Here’s a plan to bury corpses in pods, grow trees

There’s no denying it: Burying bodies is a huge waste of space that could be used by the rest of us who are still breathing. Even cremation, though cheaper and easier, can produce a lot of toxic waste.
But what if your dead body could be turned into a tree instead? Italian designers Anna Citelli and Raoul Bretzel are proposing just that, in the form of a biodegradable burial-pod project.

The “Capsula Mundi,” as it’s known, would encase a corpse in an egg-shaped seed capsule and then be buried underground with trees on top of them. As your body decomposes, the tree would gather nutrients from the decomposing pod, and the circle of life would march on.
The idea is just a hypothetical sketch at this point, but if it ever came to be reality, cemeteries would be replaced with lush memorial gardens.

Your dead body could nourish a beautiful tree.

“No designer ever thinks of a coffin,” the designers wrote on their website, “but this becomes a way of reflecting on how distant we are from Mother Nature.”

Pretty creepy but makes sense. Once the older gen dies off (who would NEVER go for something like this) seems like it would be the new norm especially here in Cali. I'm planning to be cremated when I go. I don't want to be part of a tree in the future lol. What about you?

Sounds good, don't think I could risk cremation-Ive got that fear of waking up during the service without my vocal chords etc and the heat starting to burn my toes!

Lol, coming from the heart of the hippies, a "green burial" is normal. Giving back to Mother Earth and all, sorry it slips through a bit!! I prefer gems made out of ashes but I'm a little more warped than most.

Why not? Is it still considered a 'natural' stone? No, it's man made but carbon based. I suppose that's for another topic.

My last wish is that I be buried under a tree just to the left of my soccer field at Verranzano sports complex. So even though I am dead I won't miss any of my soccer games.

My wife is pissed off because shr thought we would both be buried in a plot we have also in Brooklyn.

I told her just think of it as separate vacations.

When my daughter first got married she had a pet rabbit chewy.

Rabbits live for like 10 minutes give or take. He died her husband was working he is the fucking cop.

Any way she calls me I come over I tell her I will bury the rabbit under that three at my soccer field.

I take him drive away and put him in some garbage can a about a mile from her house.

My mother gave my kids a bunny for Easter one year. I gave it to some lady with a 'farm'. I don't really care where it went as long as it was out of my house with that stank ass smelling cage. I told the kids the rabbit would have a better life. It's the same lie when I told them McDonald's was closed on Tuesday afternoons for cleanings or some crap.

Rabbits kick off some times because if you let them out of the cages they like to chew on electric wires and juice themselves. smile

I bought a dog when I first got married a cute little beagle that my wife picked out.

No matter how many times you walked him that dog always save something for the house.

Wife kept complaining about him so one day took him to the dog pound made a donation and told the guy to gas the fuck.

That was the last time I ever had a pet.

Except for my gold fish I named jimmy the fish as a kid.

One day he was floating on his back in the water. I said Ma something is wrong with Jimmy. She said bang on uncle joes door. I did told unck something is wrong. He comes in see's Jimmy and takes him into the toilet. He comes out without jimmy. I said where!s jimmy. He tells me jimmy's dead and I buried him at sea.

True story that happened 70 yrs ago when I was 5.
