Report: Bill Cosby testified in 2005 that he obtained drugs to give women for sex

Bill Cosby testified under oath a decade ago that he obtained sedatives to give to women, according to the Associated Press. The wire service — which went to court to compel the public release of documents detailing the admission — reported that Cosby intended to use the drugs on women he wanted to have sex with.

From the AP:

The 77-year-old comedian was testifying under oath in a lawsuit filed by a former Temple University employee. He testified he gave her three half-pills of Benadryl.

Cosby settled that sexual-abuse lawsuit for undisclosed terms in 2006. His lawyers in the Philadelphia case did not immediately return phone calls Monday.

According to the AP, Cosby admitted to getting Quaaludes and giving them to at least one woman.

Cosby’s lawyers did not immediately return The Post’s request for comment regarding the AP report Monday evening.

Dozens of women have levied sexual assault allegations against the comedian over the past year. Cosby and his lawyers have denied them. and he has never been criminally charged.

The allegations created a firestorm of controversy and caused Cosby to stepped down from Temple’s board of trustees after three decades. He also had multiple television projects canceled, and his “Far From Finished” tour was plagued with cancellations and protests across the country.

Cosby’s lawyers recently argued that it would be “terribly embarrassing” for the comedian if the documents were to be unsealed.

I think the surprising thing from this and (most) of the countless UK celebrities, eventually found innocent I would add, from the 60/70ish era is that it took so long for most of these women to "find the strength" to now start jumping on the bandwagon just because they were felt up nearly 50 years ago - its mostly bullshit and, whilst I'm not saying it was right, it was mostly behaviour which was basically acceptable in that era - and nearly every guy on this board would have acted the same way at least once in that era, only for it to be "misconstrued" 40/50 years later. We're now applying todays standards.

Surely money isn't the driver, I think it is in many cases.

He's obviously done something, but what apparently makes it perceived as worse is his persona on the cosbies...ffs guys, he's an actor!!! If Johnny Depp/Colin Farrell etc etc were accused of the same, nobody would give a shit! Just because you buy into some actor being "wholesome" or "wild" doesn't mean they are in the slightest, surely thats obvious? Because thats whats at the crux of this scandal, in my opinion.

Drugging and raping women wouldn't be shrugged off if it was a different actor. Look at Roman Polanski

I think his story is that he used Benadryl in that instance, but I haven't seen his full deposition online yet. The early excerpts coming out are from the plaintiff's motion to sanction the defense attorney for disrupting the deposition. That document does seem to reference two women who said that they consensually took drugs from Cosby.

Ive not looked at all the documents (they're a nightmare to download), but from what I had heard and read, there was no unconscious women being raped after being forceably or unwittingly given drugs, correct me if I'm wrong and I totally understand.

Fuck, if I met Bill Cosby back then Id be accusing him of drugging me and giving me a hand job and least - that must be worth a few thousand! Unless its pay-per-inch I suppose, then we're talking about yachts! wink

To diverge, this is basically why I think Pete Rose very likely got a bet down on the Reds to lose at some point. His reputation as a competitor was such that I think he'd see it as currency that he could use to deflect any accusations.

And the paradox is, they live and die by their reputations....we've all heard it and how its so true

I am wondering if Cosby should be charged with a hate crime since all of his victims were white.

Re: Bill Cosby Admitted Giving Women Drugs - 07/10/15 06:49 PM

Obviously there is truth to the allegations, but...

In the book American Desperado, Jon Roberts mentions the widespread use of quaaludes at parties. The quaaludes were simply dumped into large bowls of punch...and the girls would chug it down. Those drugs were referred to as "leg openers" at the time. They served to turn on a woman's sexual nature, not incapacitate them.

Then take a look at Benadryl, mentioned above. Three one half pills of Benadryl will make you drowsy, but not drowsy enough that you are no longer responsible for your actions or incognizant. A full dose of benadryl is two whole pills, not three halves. People take benadryl everyday...and they can function. You can't rape them. They are not under hypnosis, nor are they magically obedient.

All of that said, I think if any of these women knowingly put a pill in their mouth, taken from Cosby's hand, I wouldn't call that particular instance rape. To me it would have been more incriminating for Bill if he was getting the women drunk from alcohol instead. Alcohol is altogether different.

you are right these charges are very serious, rape is always a terrible for a woman to get over, I just wish the dog would have been convicted of at least one.

he should not have been free to do it over, and over.

In Cosby's case it wasn't just the wholesome "The Cosby Show" that he starred in, but the books and public speaking engagements where he talked about culture and society, particularly black culture. There was some blowback from that and the Far Left has been waiting to jump on him for anything. He did it to himself in this case, sadly. His wife was interviewed and is basically okay that he cheated on her.

is his wife ok with- he raped women without their knowledge, it was according to many, not at all consensual.

The dude has been a national celebrity since the 1960s thanks to his stand-up (one of the all-time greats) and his TV series I SPY then add COSBY SHOW (one of the biggest hit programs of the 1980s), people loved him. Hell it's why won he got the Presidential Medal of Freedom, nobody thought twice about him.

Joe Paterno once upon a time was viewed as one of the "good guys" in college footage. Nobody believes that now.

I basically agree with you. What's worse, young boys or plain old rape? And Joe Paterno did turn a blind eye to it, which makes him guilty by association at the very least.

My younger daughter went to Penn State. She was there for that whole fiasco. Finding out that Paterno was aware of what was going on literally broke my heart. He's answering to God now, of that much I'm sure.

I just ordered the deluxe edition DVD on Amazon. I have a Prime account, so it's guaranteed to be here by tomorrow, July 18th. $5.00, brand new, including shipping. Prime costs $99 a year, but you get unlimited streaming on a lot of things and free shipping on Prime eligible items. It pays for itself in about a week around my house.

As far as the movie itself, I'll watch it over the weekend and start a thread in the movies and tv section, so be on the lookout. I love movies, so as far as I'm concerned, whatever differences we had in the past are over and done with, so you'll definitely get an honest appraisal from me. I'm actually looking forward to it now.
