I'm not going to do the test only to realize my ideal man is not Al Pacino but Charlize Theron. It would be devastating!

I was also shocked to see the "100", but then I realized it was just loading the "meter" and I had to click again for results---I got 16 percents gay.

I'm actually one of the worst to blame for being stereotypically gay whether in real life or in the e-world. I really don't see anything bad here that has been said. If there has been I apologise maybe you can enlighten us with anything you particularly find offensive. Personally I'm rather glad that a little homoeroticism is taken, in this day and age, as a bit of fun rather than offensive.

The actual thread itself was a wee bit of fun. A gay o meter is rather unjust though. Maybe a Camp meter would be more apt.

Hey, I'm tolerant and mature to this kind kind of thing, but if you can't take a joke... Well, then, screw you. (Not you in particular, I am making a generalization). If you're so emotionally insecure, and to the point where you can't take a joke, then don't read them.

Hey Chilltown - On behalf of most everyone here, I'm sure no one intended any disrespect. I admit I'm guilty myself of going overboard sometimes -- but never in a hateful manner. In any event, sorry if anything I said was disrespectful or intolerant.

Send me a PM if you have any particular issues w/ any of the posts here, even if they're mine. And if you think that this thread has run its course, I'll respect your wishes and shut it down if that's what you want.

Pointed Noted With respect:

But there is NO reason in my mind that this thread should be closed just because one person has a problem. If that was the case we wouldn't have any threads around here. Your problem shouldn't become everyones problem. Geoff always knows when things get out of control.

Geoff, if you close this tread because he has a problem then it become a form of censorship do to subject matter.
Since when do we close threads because someone doesn't like something.

He has two options. 1) Bypass the tread 2) Do what he just did, post his comments and let the people respond to them, even if he doesn't like them.

But closing is not an offer that should be put on the table.
I hope this isn't being done because of the subject matter.

Look i dont want to be seen as a kill-joy, cuz truthfully that isnt the case. Nor would i want this thread to be shut down-i truly don't! my concern is at the tone acting as if noone here could be gay and that its like a joke. i once at one time a very active poster here and an EXTREMELY active member of the movie board. I remember the board having a different attitude toward the subject when i stopped visiting regularly. i guess you wouldnt understand unless you were put in my place that it gets extremely tiresome for people who are likely straight to simply associate being gay with words such as fabulous and the funny uncle syndrome.
And trust me in regards to having a sense of humor about the situation i have no problem having a laugh at my own expense. I've done the stereotypical drag show but at the same time its heartbreaking to read a thread that is in good humor-as this one is-and then see response denying homosexuality, making generalizations, and just, imo, being unsympathetic.

In short i'm sorry if i caused a rukus, lol i didnt mean it to be a grand return, but just be a little bit more aware.

First of all, you have already stated this once already.

Second, how in the world do you know if any of the rest of us are gay or not! Just because you are uptight about things, why do the rest of people have to run for cover.
you say you don't want to be a kill-joy but you are.

Why don't you just stay out of this thread then?

Gay people don't scare us here, we can talk about subjects and not be afraid of them ( the subjects) here. If you want to repeat yourself one more time about the fact that there may be Gay people on this board, I think you should understand that we Know that already. They also are our friends. We are not bashing them. And for all you know others may be gay and they don't need someone sticking them back in the closet behind close doors with complaints.

Do we not? tell jokes about people, places, states ect.

Oh, and by the way:
Quote:

doesn't make you any better around here then the rest of us.

If you don't like the thread, PLEASE stay away! Thanks

I understand your point, but I think that flagrant homosexuality, which we are mocking here (not necessarily the act of homosexuality itself, which I happen to disagree with, but that's not the point), is subject to the same ridicule as is marriage, heterosexual sex, politics, and any other number of assorted topics. Just because something is sensitive to one particular person doesn't necessarily mean that it is in the interest of the majority to stop them from doing it.

What I'm trying to say is this - I think marriage is a sacred and noble institution that should be treated with the utmost respect - that doesn't mean I'm not going to laugh at Partagas' jokes about it. I don't think it offends anyone here who is married, and even if it did, they are a bit too hypersensitive to tell the difference between bashing and humour.

It's like my policy on Chappelle - we make fun of everybody, no exceptions. We don't discriminate.

Re: Gay-O-Meter - 07/01/05 10:22 AM

There is no need that members who have not even posted their scores to jump into the anti-gay/pro-gay discussion here. Some members like to joke around with each other's scores, that's nothing to concern others whether they are gay or not. No one can tell people who are happy about getting a low or a high score why they think the way they do, being gay is repulsive to straights as being straight is repulsive to homosexuals while this is pointless to bisexuals.

In short post your scores and keep your discussions out of here, otherwise I ask JG or SC to close this topic down; we'd our little fun, this is going in the wrong way.

Sorry afsaneh, but scores have nothing to do with what people post or don't post. Threads always change as people add their thoughts as this one did. I know for a fact you and other have done the same thing to other threads. In fact it seems to be the norm on threads. You just can't control the way threads go.

Someone posted their thoughts and others commented to them.
You put up the starting post and others add on to them. If you want to close your starting thread all you have to do is close your first post, you don't need Geoff or SC to do it.

It would be a shame to close any thread because someone doesn't like something in it. Just like I told Geoff above.
It then becomes a form of censorship to subject matter.

Most threads run their course and need to either bend and change, or just die away by themselves when those involved lose interest. Have a great day!

Actually I think you are right. So carry on, although I don't mind seeing this thread being closed.

Sorry to go off-topic here, but I find it very ironic that the same guy who, just a few weeks ago, in one of his multitudinous diatribes told people to stop acting like they own the place and bossing people around is telling a member to stay away from a topic.

Carry on.

Boy, I am really amazed at you. You mean you can't tell the difference between this and that.
No way am I bossing people or playing Board Police. Go back and reread, Did I tell him not to post? Did I insult his opinion? or belittle him for them. After he came back into a thread that he said that he had a problem with, and then repeated his whole issue once again was:

"If you don't like the thread, PLEASE stay away! Thanks"

I don't feel that we should have any thread closed when people can just stay away. That is the issue and that was MY OPINION on a SOLUTION instead of it having to be closed.

And if you get a kick out of riding me, so be it. That's my answer and I'm sticking to it!

Re: Gay-O-Meter - 07/01/05 03:34 PM

How about this:

Quote:
Geoff, if you close this tread because he has a problem then it become a form of censorship do to subject matter.
Since when do we close threads because someone doesn't like something.

He has two options. 1) Bypass the tread 2) Do what he just did, post his comments and let the people respond to them, even if he doesn't like them.
Maybe this would clear things up for you.

Nothing is wrong in this thread. I laugh at stereotypes. Hell, Chappelle does it excellently. Blacks, whites, homosexuals, whatever. It is funny. In a debate, it's out of place, but in humor?

Phew: 16% Gay.

16 % percent gay probably because i am my mother's favourite.

84% Straight Because i am stingy, I don't want to spend on leather pants or a cleansing treatment and I do wait for my hair to grow long before i have a cut.

Glad to be Stingy. My Stinginess finally paid off.
