Anyone think it might have decline when 2017 report release?

The Republican party has made white supremacy part of its campaign strategy since the early 1960s, for over 50 years. While previous Republican presidential candidates used careful language and subtleties to lure racist whites, Trump used shockingly overt and direct language to attack Latino immigrants. This emboldened white supremacist groups, along with other homegrown right wing terrorist groups to force themselves onto the mainstream, and organize demonstrations in cities known for progressive activism, for the sake of provoking its citizens and instigating violence. The end result was a violent year, for certain.

I think oak is a clan member pointy hat and everything.

I recall a time following the election when nobody heard from Oak. Either his parents took away his internet privileges or he was too embarrassed to admit defeat. Regardless, he's back and carries on with his negative outlook towards our beautiful country. His posts are amusing but ludicrous.

I doubt there are too many white supremacists that vote Democrat anymore. I mean, why would they? The Republican party clearly better represents their views. If you mean there are white Democrats that are still closet racists, I won't argue with that. But KKK? Those who believe in white supremacy, as an ideology? I'd bet 99% of them now either vote Republican, or conservative independent.

I can't see why any white supremacist would vote Democrat. Why would they vote for the party whose platform on race is the opposite of what they believe? Just doesn't make sense. Would be like a Dreamer voting Republican.

Thats because the majority of republicans are not racist.
Most black supremacist groups such as the black panthers and black lives matter are democrats.
Most blacks have never been to aftica and know nothing about africa yet they call themselves african american as if they have some sort of pride in the actual continent. I could never quite get that.

Republican values like exaggerating the threat of undocumented brown immigrants. That's why white supremacists prefer them over Democrats.

You're honestly going to take one oddball case of a white supremacist running as a Democrat, probably as some sort of publicity stunt, and compare that to the Republican party's increasingly racist platform?

What would you say Democrats are doing as a whole to lure the racist white vote? I honestly can't think of anything. Their entire platform is designed to attract diversity.

I know there are racist liberals and Democrats. White liberals talking the talk, then rolling up their windows and calling the police when a black guy walks near their car, etc. I get that. But man, to say both parties today target the white supremacist vote? No. One party does.

There's more than this oddball case. Specifically the KKK was grounded in democrat party obviously and some still hold on to it regardless of the change of times. Overall I still can see racist/bigots being in both parties. I can't speak on why as well since my mind doesn't function like one.

What part of the Democratic party's modern day platform do you believe is designed to attract white supremacists?

It might be helpful for this thread's posters to examine some terms and their contextual meaning such as the Solid South, Radical Republicans, Dixiecrats, and, for those in Texas, Grovey vs. Townsend.

For what it's worth, from Wikipedia:

"The States' Rights Democratic Party (usually called the Dixiecrats) was a short-lived segregationist political party in the United States.."

Not the platform it speaks on but just another aceess to influence & power.

Something to remember when discussing about bigotry/rascism in the U.S. The 2017 report should be interesting.

Bigotry is another over used term and sensationalized by the left. Work hard, take care of your family, and you will probably never have to use the word bigotry. Bigotry is used by those that profit from its use. Its an insult to hard working whites and blacks.

The ADL had reported that antisemitic hate crimes had increased substantially in 2017. It's probably not too much of a leap to surmise that other categories will as well.

Bigotry is the mirror of those who focus on the issues of someone else's yard while ignoring their clutter.

Yeah the hate crime report from 2017 will be interesting and the report from 2018 will be insane
