Train / Rail Excursions - 08/04/22 11:02 AM

I rode on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge back in the 70's. It was wonderful. I'm a novice railfan.

Sone of those excursion rail adventures are pretty cool. On the other hand, I've never known anyone who took Amtrak for transportation who wasn't delayed for at least 12 or more hours/

I actually got lucky on my two Amtrak excursions, and was not late by more than an hour.

Because delays seems to be on the rise, I would not travel on Amtrak, unless I could pay for at least a roomette. The meals are included, and the privacy is nice, to wait out long delays...

1st trip was Minneapolis to Seattle to LA.

2nd trip was Dallas to El Paso, and back.

Glad you had good experiences. How was the service on those trips? I read a lot of bad raps on Amtrack personnel.

Service on Amtrak is like service on other US transpiration services like airlines. Sometimes it's great, and other times it's otherwise.

My Amtrak excursions were done in the early to mid 1980's.
No issues with the service or the food.
