Uh, why don't you post a
difficult question...
If I exclude all of "Rubber Soul" (their finest album and just about the best pop album ever made), I like "The Night Before" from "Help!" The
quintessential Beatles pop tune--Paul at his bounciest. Lots of others rocked more, or were more intellectually satisfying, but "Night Before" is the near-ideal.

I'm not a big Beatles fan and yet I do belive they were great song writers, John & Paul in particular. Their masterpice, "Yesterday" is well-recorded by them and when interpreted by a solo artist in a slower tempo you have a great torch song of unmesurable magnatude. The lyrics are just so powerful...
"Something" is also a great song. Lovely melody and lyrics...

There are very few I don't love, but if I have to pick a favorite it would be "a Day in the Life" simply because it was an instant piece of classical music (an lyrics), and it clearly established the Beatles as the best musical group of their age.

Album? Easy.
Hi Vitelli!
I've never seen that before.
Reminds me though, I also like Maxwell's Silver Hammer. A very strange song, but kind of catchy nonetheless.
Of course, speaking strange, what about Revolution #9 #9 #9 #9 #9 #9.....I think I pretty much memorized it right away!!!
Btw, that's John's voice right?????

Elenor Rigby,Yesterday,Norwegian wood.
This is such a daunting task,But since i'm going to have to chose,Norwegian wood.
The problem I have with chosing beatles songs is it turns into beatles albums,Then we're here all day.

Re: Your number one favorite Beatles song? - 11/18/06 02:59 AM
I've never seen that before.
Actually, this was the cover of a birthday card from a couple of years ago. As many people know, I save just about everything.
So where ya been, TIS? On strike? It's safe to come back now, "The Troubles" seem to be over!
But it is just so difficult to actually come up with a Beatles song I can say is truly my favorite. Perhaps because I lived through their entire active period, it becomes a case of "so many songs, so many
particular memories".
But if I do decide on one special song, I'll return here and post it.

There are far too many to pick ONE favorite.
This is the first thing I thought as well... but then again if you could take the top 2 or 3 songs you would listen to, which would be the first you would listen to? For me I like Hey Jude and Blackbird as my top two... but I think I would always listen to Blackbird first, so I would have to say that is my favorite song (surpisingly even to myself).
So if you took the top "bunch" of songs and chose the first song you would actually listen to, which would it be?
Posted By: AppleOnYa
Re: Your number one favorite Beatles song? - 11/19/06 02:02 PM
Sure, a 'bunch' come to mind immediately when The Beatles are even mentioned. Some I enjoy simply for the lovely harmonies more than the song itself.
But..Far too many to pick one favorite.

My Fav Beatles song for the lyrics are..
I am the Walrus
A day in the life
Strawberry Fields
Penny Lane
Something
It's interesting how everyone's taste is different. I have that album BB, and recently purchased the CD trying to choose my favorite albums from my record collection and get them on CD.
Anyway, although I don't think Blackbird is a bad song, if I had to skip over one song on the album, that would probably be the one.
Oh another favorite of mine is "Girl" (I think that's the title).

TIS
I'm insulted!!
Okay, not really
I can see why blackbird would be the song to skip, it's very different from their other songs on that album. I think the reason I like it so much is, other than liking the tune, is that it is a very intimate low production song. And if you listen carefully you can hear Lennon's foot tapping on the floor.
But I agree that it really is interesting to hear everybody's different tastes in Beatles songs. I think that goes to show how incredible that band is that they have so many songs that we all come up with different favorites!
