I saw this years ago this kid was something special.

There was a kid named Jimmy Coyle a friend of my oldest son. They played little league together. hIs mother was a fantastic women she ran a pre k that my kids went to and one grand child went to. She also help run Joe torre soccer.

He always wanted to be a firemen. He finally did and was in a firehouse near the WTC. He loved the firehouse so much he would go there on his day off. When the planes hit was on his day off. He went with them and he died with them.

I don't go to funerals normally. But I went to his a real good kid.

Oh my wife worked at one of the WTC buildings.

Nicky, thanks for posting this story. I never saw this. I know the firehouse in Nyack. I grew up in Rockland County and knew guys who belonged to that house.

There has been a turnover of members to the GBB. Myself and Don Cardi were there that day. We've told our story in the past. I don't have the mental energy to retell the story of my day. Suffice it to say it was probably the most unforgettable day of my life. Unfortunately I have a photographic memory and I wish I could erase the visions of that day.

The story of Welles Crowther typifies the American spirit. May it never die.

There was a story on YouTube about a company of firemen. The commander told them in side the wtc that they might not get out alive. The shook each other's hands saying goodbye. Only one survived.

That why I respect firemen and soldiers and no one else.

I can't imagine what was going through there minds as they made their way up the towers, knowing they may not survive,,

Welles was a very special young man. His family has been very active in community outreach. Their strength and courage is incredible.
