivery, when he inducted Springsteen into the RR Hall of Fame in 1999:

Here in lies the central topic of Bruce: Born in the USA and Tunnel of Love albums. Why did he break form and produce two albums that are more classified in the "pop" sections?
Despite the fact that Born in the USA is one of the most popular albums in the history of modern radio, Bruce always spoke against it and called it his least favorite. Tunnel of Love would of course fall in the same category.
But I don't buy that, Bruce. You wanted to experiment with different sounds and these albums offered you the chance to do that. I posted several songs from each of these albums b/c as a Bruce fan I feel that they are as important as Born to Run or Thunder Road.
One Step Up, Brilliant Disguise, Born in the USA, etc, are favorite Bruce tunes of mine and always will be. I consider myself to have "diverse" interests in music(As I think most of us do) and these songs helped diversify Bruce and make him the God that he is.
There is a great book by Dave Marsh called "Glory Days" that deals extensively with Bruce from "The River" through the BITUSA tour. It ends before "Tunnel of Love" was released.
A short summary:
Springsteen "broke" through with a Top 10 hit in 1980 with "Hungry Heart." He had experienced some commercial success before with "Born to Run," but was still had a large cult following until 1978-80. Had Bruce been going for the quick buck and only been interested in commercial success, he could have released a similar sounding follow-up to "The River." Instead, Bruce released "Nebraska," an all acoustic, sparse account of songs dealing with extraordinary difficult times. The songs were recorded on a 4 track and the demos were released as the actual album after Bruce was not satisfied with the recordings attempted with the E Street Band. Each time they played a song, it lost the intimacy of the original demo. So his friend and bandmate, Steve Van Zandt, suggested releasing the demos as the actual record.
During the same period, Bruce wrote a bunch of other songs, many of which ended up being released on BITUSA. But the title track of what would become BITUSA (released on the box set "Tracks" in 1998) was written acoustically. The original BITUSA came off sounding like a protest song. Bruce always liked the lyrics, but decided to try a rock arrangement. The 2nd take of the song BITUSA was the beginning of his next album, and the rest, they say, is history.
Bruce was very ambivalent about releasing BITUSA because it contained songs that were more commercial sounding than anything he had done to that point ("Cover Me," "I'm On Fire" particularly). He also wrote a bunch of great songs that ended up not making the released version of BITUSA: "Pink Cadillac," "Janey Don't You Lose Heart," "Murder Incorporated," and "Follow That Dream." In all, Bruce recorded sixty songs for BITUSA - only twelve made the final cut.
When the album was nearing completion, Bruce's manager insisted that the album needed a sure-fire hit single. After an angry exchange between the two, Bruce told his manager to write a new song because he had already written enough material. But Bruce went home that night and came back to the studio the next day with "Dancing in the Dark." It was the album's first single and his highest charting song.
"Dancing" catapulted Bruce to superstardom as the single took off and went to #2 on the charts. Six more singles were released and all were in the Top 10. The BITUSA tour, which competed against the Jackson Family's tour, sold out everywhere and tickets for Bruce were significantly more affordable than the Jacksons.
Bruce toured for a year and a half throughout the world. Some of his core audience did not like 12 year old girls coming to the show. It was a difficult adjustment that kids would come to see Bruce based solely on his MTV videos. But Bruce put on some of his most energetic and fantastic shows during that tour. He was everywhere: on MTV, in the We are the World recording, and on the radio constantly. Politicians tried to solicit his support from both the right (Mondale) and the left (Reagan). He was on ABC News and constantly on the cover of Rolling Stone.
After the BITUSA tour, Bruce sought to reign in his iconic image. Years later, Bruce said he was glad to leave behind that period, in which he wore a bandana and displayed his muscular build.
"Tunnel of Love" dealt with adult topics such as marriage and family, a big departure from his previous songs of adventure, cars, and girls. The sound on "Tunnel" is much quieter than BITUSA and the E Street Band's contributions to the record are significantly less. He toured behind the album, but not until a full 6 months after its release. Instead of having Clarence Clemons as his onstage foil, his new girlfriend Patti, also a member of the E Street Band, was his main stage mate. It made sense - the songs were about relationships between men and women, but it confused some of his audience and his bandmates.
Bruce still put on 4 hour shows during the "Tunnel" tour, but he eschewed some of his concert staples: "Badlands," "Thunder Road," "No Surrender." Even "Born to Run" was played acoustically with only a guitar and harmonica.
Bruce may say BITUSA is his least favorite, but it's what got me hooked in the first place. I was 13 years old when it was released and have been a fan ever since. For me, BITUSA ranks with "Darkness on the Edge of Town" as his best album. He still plays many of its songs in his concerts today: "Born in the USA," "Dancing in the Dark," "No Surrender," "Darlington County," and "Glory Days." To me, the album is poppy, but it's still a great record. There's not one song I ever skip when listening. The songs don't sound dated because they are pop songs, which I think is the mark of great music.
"Tunnel" is also a 5 star album IMO. It's best moments are "Tougher than the Rest," "Ain't Got You," "Tunnel," "Brilliant Disguise," "Spare Parts."
I agree Ice - Bruce experimented a bit with both albums. I feel that his biggest experimentation in terms of sound was "The Rising" record. The rich textures, the searing guitars, violin, etc. make it a great album and is a musical departure from his other works. On top of all that, most of the record dealt with 9/11 and its aftermath, which lead to some very emotional lyrics.
My faves in order:
BITUSA and Darkness on the Edge of Town (tie) Born to Run The River Tunnel of Love The Rising Nebraska
I guess this could have warranted its own thread...
Check out this funny clip from one of my favorite episodes of "Curb Your Enthusiam" (entitled "Shaq"), where Larry seems to have some unusual good luck then goes into Starbucks.
Or the chef Larry hired, based upon the recommendation of someone who wanted to extract revenge on Larry, at Larry's new restaurant who had Turrets syndrome

Songs like Streets of Philadelphia and the sort are NOT my type of tunes. Tunnel of Love was still vintage Bruce, though. I guess since I grew up w/ Born in the USA I will always have fondness to that group of songs. Tunnel of Love represented an emotional "coming-down" of sorts for him. He and his wife were going through a split when he wrote most of the album.
My tentative top 11 would be...1.I'm going down 2.Spirit in the Night 3.My Hometown 4.Thunder Road 5.Hungry Heart 6.Growing Up 7.Rosalita 8.Born to Run 9.Fire 10.The River 11.Brilliant Disguise
Of course, the list is dependant on my mood for that particular day. A song like Born in the USA is too great for any kind of list. It's an immortal song that will live forever, ala Beatles Twist and Shout.
But like you, I pretty much love ALL Bruce. I hope to see him in concert as he is going as strong as ever. His new album releases are always an anticipated event.
And you're right, we could DEFINITELY have a BRUCE thread. Just ask JG.
Alice Cooper-Only Women Bleed/No more Mr. Nice Guy/I'm 18 LIVE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5lRsYfp5iU&mode=related&search= I wanted No More Mr. Nice Guy but couldn't pass up this vintage footage of Alice and his snake!!! This IS the same guy who bit the head off of a live bat while on stage.
Joe Walsh-Life's been good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmyxH-v8EYA Most random "video" ever. A tribute to Keith Moon, drummer of the Who. WTF ever, only vid. avail. Great song of course, but I don't really care about Walsh/The Eagles.

Yea...so I just found the greatest video of Iron Maiden's THE TROOPER I've ever seen. Seriously...it may even just be the greatest YouTube video I've ever seen. Prepare for the awesomeness you are about to behold:
Another funny, uncomfortably painful to watch scene from Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which Larry ticks off David Schwimmer & Schwimmer's dad. Larry & Schwimmer
More footage from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in which Larry finally starts experiencing some good luck. His luck began earlier in the day and continues when he is in Starbucks for this scene. While getting coffee with his wife, Larry finds out he no longer has to do a favor for an acquaintance whom Larry didn't want to help in the first place.
Larry's luck was changed after having some bad luck at the beginning of the episode, while attending a Lakers-Knicks game. At the game, he was sitting courtside and, while stretching his legs, Larry inadvertantly tripped Shaquille O'Neill, resulting in what appears to be a serious injury to Shaq. One of my favorite episodes.
Bob Seger-Her strut http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=433aF0CjQqI Apparently you can't download Bob Seger music. Sooo...THESE sort of sucky vids are the only ones available.
In Motley's biography, The Dirt, Nikki Sixx said that he was doing so much heroin that the road crew actually stood off camera during the shooting of this video to make sure he didn't fall off. Pathetic.
Nice stuff, Goomby. I heard BCW for the first time a few months back. That is quite a little kicking tune. Robert could still shake it in the 80's. As I'm sure you know, he had a cpl of pretty big hits in his solo career.
Stevie Ray Vaughan-Pipeline LIVE http://youtube.com/watch?v=FN185plVQLA&mode=related&search= Stevie is "accompanied" by big brother Jimmy on the SAME double-neck guitar, playing one of the GREATEST pieces of music ever written. The world MUST see this. Kinda sad, though.
I love how under two minutes in, they go to the camera being operated from the mosh-pit, and by the looks of the camera movement, he's probably getting the shit beat out of him.
LLC-Thnx for showing us your band, I love it. Promethius/Groove Step was my favorite as well, the last solo in particular (Prom Reprise) when your lead man started strumming his strings like a mad man! And speaking of mad men, you could could conquer China w/ that Bass around your neck. I also especially liked Funky Tuesday along w/ Crab Man(the intro is sweet), very cool stuff. You guys are awesome, no bullsh*t.
More ROCK for your Sat night listening pleasure...

Thanks, Ice... I'm glad you enjoyed them. It's funny you mention the reprise, because I remember that was the low point in the show... We had come in all funky coming back from that 10 minute jam we did on Groove Step, and we were all a little bit off. Jake, the guitarist, actually leans into the microphone at some point, and jokingly says to me, "It's all falling apart right now." But, I think my favorite part of the show is during Groove Step, when Jake begins, impromptu, chanting "Hey" into the microphone, and the crowd follows him. One of the coolest moments of my amateur music career; a room of 100 or more people chanting along with my band.
That was a good show. It's almost been a year, and I still say that was one of our best shows, if not the best, out of all the shows we've played over the past three two or three years. I remember that was the week I had gotten my new bass and amp, seen in the video. Cost me a hefty bit.
Wow, Foreigner. They were one of those bands in the late 70s and early 80s that had some big, big hits. I consider them in the same class as groups like Journey and Loverboy.
I always liked "Juke Box Hero" and the entire "Double Vision" album. I got turned off with their sappy stuff like "Waiting for a Girl Like You" and "I Want to Know What Love Is."
I remember not too long ago, their lead singer had a brain tumor that turned out to be benign.
The White Stripes performances from this past weeks Jools Holland (excellent UK music show, for anyone unfamiliar) have surfaced on the internet, and are quite good. They played two songs off the upcoming album, and finished it off with "My Doorbell" a single off the last album... Which is a seriously cool performance, as Jools Holland himself is playing the piano part.

I've never really listened extensively to those type bands. I know the 3 or 4 huge hits that they each had, though. I USUALLY don't post bands that don't ROCK, and you know what I mean by ROCK. I post AcDc, GNR, SRV, Zeppelin, Skynyrd, etc. But JUKEBOX HERO is a rockin little number in its own right.

Awesome stuff, LLC. The Stripes are AMAZING. Any and all clips that you wanna post would be much appreciated. I found a pretty cool one of Jack playing w/ THE WHO's Pete Townshend.

Jack is the best modern guitarist along with John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Peppers, I think.
I found their whole Bonnaroo performance on youtube... I'll post them later. Also, their performances on Conan have always been great, as Conan is a huge Stripes fan himself, and always gives them generous time slots. In 2003, when Elephant had just hit stores, they were the musical guests for the whole week. And then, the other night, they guested, and they actually got to play two songs in one episode. I know NBC has been cracking down on youtube by removing a lot of Late Night clips, but I'll try and post all the Conan stuff I can find... They're quite good.
I'm hooked on this band I found called Memomena... Here is a clip of them performing one of my favorite songs on their album, "Muscle'n Flo" in... some guys basement:
I've been seeing various things on YouTube about the presidential race, with features on each candidate, but I just found out about this. I'd bet a few of you who are creative and savvy with making videos could have some fun with this and maybe even get chosen.
I guess I've been turning a few people onto the White Stripes... So, here is, first, Jack White's side-project, The Raconteurs performing my favorite song off their album at last year's Lollapalooza. Secondly, is perhaps the coolest thing I've ever seen on cable; Back in 2003, to promote their album "Elephant" the white stripes appeared as the musical guests on Conan for a whole week. To close out the week, on Friday, they played their song "Let's Build a Home" and, on an impromptu whim, went into the Blues classic "Goin' Down to Memphis"... Jack went crazy, ran off the stage, threw his guitar onto Conan's desk, played the craziest slide-guitar solo I've ever seen, and then threw his guitar on the ground and performed an acapella sample of the Stripes song "Cannon".... It's quite the performance.
Here's a "fake" interview the White Stripes sent out to promote Icky Thump, in which Jack Lawrence, bassist of the Greenhornes and the Raconteurs, pretends to be Jack White.
Jools Holland's music show is the only one worth watching over here, for me, at least on the five-channel, terrestrial TV that you get with a basic TV license.
I saw him and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra live last November. Lulu, Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall guest performed. It happened to be Lulu's birthday too, and we all sang happy birthday to her.
Both songs are in my Top Ten by G'N'R and Led Zep, respectively. I was really excited about "Houses" because I thought it was a live version, but still a cool compilation.
Usually all the radio plays from "Appetite" is "Paradise City," "Sweet Child," and "Jungle." But what makes that album so freaking great are songs like "It's So Easy," "Mr. Brownstone," "Rocket Queen," and "Nighttrain." One of the best debut albums of all-time, IMO. It's too bad Axl went crazy and ruined what could have been an truly great, long-lasting band. "Chinese Democracy" still has yet to see the light of day...
A funny clip of Larry David and the actor who played "Bookman" on Seinfeld. Larry is waiting to see a doctor and gets into it with the doctor about using the waiting room phone:

This comment reminded me of something I thought I remembered reading at Songfacts. (A great site, by the way.)
Here's what the page on "Houses" mentioned: "Despite being a fan favorite and about their shows, this was never performed live."
Interesting stuff, Gina - thanks!
I wonder why they never played it live - Zep certainly varied their setlists considerably throughout their career. I always found it interesting that they didn't release the song until after the album of the same name was released. I thought Plant's voice was relaxed on this song and that the riff was pretty cool.
Plant varied his voice throughout their career. My favorite Plant vocal style was the rough-edged sound he used on songs like "Trampled Underfoot," "Custard Pie." He countered that with his high-pitch wailing style on "Immigrant Song," "Whole Lotta Love," "Heartbreaker," and "Rock'n'Roll." His third primary style was his clear-as-a-bell approach as in "In the Evening," "Fool in the Rain," "Going to California," and "All My Love."
Goombah, we should've discussed Zep together long ago! Ice introduced me to the band - I feel foolish for never giving them a try before...it was like discovering what music really is, when I first listened to them. A rock awakening, as I switched from oldies (what I'd listened to for years) to stuff like Zeppelin, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, etc. Not that I never knew of this music, but I finally immersed myself in it, and fell in love.
What Plant manages to do with his voice amazes me. The "wailing" you mentioned is just incredible - in tunes like 'Whole Lotta Love' and 'Dazed and Confused,' his moaning and wailing, something that seems so simple, always just blows me away because of how great it sounds and how it really makes the song.
I can't remember if Ice has posted it here, but I think you'd really enjoy the documentary-style videos he found on LZ at YouTube.

There are many parts posted by the same user, and I think it goes up to Q. I'm still working through it, but it's really good stuff and fun to watch.
Thanks Gina - I'll be sure to check your recommendations out on You Tube.
It's funny that you mentioned recently discovering Zep. I "discovered" them when I was in high school as well (I think you're about that age or early in your college career), long after John Bonham's death and after their popularity had faded. What makes this group stand the test of time is the fabulous musicianship. Let's face it, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Bonham are always in the discussion as being among the best as guitarists, vocalists, and drummers, respectively. John Paul Jones will always be underappreciated, but he was a tremendous organist and bassist as well. This was a band that had an "all-star" at every position.
The other thing about Zeppelin is the mystery that surrounds them. It's impossible for bands to have Zeppelin's mystique these days with MTV, iTunes, You Tube, and our age of instant media. There is the fact that there were rarely on television, which in turn made fans want to buy their records and concert tickets. It's different now, but Rolling Stone used to slam Zeppelin in its reviews. Then there is the urban legend that they sold their souls to the devil for their tremendous success (if you have not read Hammer of the Gods by Stephen Davis, I highly recommend it). I'm not into all that kind of voodoo, but it is interesting to see how high they went (popularity and wealth) and their tremendous hardships (Plant's near fatal 1976 auto accident, the death of Plant's young child, Page's fascination with the occult and dating a 14 year old, and John Bonham's unfortunate death).

Yeah, besides not finding out about them until now, I feel like I really missed out by not being around for their whole musical era. I was talking to my dad's friend after finding out he went to a bunch of concerts when he was younger and got to see some great musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, and it turns out he saw Zeppelin live. He mentioned that they played Dazed and Confused, so I asked if it was a long improv with the great bow work by Jimmy, and he said it was...which just made me jealous. Everytime I watch a live performance clip at YouTube, I just imagine actually being there, in front of those guys, and hearing them work their magic.
I definitely agree about the mystery of the band...all that I've learned about them shows that, and I think it's part of what makes them so great.
I've seen Hammer of the Gods mentioned in many things I've read online about LZ, so I'd really like to check it out. Your recommendation serves as further motivation - hopefully I'll get it online or at Half-Price books someday.
Alright, I'm going to provide a little bit of a change up from Ice's Stadium Rock ( :p),
Ice is also singin' the blues, brutha.(:p)
BTW-I have IMMERSED myself in the Pistoleros...I have indeeed. I'm sure that you've seen Sid's "heroin interview" in which Nancy totally bad mouths Johnny. There's also a HILARIOUS phone interview w/ Sid and Johnny togethor. It's kinda weird to hear Sid talk about death and shit, tho.
O.K....I've already posted some of these videos before but they ROCK, and we all should be Rocking on this INDEPENDENCEDAY 2007 b/c, WE..ROCK.
Guns n Roses-Welcome To The Jungle LIVE 88 Ritz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBnVeznTVB0 This is a good 4th of July song. And this must be the greatest LIVE performance in the history of musica.
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #12: Ric Flair vs "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig - Loser Leaves RAW, 1993
After entering the WWF in 1991 as "The Real World Champion," Ric Flair would twice win the WWF Championship title(including a awesome performance at the 1992 Royal Rumble) and a nice feud with Randy Savage before he would leave and return to WCW in 1993, but not before one last match, a "Loser Leaves Promotion" bout with "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig (who which would join WCW himself in just a few years later).
Very darn good match, and oh yeah, Bobby "The Brain" Hennan was the man.

I've always found a very twisted humor in the heroin interview. I mean, it's a rather depressing clip, because you can see how destroyed the two are. But at the same time, it makes me chuckle.
But, for depressing, have you seen Sid's last interview, done while he was on trial at the end of 1979? I'm sure it's on youtube, somewhere, but it's quite solemn.
Interviewer: Are you having fun? Sid: Are you kidding? ...no I'm not having fun. *awkward silence.* Interviewer: Where would you like to be right now? Sid: Under the ground. Interviewer: Seriously? Sid: Yes.
have you seen Sid's last interview, done while he was on trial at the end of 1979?
I've tried to find it - just b/c I'm crazy like that and I wanna analyze every word and sound he makes - but I don't think it's available. I've heard that bit that you quoted, though. If I find it I'll post it.
The Who-Summertime Blues LIVE 69 Woodstock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmRQs8PBEAw&mode=related&search= I've heard it mentioned more than once that The Who are generally regarded as having given the 2nd best performance at Woodstock, behind Hendrix of course. I can believe that. BTW-The Townshend guitar smash IS present.
Lynyrd Skynyrd-You Got That Right LIVE 77 Asbury Park http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh7mmNR5yGA One of my favorite guitarists Steve Gaines is helping on vocals, here. He was a later addition to the band and was killed via plane crash w/ lead singer Ronnie Van Zant.

He's very quiet, I'm pretty certain he is sober, and he is looking down at the ground the whole time... He never makes eye contact with the interviewer. He speaks softly and doesn't add any emphasis to his words, from what I can recall.
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #13: WARGAMES, 1987
The very first of the legendary "Wargames" PPV matches from WCW, it pitted a unique two-ring cage match with elimination/entering rules...and of course, the finale with everyone in....THE MATCH BEYOND! With the Four Horsemen going to war with the Anti-Horsemen faction led by Dusty "The American Dream" Rhodes...it rocks.
A lot of users have made similar videos, with a simple picture slideshow to go along with the music, but hey, it's the best I can do! It's just that I don't think all of LZ's songs can be found on YouTube - some are only available as covers by other bands - so I figured it'd help for something to do these.
Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #14: "The NWO is Born" - BASH AT THE BEACH, 1996 - WCW
The one moment that absolutely turned the wrestling industry on its ears.
For months, "The Outsiders" of Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, the invaders from up north, dominated and bodyslammed everyone in their path in that summer of 1996. From WCW vanguard like Sting and Ric Flair to exiled-WWFers like Randy Savage and Lex Luger...
So 6-man tag team main event for the BASH AT THE BEACH main event. Sting/Luger/Savage go to war against Hall, Nash, and their "Mystery Opponent."
[quote=ronnierocketAGO]Ronnie's Rasslin Video Round-Up #15: Mic Foley Loses his Ear
Holy shit! Someone caught this on camera?!?!?
Mic Foley, working as "Cactus Jack" in WCW, was working a house show in Germany when he suffered an incredibly awful injury that would inadvertedly be the first step in creating the hardcore legend of Foley.
Jools Holland's music show is the only one worth watching over here, for me, at least on the five-channel, terrestrial TV that you get with a basic TV license.
Missed this when you posted it, what, last month... Jools RAWKS! I get the show On-Demand on digital cable, and I never realized what a fantastic keyboard player he is - and - the musical guests are outstandingly matched! Willie Nelson and The Cure? Awesome! I don't know about on that side of the pond, but most of the "international" (non-US/UK) artists are edited out, but it's still a fabulous show. Sir Paul... Flaming Lips... Metallica (!!)... good chit, mang!
Cecile Chaminade-Concertino for Flute http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hCT447Elzk 'Cecile Chaminade was in love with a flautist, but he was not in love with her. To her great despair, he became engaged to be married... to another woman. On the day of his wedding, Cecile brought him the score of the 'Concertino', the outpouring of her feelings in a beautiful piece for flute. Unfortunately, he wasn't moved, and he married the other woman.'
After The Clash broke up for good in 1985, Paul Simmone tried to continue his rock career by leading his own act, Havana 3AM.
Nothing significant came from this endeavor....BUT there is this decent nightclub gig where he performed a trademark Clash tune that he had penned back in the day.
A tour of Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY. Something to offend everyone. This is definitely not politically correct, so if that offends you do not open this. I kind of find it hilarious.
I'm guessing not many here saw it, but did anyone see the Democratic debate via You Tube last night? I only saw clips afterward, but I have to say, it's really something how far technology has come. Who would have thought? A very new idea. Some good questions though.
Ha ha! That's great Beth. You gotta give them credit. They may not be professionals, but they certainly took time to try to learn the steps. Looks like a lot of fun.
Here's a half dead looking Sly Stone playing with Sly and the Family Stone at this summer's North Sea Jazz Festival: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6dPTl85QI74
I'm a tad confused as to why he's dressed like 50 Cent.
Geoff, I'd highly recommend you check out that video. Elliott Smith is my favorite solo artist, and I guy I could really see you enjoying. Especially his Figure 8 album. Totally your kind of music.
The trailer for the new DVD documenting the free Icelandic tour oficelandic band, Sigur Rós, has been released. The DVD is titled Heima which translates to "home," the new song being used in the trailer gave me chills, and the new DVD and the double-album that is also being released are going to be amazing.
In regards to my above post, I'm pretty excited about the new album and DVD, so, here is a live performance of a song which will be appearing on the new album.
From last week's "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Larry David somehow becomes a limo driver for a day and his first pick up is former tennis star John McEnroe. As per usual with Larry David, things go downhill quickly.
'this is the famous incident where keith moon added 3 times the amount of explosive without letting the band know. rumor has it that pete townshend lost 90 percent of his hearing in his right ear.the force of the explosion blew petes hair to one side. keith was a maniac! enjoy!!'
Longneck and others who may not know this story. It's a spoof on the Republican Seantor who was recently busted in an airport bathroom for trying to solicit sex with who was an undercover cop. The shoe tapping and signaling was all a part of the story. The Senator later claimed that he "had a wide stance" (that's what Pitt says) when he sat, thus trying to explainin why his foot tapped the cops.
Buzzcocks is amazing. He's a lad from near where I live in the UK, and basically takes the "chav" label to a parodic degree. His skills at improvisation and keeping a staight face are admirable.
In other news, this me last New Year's Eve, trying to get into a friend's house even though the door was apparently open.
I'm Gonna Crawl - Led Zeppelin Oh she's my baby Let me tell you why Hey, she drives me crazy She's the apple of my eye 'Cause she is my girl And she can never do wrong If I dream too much at night Somebody please bring me down
Not sure if there are any tennis fans on here ,but here's a clip by my mate, where he's poking fun at Lleyton Hewitt(our best player) and his soap star wife Bec Cartwright...
Thanks, llc. I had never heard of this musical group, but they are very good. I clicked on a couple other performances, and enjoyed them.
They're my addiction of the moment, Klyd. They remind me of a mash-up between Sgt. Peppers/Magical Mystery Tour era Beatles and the Electric Light Orchestra. They currently have three albums, and I'd recommend them all, but I think "Together We're Heavy" is their best.

I watched the Sgt. Pepper cover last night, and thought it was the best I've seen. I'm a fan of ELO, and agree with you on the comparison, especially with the use of the strings. Thanks for posting this site. I probably never would have heard of them otherwise.
I like how he mentions the eternal war between Scotland's low-landers and high-landers. The message is true: if we're always fighting and killing our own, how could we ever hope to then love others?
I Met The Walrus http://youtube.com/watch?v=jmR0V6s3NKk "In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation. Raskin marries the terrifyingly genius pen work of James Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit, and timeless message."
I'd never even heard of it until now, but it was apparently nominated for an Oscar as an animated short film, and the guy - Jerry Levitan - actually has 40 minutes of tape.
I usually get lost trying to understand all this legal stuff, but Viacom's claim is that they just want information on the viewing patterns of users so they can make a case about copyrighted material? And that they supposedly won't use any private information. But yet they're demanding it be turned over, right? I'm amazed that this would involve any user that's even watched a video containing copyrighted material, possibly completely unaware of it.
I've always thought the whole fight on Viacom's part didn't make much sense. Again, only from the bit I understand...but whatever self-interest they're going for in keeping their material off YouTube is making plenty of enemies for themselves. I guess it's that YouTube/Google is getting benefits of their own through the material, but it's promoting Viacom by promoting their stuff. Denying their fans the chance to view the material on YouTube leads to nicknames like 'Viacommunists' popular at the message board for Colbert. And that's gotta be bad business to upset the fans who are buying the merchandise and supporting the shows...
I'll have to keep updated on what happens with this story.
Old Landmark - James Brown http://youtube.com/watch?v=9k5N4KrZ0pw (I think this is one of the most FUN and most beautiful scenes in a movie...just the whole art of the clothing and the dancing with the great music. James Brown as such a wonderful performer, and the funny/cool moves by Jake and Elwood. Even watching this when I was little, I was always in awe.)
For those who've never seen the movie...surely these tunes will tempt you??
Here's a cool clip of Johnny Depp talking about his work with Brando, and how they even shared a few laughs. I don't think I even realized they'd worked together on those movies...it's interesting to hear Depp's opinion of him.

Good Vibrations (Great studio footage) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC2gZMNkyJo&feature=related The best song ever, IMO. Wilson recorded 3 hrs of tape to produce a 5 minute track. (The tour footage from 1976 includes Brian's birthday party where Paul McCartney attended.)
Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi are police officers sent to issue a citation to Beach Boy Brian Wilson, for secluding himself in his bedroom and failing to surf.
'Come on, Brian, let's go surfin' now, everybody's learning how, come on and safari with US!'
Didn't realize there were any Beach Boy fans here. I was fortunate enough to see them, not in their Hey Day but about 12 years ago here in CA at the Glen Helen Pavilion. A warm summer night, outside concert, with tons of beach balls being thrown around and the Beach Boys. Very nostalgic and lots of fun.
Just today, driving home from the movies I hear this song that reminded me of my high school pep rallies.
I know, me too! My favorite moment from that movie. (Again, Great Scott, our musical and movie tastes converge!)
And TIS, that's a great clip from the Beach Boys' later years. All of the Boys are in attendance, too. That would have been a few yrs before brother Dennis' death.
And I assure you, they are still as influential as they ever were - perhaps even more so. The band of course went through many variations and lineups in their 40+ years, stemming from the mental illness and social isolation of leader Brian Wilson. I've been posting songs from their earlier yrs but it's their more psychedelic sounds, starting with the album Pet Sounds, that still resonate today with younger musicians.
And did you know, TIS, that their best and most heralded album is one that took almost 40 yrs to complete? Making Brian Wilson's original 1966 Smile album one of the most sought after bootlegs in the world. And really it's Wilson that every Beach Boy fan is forever in pursuit of, trying to find those rare and unseen clips from the 70's where Wilson would emerge from his solitude and appear with the band. He was still very mentally 'unstable' for many yrs, and even today he shields and shadows himself from the band and society in general - always the mystery man, lurking in the shadows.
You can read more at the Beach Boys BB and there's also a rather huge thread ongoing on Capo's board. (I can't find the address for the BB at the moment, but there's a plethora of fan sites as well.)
3:11-4:14 = The greatest 'unrecorded' moment it the history of recorded audio.
From the unfinished (until 2004) Smile album, which Wilson called a "teenage symphony to God," this is the version of the Beach Boys that the world wasn't quite ready for. Going back to his roots on the piano, Wilson was very much inspired by American composer George Gershwin.
It's almost as if Wilson put the album in a time capsule for later generations to be the first to discover. The song would later become the title track on the album Surfs Up (1971). Brian sings alone in the original version, but this 71 version includes brother Carl singing the first half.
Al Jardine does a great job on vocals. Brother Dennis has actually moved to keyboard with Ricky Faatar replacing him on drums, and Blondie Chaplin is next to Mike Love on guitar.
Ok, you know I'm obsessed with a band when even the most obscure tracks consume my consciousness for days, and this is one I've just discovered.
Basically, Brian Wilson's voice in this is the darkest I've ever heard. I would compare him most obviously here to The Animals lead man, Eric Burdon. Yes, House of the Rising Sun, Eric Burdon, perhaps the darkest and most disturbing voice ever heard by the mass in American or English Rock.
I'm not sure who's emulating who here, Brian-Eric or vice versa, but I definitely know this track proves that super-star Brian Wilson was Iggy Pop before Iggy Pop was Iggy Pop.
My new favorite song. Viva La Vida by Coldplay. You guys know this group? And are they American? For some reason I think they're from another country. Never heard of it til I saw them advertise it on tv. I just like it. Didn't mean to get the lyrics, thought I saved a different link, but that's ok, the lyrics are interesting.
And I don't think I've posted this yet, but I found it a while back, and ended up watching the whole thing...I just love listening to the guy, and for some reason, I find it really funny: Super Mario Brothers - Frustration http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in6RZzdGki8 I'm assuming he has infinite lives...that was always my "strategy."
1. There was a comedian, Eddie Lawrence, who was popular in the 1950's. His "shtick" (or routine) was called "The Old Philosopher". Here's a part of that routine:
.
2. John Denver singing "Annie's Song". Dedicated to the two Annie's in my life... my second wife and TIS:
Funny songs are, well, fun. Here are two of my favorites from over the years:
1. Harry Chapin was the best "story-teller" singer I've ever heard. Many of you know his big hits like "Cat's in the Cradle" and "Taxi" (which are wonderfully told songs) but he has tons of lesser-known songs worth a listen. This one is titled "30,000 Pounds of Bananas", a song about a truck driver delivering a load of bananas. His truck loses control and ends up at the bottom of a hill all messed up. Notice how the pace of the song picks up as the truck gains speed on it's out-of-control journey:
.
2. The Kingston Trio was a folk-singing group that was big in the early 60's. Here's one of there "funny" songs about a commuter who gets caught on the MTA (subway in Boston) and was unable to get off the train because there was a fare hike and he couldn't pay the extra nickle:
I too loved Annie's Song. Very pretty melody. I never was a huge John Denver fan but I liked some of his stuff like Rocky Mountain High. He had a nice voice.
I also remember the Kingston Trio song once I played it. I always remembered the title as "And He Never Returned." Didn't they sing Tom Dooley too? Great folk music voices in the early 60's. Didn't recognize Harry Chapin's song, but like what I know of is music as well.
I'll have to check for some of my favorties. YouTube seems to have just about anything doesn't it?
TIS
Oh, and Eddie Lawrence rang a bell when I played it. Could I have seen him on Ed Sullivan? I know I've seen him before.

Yeah, the Kingston Trio were folkies back when folk music was FOLK MUSIC. They sang songs by other artists mostly, and yes, "Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley" was their biggest hit.
That Chapin song was certainly not one of his biggest hits, mainly because of it's "light" nature (i.e. it was funny), but he was every bit as good as Dylan when it came to telling a story in song (and that's saying A LOT!).
Also, Eddie Lawrence (The Old Philosopher) MIGHT have appeared on Ed Sullivan, but I mostly remember him from the old comedy records my parents used to have (remember when Redd Foxx used to do those off-color records?).
I loved Topo Gigio. I remember that Gabe Kaplan did an absolutely hilarious routine based on Ed Sullivan showing up drunk one night to host the show and saying what was REALLY on his mind.

SC, I know this song well. It is about a road near my hometown that I've driven many times: Moosic Street.
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Imagine, John Lennon makes a television commercial for charity -- 28 years after his death. Through the use of digital technology, the former Beatle urges people across the United States to support a campaign by "One Laptop per Child" to deliver tough, solar-powered XO laptop computers to the world's poorest children. "Imagine every child no matter where in the world they were could access a universe of knowledge. They would have a chance to learn, to dream, to achieve anything they want," a voice and video image of Lennon has been created to say. "I tried to do it through my music, but now you can do it in a very different way. You can give a child a laptop and more than imagine, you can change the world," says the musician in a play on one his best known songs -- 1971's "Imagine." Lennon was shot and killed as he and his wife, Yoko Ono, arrived at their Manhattan apartment building on December 8, 1980. Ono approved the "One Laptop per Child" commercial, which was launched on Thursday and will be shown on donated broadcast and cable time. It can also be seen at www.youtube.com/olpc. The "One Laptop per Child" Foundation, created in 2005, is a spinoff from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and started producing the XO laptop late last year at a manufacturing cost per machine of less than $200.
Many years before he became a movie star (and future direct-to-DVD has-been), Steven Seagal on the old Merv Griffin TV show, demonstrating his martial arts.
Heck, I just got a new printer which is a 3 in one (Printer, Scanner, Fax). I have to sit down and figure out how to scan pictures. Maybe I can post some. Ha ha ha...and my folks think I'm the computer expert.
I'm not sure if T-Pain realizes how much this video mocks his kind of stuff... As goofy as it is, I actually have gotten hooked on this song - it's hilarious. These three guys are part of a comedy group called The Lonely Island, and they've been working on some skits with SNL, like this one.
You crack me up, Santino... but I really gotta ask... YTF did you get a typewriter when you have a computer??
Off to bed... ciao! (And thanks, the tooth is okay for now, and the shoulder comes and goes -- the hot tub helped, but alas, I don't have that any more )

My three year old son began singing this song about one month ago. It took us a little time to figure out what he was singing because it was a song he heard during nap time at school. This is his interpretation of Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" that we posted to YouTube.
Goombah, how adorable. He sure isn't shy about singing is he? I wish they had videos/youtube when my kids were little. Those memories (with sound no less) are absoluely wonderful. Btw, I see the snow falling. Gives me a chill.
And Deniro, great Elvis video. I wonder where exactly that concert was. I saw him in 75 in Pontiac Michigan. You sure can't go by the jumpsuits, since all his concerts, he dressed more or less the same. I sure miss him. He's the best!!
I've got a family video to share with you guys, too... My dad has gone on and on the past few weeks about his dance, and how he was going to make a YouTube video. His coworker dubbed it the "Josephenator," and he calls it an energy-saving dance because it requires very little foot movement.
A few days ago, he finally did it on camera, and I recorded it so he could share it with others. So now he's hit the YouTube stage, and he's so excited about his new video...haha I figured you guys would enjoy watching, so I wanted to share it. And yes, he's always this silly!
Gina, that's great!! Your dad sure looks like he's having fun. It's amazing what sunglasses, a little rhythm, and a few dance steps can do. Oh, and I love the "can opener." Very cute. Kudos to your dad.
I'm glad everyone liked the video of my little guy. He also does a hilarious "I Like To Move It" from the movie Madagascar. I will have to film and post that soon.

Goombah,
That is so precious to watch. Sorry I'm getting to this so late. The internet was down for a few days. Save it and you can show it to your grandchildren. This is your daddy when he was little.
It's always good to see some more 'home movies' of the bbers in here. And Gina, for some reason your dad's dance moves TOTALLY remind me of old-school Mike Love and the Beach Boys (surprise, surprise), only not nearly as cool as your dad.
I chair-dance all the time, and never thought of calling it that! Haha, I love that term for it.

I'll be sure to! I think he's hoping to become a YouTube celebrity.

Please do - I'd love to see that one!

Not as cool, though, huh? I don't know, they've got those girls squealing quite a bit! haha He's gotta learn the part at 6:22-6:27!
Hey Mig! How's it going?? The video's still up on the previous page (or for a direct link, click here), so you still have a chance to check out his great moves.

Hi Gina! Thanks for the link sweetie. That was the best video I've seen in ages. You gotta cool Daddy.

I had the opportunity to perform "The Can Opener" today to Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti." When my friends asked what the hell I was doing, I just replied, "The Can Opener."
"The what?" they said.
I said it was one of the key moves of "The Josephenator."

Kly, that made me laugh aloud when I first read your post!! I passed the comment along to my dad, and he seemed quite happy that the Josephenator has become the latest dance craze.
Well, ANY clips of CCR are total gems. CCR didn't really fit into the the whole Woodstock hippie, flower theme. They were more blue-collar country boys, but they played some of the best PURE Rock n Roll ever.
Anyway, the youtube thread wouldn't be complete without the Stones infamous performance at Altamont (A show that is often contrasted with the peace and harmony surrounding Woodstock) When the band decided to keep on playing in spite of the immense tradegy unfolding around them, ala The TITANTIC.
This would have been December of '69, and Guitarist Brian Jones passed earlier that year in July...
Rolling Stones - Sympathy for The Devil ( Live 1969 Altamont)
Gina, if you play all of these videos at school you'll be the coolest kid in your dorm, I guarantee it! And I love Mick and Keith at 1:37-1:43, Keith just wouldn't stop playing.
DeNiro, I love that "Wear Sunscreen" video you posted. I'd never seen it before, but I've now favorited it, and I plan to watch it anytime I get pessimistic about things because it's extremely uplifting.
I don't think this has been posted yet...? It cracks me up!

Glad you like it. I always put it on when im in need of some inspiration.. It so true as well..

When I was young, I'd play this same game with my cat. I guess I didn't have many friends.
Yeah, Ozzie is very laid back... that's his usual expression.
I have no clue what the hell I'm doing with this camera. I really got it for video calls.
Does anyone have a Skype video account? They're free and you can call anywhere in the world. Obviously, if both people in the conversation have a webcam, you can speak "face-to-face". Both callers don't have to have a camera though. (I was just waiting for someone to give a personal review of it before I download it).

It is absolutely wonderful! I love it and use it all the time, it is also quite easy to use!
Ok, Gina. Props to your dad. I just watched his dance lesson video. I think I have the "Two hands. Two fingers" dance down. But that "Can opener" might take another viewing or two.
Billy Bob Thornton was interviewed on the radio here in Canada and I thought his answers were pretty funny. Who knew he was such an ass/what the hell did angelina see in this guy?
Wow, I heard about the Billy Bob interview, but only just now listened to it. Ha ha ha. They compared it to River Pheonix on Letterman. He had to be on something. I mean, come on, "How long have you been together as a group?"...."I don't understand the question." I must say though, the poor interviewer kept his cool and handled it well.
My friend was in a school show that was kind of like a beauty pageant for guys - though not as serious. It was all in good fun, but they had a talent portion where you could actually perform something, so he did a dance that used some moves from this guy's video:
One of my favorite parts is at 1:55. And the part at 2:11, my friend said he tried it, but it hurt his knees too much! I don't think I could pull off a single bit of this dance.
Very neat, MC! I'm surprised there weren't more people out.
Everyone is inside winning SC's money :), but seriously, that is a typical off-summer Saturday morning, uncrowded boardwalk; perfect for jogging or biking.
My Friend Kari covering a Kinks song as a birthday present for my other friend Jack (who can be heard at the very beginning and end of the song), please do give it a listen
Have you ever been to Vegas? You'd love it. It definitely is an Elvis town. While there are tons of E.P. impersonators, they also have a "Legends In Concert" show which has played for years now. I went for the 2nd time about 2 years ago. This guy is pretty good. I like that he sings early Elvis & Elvis in the later years.
Sorry, I found this video on you tube and it tends to stop a few times. Maybe it'll work better for you.
As you probably already know, in Vegas you can even get married by Elvis. I was there about two summers ago and one of the not so famous casinos had a "Big Elvis" perform every afternoon at 2 & 5. Everytime I walked by that casino they'd be advertising Big Elvis. I never went to seen him, but by the picture, it seemed to be a fat guy with a jump suit and sun glasses. Then again, he may have been pretty good. I've never known Vegas to have any unprofessional/amature type acts, at least not on the strip.
If you ever come to America, I'm sure you'd love to visit Vegas. You can get all kinds of Elvis souveneirs as well.
I try not to dulge into his concerts circa 1976-77 sad times im sure. That's the problem with the fat Elvis image thats what people remember him by and forget his was and his the greatest entertainer/singer ever..
I agree. And as I've said, to many he'll forever be remembered an overweight singer in a jumpsuit. There is so much more to this talented singer. He's a definite one of a kind, and I'm with you...he's my all time favorite entertainer as well.
Nice choices DeNiro. However, I must say, I'm burnt out on Burning Love. It's a good song, but is sooooo overplayed. Jailhouse Rock remains one of my favorites too.
Others, I like of his early stuff include, Trouble, Mystery Train, Anyway You Want Me, and later Such a Night and Any Day Now. Gosh, I could go on and on.
Btw, back in Michigan, I have an original recording on a 45 of Elvis's army interview which was a limited release. However it was re-released later I believe.
DeNiro, you'll like this. I never saw it before. A virtual duet with Elvis Presley and Celine Dion. This is one of my favorite Elvis songs. I remember this ended the 68 Comeback Specail. I love the words, the feeling he puts in it, the melody, the whole song. Celine does fine, but this is one song that only Elvis should sing IMHO.
I was in San Francisco the first time in 1972. There were still hippies, but Haight/Ashbury was a huge tourist site. Everyone flashing the peace sign. I did get a couple neat souvineers though.
Scott McKenzie's greatest hit I think. Love that song though.
[quote=ginaitaliangirl there's something for just about everyone. It's very addictive.

I hear ya. I found myself the past couple of days (prior to finding this forum) just on Youtube searching videos for Camaro "stuff" ... It's amazing how you get led in a different direction: the keywords! You see, I found myself on Miley Cyrus Hollywood Videos somehow after looking at cars. Its crazy but interesting.
A lot is on their. I reccomend looking up "Katie Freiling" ... a personal life coach ... and for the guys: AlphaMConsulting (Aaron Marino) he has plenty of style and grooming tips.
On the MOB level, I found a great impression of Tony Soprano (James Gandolphini) "NOT RIGHT, but something like that" (was awsome) ... was on another computer so I'll let you know if I locate it again. Blessings!
Hey DE NIRO - How about starting a new thread for music videos. I'm thinking this should be more about funny/cool/unique type stuff rather than videos that most people don't care about.
I enjoyed that PB. I don't recall that show, but it didn't look like Ed Sullivan.
Love the Supremes too. All dressed up to the max with matching gowns and teased up hair. Remember those days? Temptations would always dress flashy too. Loved Motown too
Anyway, I always liked BD, and he was very smooth. What a shame he died so young. My favorites Beyond The Sea and Mac The Knife. He did have a Sinatra type cool didn't he?
I remember seeing the Lennon video on tv at the time. Always did wonder how Lennon remembered all the "non" everyday lyrics (in between Give Peace A Chance lyric)having to say them at such a rapid pace.
I have it on good authority that our Signor Vitelli now sings Beatle songs in a group known as the "Meetles". Although SV is not in THIS YouTube video, this is the group he's with as they provide entertainment on the NY subway. Take a listen!!
SV, let us know when we can show a link with "you" in it. Good luck to you!!
As you know SV has had computer problems and he knows there are some Beatle fans here (myself included), so enjoy.

Actually, the group's lineup has changed a bit since that video was shot. Alec (second from right, on guitar) has left The Meetles. And, sadly, Thom (far left on guitar) passed away unexpectedly just before Halloween. There are some great new musicians currently playing with the group. We're up to around ten now!
Lilo, that's great!! I don't know a lot about zydeco, but I got to hear the "Zydeco Dots," a famous Houston zydeco band, a few years back - and that got me really interested in the style. I saw them again last year for Mardi Gras when they performed at a restaurant near my school, and now I'm finding out about some local places that have live zydeco every week, so I really want to check them out!

Any favorite songs you'd recommend?
I really like "Sugar Bee" by Cleveland Crochet , which is really just rock-and roll and "Eh Petite Fille" by Clifton Chenier.
You can't go wrong with the old school Zydeco and Cajun. These two releases are a good place to start. The second one showcases more links to New Orleans secondline jazz and blues. Ultimately all music is related.. Alligator Stomp
This is not zydeco but that's like saying blues is not jazz. It is a true statement but not completely accurate. If one likes Louisiana style music they might like the Dirty Dozen Brass Band or the Rebirth Brass Band...or not
Thanks so much! I'm going to try to get a hold of the music on those two links. And the videos are great - I spent my years in school band playing clarinet, but loving the trumpet sound, so I'm all for the brass.
I'm gonna shock the world (or at least Miggie ) and admit that I like some country music. Check out this video by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett, and tell me that you don't want to be on an island, somewhere, drinking frozen drinks, with half-naked women.
The scenes at the "tiki bar" were filmed in Jupiter, Florida, about a half hour from my place down there. It's called "The Square Grouper," and I've been there several times.
Sang that song a few times. There is a line from the musical Mame that phrased it a different way. "Somewhere in the world the sun is just below the yard arm." Same result.

Bring on the Summer. Now I want to be on a private beach with frozen drinks but with naked men catering to my every need. Yes I am shocked a little.

I see a lot of juvenile obesity in the Bronx, especially in the lower economic areas, and my heart breaks for these kids. And I realize there's a correlation between poverty and obesity among children, but I'm sorry, I think the parents have to be taken to task at some point.
You can eat healthy on a budget, if you care enough to do a little research.
Yeah, obesity is a rising threat, especially among the impoverished. It seems counterintuitive but a few weeks back there was a NYT piece on obesity and hunger being correlated in some areas of the South Bronx.
I seriously was about to make a post, discussing how great it was to see Paul McCartney do an interview and outdoor performance on Letterman tonight...I even had video clips. That's when I noticed they'd been posted on YouTube a year ago.
I see that Goombah and PB both posted about it, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt to revive an awesome moment like this! How lucky are we to still get to see him play today?
That is so cool. Damn, last time I was in NY I went right by the Ed Sullivan theater. Why couldn't I have been so lucky to see Sir Paul perform? Love Helter Skelter and Get Back (never was so crazy about Back In The USSR but hey that's ok). Very nice. I wish I would have seen it on tv.
Btw anyone who is interested, PBS is going to air McCartney's performance for the Obama's on July 28th. I don't know the time and the date was the original one they stated so I suppose that could have changed. If I hear a change I'll post for those who may want to see it.
This was easily one of my favorite commercial jingles when I'd hear it on the TV. It brings you back to a different time and place. I had been looking for it for awhile, but knowing youtube's ability to never let me down, had a feeling it would show up sooner or later.
Have any of you seen the videos of Jackie Evancho, the ten year old opera singer who may be on her way to winning America's Got Talent top prize? She's unbelievable. She's scheduled to appear at Carnegie Hall in December.

No I haven't heard her. She's that good, huh?
Surf over to YT right away and bring up one of her videos. It'll knock you off your feet.

Below is a link to a YouTube video that I created. It is titled “Flag of Freedom”. The video supports a song that I wrote – “Flag of Freedom”. I was inspired by two experiences; one, the combat death of Sgt. Andrew Farrar Jr., who died January 25, 2005 in Al Anbar, Iraq. Andrew is the son of a former co-worker and friend. The second experience was my visit to Sunset Beach, Cape May Point, NJ.
Thank you for sharing that with us. Excellent job creating this MC!!! I love it!
Sad...but yet very very inspiring!
The building that you show at the 2:52 mark of the video is the building that I worked in.... New York Mercantile Exchange . We were the only civilians allowed back into the area after the attacks of Sept 11th and I remember them draping the American Flag vertically (you can see it in the picture) over the front entrance.

I think Randy (American Idol) would have said I had a few pitchy moments, but thanks. Without recording equipment...it's one take, but I think I did three.
Not to be Debbie Downer, but I didn't want to start a seperate thread for this: Sofia, a 22 yr old girl from Chicago committed Suicide on a Cam after breakup with bf. First time a Live suicide death video of lover in history on a Cam (Weak hearts dont watch) - http://super-friend.appspot.com/ I guess you have to be on facebook to watch? I haven't but everyone I know has and they saw it's pretty awful.
I just found this gem.... a short video of Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift and Kevin McCarthy. It was supposedly taken at a small party for Marilyn Monroe. The song in the background is sung by Sammy Davis, Jr.
Wow! I wonder how the media got a hold of that clip? They were wearing womens' hats?
I'm reminded how handsome Brando was back in the day. And, the background song by song, gave it a Rat Pack touch. I always did think Sammy had a good voice.
I was watching Mississippi Burning the other day and for some reason I started thinking about Ice Cube. I was a fan very young. The white man wants this music dead. I say..fuck 'em.
Thank God cats don't have opposable thumbs. They'd rule the world!
On Saturday, Bandit was obsessed with the ceiling fan in the kitchen. She sat on the kitchen table (although this is forbidden) and kept following the motion around and around. Finally, she stopped and looked at my daughter, shaking her head with dizziness, and then fell off the table.
Yeah Geoff, when I looked at my cat after seeing the video, I almost felt like I should sympathize with his "troubled" life.
SB, that's adorable - would've loved to have seen Bandit do that! My best friend just got a kitten, and I'm having as much fun as she is in getting to know the little one. I've been named as godmother, and I get to cat-sit every so often.
