GOAL: Predict which notable* figures will die on/between January 1 and December 31, 2015, Eastern Time.
Produce a maximum of 50 names, to be PM'ed to me (NOT posted here) before the ball drops in Times Square (NYC) at midnight on New Years (i.e., 12AM ET, January 1, 2015). The BB's default timestamp will determine entry time.
*It's assumed that all notable figures will have an entry, or be mentioned in an entry, at Google, Wikipedia or another legit source which you may have to prove.
Rules:
1) PLEASE alphabetize your list of 50 names by LAST name (regardless of profession), either in the form of FIRSTNAME LASTNAME -or- LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, in *1* column of names.
2) If it's not obvious who the person is for most people, after the name please add why they're notable. For example: "Douglas Fraser, trade unionist" (Sorry, he's already dead). In addition, you may or may not choose to include the person's current age; for example: "Douglas Fraser, trade unionist (91)"
3) If you submit your list days before Midnight, January 1st, 2015, and someone on your list dies before 2015, you should substitute the person with another and resubmit your list (by the deadline). If you do not resubmit your list, and the person died in 2014, the person will obviously NOT count for 2015.
4) a) Thou Shalt Not Kill (anyone on your list); b) criminals subject to the Death Penalty or anyone kidnapped or held hostage in 2014 won't count -- unless they die of natural causes; c) "Dead" means permanently dead, not later revived, nor put in animated suspension, or any induced or natural coma starting before 2015 begins; d) do not edit Wikipedia with false death information.
Everyone's lists will be updated unofficially throughout the year, but a year-end audit should be performed to determine the final winner sometime shortly after December 31, 2015. YOU are responsible for your own audit at years' end.

FiOS is back up -- after 14+ hours. Apparently some "tree rats" (squirrels) chewed up the wires on the pole. Will be back after church to post the lists!
I was looking through the past years' lists and thought it notable that everyone had picked Kirk Douglas for their list when we started this game eight years ago. Now, eight years later, everyone still has picked him for their list.

We used to have trouble with squirrels chewing on copper wires. It was usually mice chewing on Fiber and they only liked the ones with light going through them, not the dead ones.
Former NY governor, Mario Cuomo is the first to die on this year's watch. He was 82 and had been hospitalized last November just as his son and current governor, Andrew, was re-elected. Today, his son was re-inaugurated.
Cuomo was one of the best orators I've ever heard.
Only one of us had picked Cuomo on a list.... Signor Vitelli. Who invited this pissant to play??

Be careful what you wish for.
Actually, I realized too late that besides Zsa Zsa, there was one other person I had wanted to put on my list, but forgot: French actress Michèle Morgan (age 94).
Had Cuomo been sick? I was surprised/sorry to hear of his passing.
Since November I believe. I don't remember if there was any reports or anything since being admitted.
TIS, His son Andrew had been re-elected to office in November and Mario celebrated with his family at the campaign headquarters when the election was won by his son. I believe it was the day following the election that Mario was admitted to the hospital with heart related issues. He had been released from the hospital for awhile but had to be readmitted in December. Here's a picture of him with his son, Andrew, following the election. You can see he looks somewhat frail.

I remember a long time ago when Little Jimmy Dickens had a number one Country hit with the novelty song May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose - which also made it to the Pop charts.
It looks like Mig was the only one to pick him for her list - her first "kill" of 2015!

Same here SV. The name rang a bell but I couldn't think of any song I knew by him. Since he's in the C&W field, and I'm not into C&W, no surprise didn't click. However, I DO remember "May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose."
Ellie May Clampett died Donna Douglas can you believe she was 81?
Ellie May, Laura Petrie and Marlo Thomas on "That Girl" were the first adult women that I had impure thoughts about as a kid in the sixties. True story .
Just read that ESPN and SportsCenter personality Stuart Scott has passed away at the age of 49. I know he's been sick with cancer for quite some time, but this one is a shocker.

Tragic. He was one of the good guys in broadcasting. He'll be missed. And it brought Jimmy Valvano right to mind for some reason. The Valvano speech still chokes me up when I see it.

Yea, that's sad. It's amazing she's hanging on for so long, considering health issues. BUT, for your child (no matter how old) to go before you is just sad.

He is 71 years old (a couple years older than Zsa Zsa's daughter).
Cowboys great Jethro Pugh died at the age of 70. He was one of the foundation stones of the Cowboys powerful teams of 6he late 60s and the 70s.
I certainly enjoyed my Steelers victories over the Cowboys in their 2 SB matchups back then, but I had the greatest respect for Coach Tom Landry and the Cowboys generally.
I had no idea he was still around, for some reason I thought he passed away some time ago. He was also in Giant (wonder how many who were in that are still alive now) and Inglourious Basterds (his last film).

Met him for a half a second at the Mayflower hotel after he made Easy money. He was with Joe Pesce talking to this older lady in the lobby.
It turns out Negron is a big big movie buff and recognized this older lady as an old time actress Syvia Sydney. Sydney was an interesting women she was in a favorite old movie of mine Blood on the Sun with James Cagney. After she left he told us she had an affair with one of tge biggest movie producers in Hollywood it was a big scandle at the time. She was also in the movie beatle juice.
He was like a movie historian.
That was when i was pretty friendly with Pesce. I asked him if he could get me in the movie Easy Money. He did not do it I just wanted to say I was in a movie.
I can't believe De Niro or Yogi hasn't posted this yet but Anne Kirkbride, who played Deirdre in Coronation Street, passed away aged 60 after a brief illness.
Legendary radio and television talk-show host Joe Franklin died Saturday at age 88.

He reminds me of my mother. She loved Memory Lane. But I hadn't heard his name mentioned in YEARS. The last time I saw him was when they dusted him off to play himself in "29th Street." And that's almost 25 years ago.
Years ago we used to get WOR out here on a cable package and I loved to watch this guy. Then I saw Billy Crystal's imitation of him on SNL and it was hilarious. They don't make them like this anymore. RIP, Joe. He kind of reminded me of Chicago's Irving Kupcinet.
I'm surprised to hear that he was only 88. I used to see him on tv when I was a kid and I thought he was ancient then. Boring and all. As I got older I found myself watching his stuff on tv... this guy was a treasure of information on show biz, especially the old-time stuff.

I remember him!!! Poet or singer? Blond hair? I just can't remember what he sang/wrote. Ha ha
TIS
His most well known song he wrote would be Terry Jacks's "Seasons in the Sun", great song RIP.
Oh yea, I love "Seasons In The Sun." I also checked and he's credited with "If You Go Away". Not sure if he wrote it or sang it, but I do love the song. (I think I remember him singing it)
Music to cut your throat by. But I love that song, too .

God, you know how much I love Sinatra, Tis. But I remember Frank covering an entire album of McKuen songs during his "hip" phase. I cringe when I see those videos now. Sinatra with a flower in his Beatles Bangs wig just wasn't a natural fit .

Yes, I have memory of a Sinatra pic during his Mia Farrow stage, wearing love beads as well. Ha ha ha!
McKuen wrote the song "Jean," that I think Donovan had a hit of. He did "Love's Been Good to Me," that Sinatra and Cash and others recorded, and Frank's "A Man Alone."

Oh you mean the song Jean ("Jean Jean Roses are Red...?") That I believe was sung by Oliver. It was from the movie, "The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie." Yea, I like that song too. I didn't realize just how many good songs he wrote.
Rod McKuen did not write the original versions of "If You Go Away" ("Ne Me Quitte Pas") and "Seasons in the Sun" ("Le Moribond"). They were written by Jacques Brel. McKuen wrote English-language adaptations that still have many purists cringing.
However, McKuen did write something many years ago that made a permanent, lasting impression on me: the book Finding My Father: One Man's Search For Identity. It was his first work of non-fiction, and came out in the 1970's.
Actress Lizabeth Scott passed away on January 31st, she was 92. Best remembered being in a lot of film noir like Dead Reckoning, Pitfall, and Too Late for Tears. She also was in Scared Stiff, and Loving You (along side Elvis). RIP
This is premature, but Whitney Houston's daughter was found unresponsive in a hotel.
Jesus, in a bathtub, too. Just like her Mother. I hope she pulls through.
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. I sure hope she's ok.

Looks like they're getting ready to pull the plug. So sad, and the circumstances are so eerie (the bathtub and all).
From Fox News:
Georgia police have opened a criminal investigation into the events that led to Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina lying unconscious and facedown in a bathtub after apparently suffering an overdose, a report said Friday.
The probe will focus on Bobbi’s boyfriend Nick Gordon – with whom Bobbi has a history of domestic violence, law-enforcement sources told TMZ. Bobbi had injuries that raised suspicion, and investigators are looking into a possible altercation that took place over an hour before the aspiring singer was found in the bathtub in her home in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell, Ga., the web site said.
Yea Oli, I heard that. What was fishy is, both said they were married and yet her father says not and there is no record of a marriage. They found bruises on her body that they think happened that night possibly by her boyfriend.
I think they said that Whitney Houston died on Feb. 11, 2012. How sad this whole thing is, but to be so close to the day her mother died is really sad.
(CNN)After an illustrious golf career that spanned more than four decades, one of the sport's legends has died.
Billy Casper, a pioneer of professional golf, died at the age of 83, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. The PGA posted news of Casper's death as well, describing him as "one of the most prolific PGA TOUR winners in history and long considered among the sport's finest putters." His resume included three major titles and 51 PGA Tour events -- putting him seventh on the U.S circuit's all-time list.

I just saw that Oli and was gonna post. I'm sorry to hear it. I wasn't even in high school yet but "It's My Party" was a huge hit, along with "You Don't Own Me" and others. I didn't know she had been sick. Sorry to hear it.
I know this topic is generally for celebrities, but I'd like us to remember the 21 Coptic Christians who were beheaded by ISIS this past weekend. It's too bad we don't know their names. They deserve to be remembered.
Funny Obama does not mention things like this does he. He acts like he is not even a Christian I wonder why? Also I never hear all those good Muslims he likes to talk about denouncing this shit I wonder why?
Actress Maria "Movita" Casteneda died February 12, age 98. Also known as Movita, she appeared in the original 1935 version of Mutiny on the Bounty, as well as a number of other films. She also appeared in several episodes of Knott's Landing on television. Additionaly, she was the second wife of actor Marlon Brando, with whom she had two children.

Wow! I had no idea anybody from the original was still alive. RIP
Also, was her children the ones that would end up having tragic lives?

I don't think so. Her son Miko was an assistant to Michael Jackson for several years, and I don't remember hearing anything negative about her daughter Rebecca. The Brando children you're probably thinking of are Christian and Cheyenne. They were half-siblings, I believe; same father (Marlon Brando), different mothers.

Yup, those were the two I was thinking off. Thanks
When I was a little boy my mother took me to some film he was in and he made an appearance at the theater (they did that in the 1960s) and we got his autograph. That's long gone, but Leonard Nimoy is someone I'll never forget. He had a decent career whether on "Star Trek," "Mission Impossible," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," or the series "In Search Of." He was always likeable and he will be missed.
Was sadly expecting this since he made public last February that he had COPD. If I remember right he said that he used to be a smoker up till 30 years ago when he quit. RIP to a great talent and human being.
I read an article yesterday that included a tweet by Nimoy (and I'm not sure how long ago) saying, "If you stop smoking AFTER you've been diagnosed with lung disease, it's too late." I'm assuming then he's had this disease for quite a while.
Rest in eternal peace to former New York Knick, Anthony Mason
48 years old
As a Bulls fan I was never a Mason fan, but I always admired his effort. He may not have been the most talented player on the court, but no one played harder or made his teammates better than him. RIP Anthony Mason.
Minnie Minoso, 7 time allstar outfielder with the Indians and White Sox, has died at 90. Besides being among the pioneering generation of black and Latin stars in the majors, Minoso was an all around player who could beat you with his glove, bat, or legs.

And like that, more than twenty years have just disappeared. He wasn't the most talented Knick. As a matter of fact, Mase's biggest problem was that he thought he was better than he was. But man, was he a) tough, and b) blue collar.
It still breaks my heart that Ewing never got his ring. But Mase and Starks were the heart and soul of that early '90s team.
RIP, Anthony. Way too young. And I mean WAY too young .

Ernie Banks and Minnie Minoso, only about a month apart. Sad year for Chicago baseball so far.

British author Sir Terry Pratchett has died at age 66.
Probably one of the most unique fantasy authors ever (IMO), he wrote more than 70 novels, including the popular Discworld series. Diagnosed several years ago with early-onset Alzheimer's disease, he continued to write as well as becoming an advocate for assisted suicide.
Don't know about the other guys but was a longtime fan of Mike Porcaro of Toto. The entire band consisted of gifted and top notch professional musicians. He had ALS which totally destroyed him. Hope that he's in a much better place now. He will be greatly missed.
Oh no really? Sorry to hear it. I remember Beatles first American appearance on Ed Sullivan show, showing close-up of John with caption, "Sorry girls he's married."

So do I. Hard to believe that was 51 years ago.
Actor Robert Z'Dar has died at age 64, while in Pensacola, Florida for an appearance at a convention. He starred in the "Maniac Cop" films, appeared in "Mobsters", "Tango and Cash" and many other films.
The great Stan Freberg died today at age 88. A famous humorist, satirist, voice artist (he was the voice of Marvin the Martian in the old Warner Bros. cartoons) and comedian, he will truly be missed.
Actress Jayne Meadows died April 26 at age 95. She was the widow of TV pioneer Steve Allen, and her younger sister Audrey was the original Alice Kramden on "The Honeymooners."
^^^^ I don't play in the Dead Pool, although I do read it regularly because it's very informative. Especially when the more obscure older actors and actresses who pass away and go largely unwritten about in the mainstream media (but Signor Vitelli never misses one!).
Anyway, as far as SC updating the charts, I think he may just have his hands full with the trolls and other crap on the board right now. He'll catch up .
Didn't know (or didn't remember) he started out with the drifters. "Stand By Me" (oops, NOT When A Man Loves A Woman) one of the most beautiful love songs ever.
RIP Ben E. King.

(LOL at myself. Having a problem getting it together today)
A lot of great talents could go in the next decade.
Brian Wilson, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Tom Waits, Stephen King, Joe Pesci, Martin Scorsese, Robbie Robertson off the top of my head are all over 65 and most of them have had various drug/alcohol/health issues.
I was gonna say Bruce Springsteen too but that guy looks like he could keep playing music into his 80's.

Larry David, Michael Richards, Glenn Frey, Don Henley.........
Although L.D. doesn't really eat any junk food and seems meticulous about his health and fitness so he could probably stay sharp for another 10-15 years.
When I read that B.B. King was receiving "hospice care", I figured it was pretty much just a matter of time. That's how these things usually are. Very sad - he was indeed a true legend.
Okay, sorry, I think we're caught up, please check!
RIP BB!
Not quite caught up: I predicted Anita Ekberg, and you have to cross Bess Myerson off my list because she actually died last year (though her death wasn't announced until this year).
An outfielder with San Diego and Philadephia, Ollie Brown had a fine arm and was a pretty good hitter. He's mostly remembered, though, for his classic baseball nickname, "Downtown Ollie Brown."
Wow, 61 years married. And a showbiz couple, to boot. That's really incredible because those marriages (Hollywood types) rarely last that long.
Years ago, you could flush your career down the toilet by cheating on your wife in Hollywood (think Eddie Fisher). Today, you grow your brand (think Brad and Angelina). Times change.
Not positive on if I should post it here, but figured it was relevant to a recent death this month. B.B King's family (both daughters) has made comments that the late musician was poisoned. They also said that the family were not allowed to see B.B King in his final days. This is really surprising to hear..
Female impersonator Jim Bailey, who gained fame for his impressions of Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, Mae West, Peggy Lee, Tallulah Bankhead and many others, died May 30 at age 77.
Also, famed folksinger Jean Ritchie, known as "The Mother of Folk", died June 1 at the age of 92.
Recently Bugliosi has been putting out books attacking Christianity in particular and God in general, as well as trying to debunk JFK conspiracy theories.
I remember reading Bugliosi's book on Manson back in the early 70s. Only it wasn't called Helter Skelter, it was called "The Family."
TIS
I have the book, but haven't read it yet due to school and life. I had no idea that it was called 'The Family' first. Then again, it does make sense with it being the title of a Beatles song.

Bam,
I might be wrong. I Did read "The Family" and that's how I first knew about Bugliosi. Now, I'm not sure if we are talking about the same book. Could have been another author.
Bugliosi gave key insights into The Manson Family in that book, which are still used in documentaries. I seemed to recall that in one interview that he said he was hoping to see Charles Manson die in prison.

After looking it up, there is a book called 'The Family' written by Ed Sanders (published in 1971, three years before Bugliosi's Helter Skelter). I thought that you meant Bugliosi's book went under a title change, and couldn't use 'Helter Skelter' due to legal reasons or something. I hope that clears that up .
Recently Bugliosi has been putting out books attacking Christianity in particular and God in general, as well as trying to debunk JFK conspiracy theories.
that's what made me lose respect for bugliosi, glad someone posted these books he had written.
I never got into the entertainment version of wrastling. I remember studio wrestling with stars such as Bruno Sammartino (from Pittsburgh), Baba the Giant, Crusher Lisowski,Fritz Von Erick, Johnny Valentine, The Mongol, and many more. All fake for sure, and it was entertainment, but not as fake and not as much entertainment as today's stuff.

I'm just as big a fan of the old school "'rasslin'" as I am of the sports entertainment variant. The quality has definitely gone down over the years, but pro wrestling still has that magical quality for me. Sure, the match outcomes are predetermined, but that's neither here nor there. I watch it for the art. Any asshole can punch someone in the face. It takes a true pro to look like he's beating the crap out of someone when in fact he is doing all he can to protect his opponent. And believe me, when it's great, it's the greatest entertainment out there.
Dusty Rhodes was one of the all-time greats. His Texas bull rope match with "Superstar" Billy Graham is one of the greatest wrestling matches of all time.
I watch a lot of wrestling decades ago. People used to think that shit was real. Anyone ever get you in a hammer lock. I want to see you shake it off and be okay again
The only wrestler I ever met was Captain Lou at an orange Julious stand.
Remember Captain Lou best hold? That was fingers in the eyes. I used that hold myself many times.
I grew up in the tail end of the 3 networks era...so we all watched the same tv shows and felt a connection to the stars of those shows. It's always sad to read when one of them passes.
Quick Jack Carter story. He was originally cast as Arthur Spooner in "The King of Queens" as Carrie's crazy father. They shot the pilot and everything. Then Jerry Seinfeld abruptly pulled the plug on his show, which was still in the top five at the time, if not number one, and Jerry Stiller suddenly became available.
They hired Stiller the second he became available and gave Carter his walking papers. They had to re-shoot the pilot over the summer of '98 to have it ready by September (most pilots are shot in March and April). True Hollywood story.
He was recently in a Showtime series called Shameless. He was perfect in the role of a cranky, dirty old foul mouthed guy who lived in an apartment above the bar he owned that the main characters would frequent.
Here is the reading of his will when his character passed away...
Michael Douglas has some incredible longevity genes on BOTH sides of his family. His Mom was 92, Kirk is almost 99.
An actuary would have to make the over/under on his lifespan at least 90. But then again, there's that old saying: Make plans, and God laughs. So who really knows?
As a lifelong Steeler fan, this is a blow to the gut. The Steelers and Raiders knocked each other out of the playoffs 5 straight years in the mid-70's, and I think it's safe to say that each team left a lasting mark on the other.
Mustach - As a Bay Area native and life long Raider fan I know exactly what you mean. Steelers games were always some of the best and unlike many of the opponents we've hosted they brought along some decent fans - shit talkers, beer drinkers with love and knowledge of the game. Plus the females were always attractive and friendly!
The Snake was a tough pick to put on the list but seeing as how nobody else had him I'll chalk my inclusion as a tribute to a great athlete.
Legendary folksinger/actor/activist Theodore Bikel died today of natural causes at age 91.
His was a voice I had listened to from my earliest days. Way back in the 1950's, my mother bought a number of his albums. Bikel sang in Yiddish, Russian, French, Greek, English and heaven-only-knows what other languages! He was amazing, and I still can remember my mother doing her best to translate the songs for me.
I had always hoped that one day I would be able to meet him, if for no other reason than simply to say "Thank you" for all he gave us.
Retired British actress Nova Pilbeam died July 17 at age 95. In the 1930's, she starred in The Man Who Knew Too Much and Young and Innocent (both directed by Alfred Hitchcock) as well as Tudor Rose, an excellent film in which she played Lady Jane Grey.
This one just slays me. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper is one of, if not THE, greatest talkers in the history of professional wrestling. His "Piper's Pit" segment produced some of the most entertaining and legendary moments the wrestling business has ever seen. He is also, for my money, the greatest professional wrestler to have never won the big one. He is also the greatest heel (bad guy) in pro wrestling history.
Don't believe me?
Roddy Piper had the ability to get a crowd so riled up, WWE management would have to take him off the road for months at a time to let things cool down. I have provided some videos from Piper's WWE Hall of Fame induction. Pay particular attention to "Nature Boy" Ric Flair's stories on the Hot Rod.
Also, British singer, Cilla Black passed away. I mostly remember "You Are My World", which is one of my favorites from that era. Didn't know she was from Liverpool.
For some reason, Cilla Black was never as big in the US as she was in the UK. Strange... She had quite a career, and was certainly (IMO) the equal of any of her contemporaries.
I remember - I think it was back in the '70s - that Helen Reddy also recorded "You're My World" (which, incidentally, was originally an Italian song). Very close to Cilla Black's version, as I recall.
Cilla was a icon here in England and yes she was from Liverpool and toured and played with The Beatles in the early days..Had a successful TV career in the 80's and 90's
One of the news outlets reported that "the husband of Kathy Lee Gifford died," as if that was all he was. Later after a bunch of people complained on Twitter he updated the report to say "Gifford was a Giants legend, NFL Hall of Famer, & sports broadcaster. Married to Kathie Lee for nearly 30 years. He was 84."
Ever meet Howard Cosell? I have look him up on YouTube. You never see him with both hands exposed. I forget how he died but he definately had the shakes in one arm.

Howard Cosell died April 23, 1995 from a cardiac embolism (a blood clot in his heart). In later life he battled cancer and, among other things, Parkinson's Disease.
But, as far as never seeing him with both hands exposed...
1960's civil rights movement leader and former chairman of the NAACP Julian Bond died August 15 at age 75.
He was a good speaker, but he was very partisan and a very hateful person to those with whom he disagreed, often accusing the GOP of the atrocities that the Democrats did in a previous generation.
You didn't say exactly when you met him, but it's entirely possible that by then the Parkinson's symptoms were already starting to show. He may have concealed the hand that had obvious trembling, but this would not have shown in still photographs.
I do remember her as Bat Girl but never really watched the show. She's more familiar to me from the few Elvis movies she was in. Sorry to hear of her passing.
Well-known because she lied about her age and became the romantic lead in a sitcom when she had barely turned 16. She reminds me a lot of Donna Douglas of the Beverly Hillbillies - the black and white TV camera just loved them.
A VERY familiar name from way back. Sorry to hear of his passing. I saw Elm St., Scream AND the first Last House On the Left (1972)which I remember as very creepy. I never saw the remake.
For his live action films, Walt Disney always wanted actors who were on their way up or down - he thought that Disney made it's own star power. Nonetheless, Dean Jones carved out a long career in Disney films, including the Love Bug films. Jones's "The Shaggy D.A." is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies - I'll stop and watch it every time I come across it:
Martin Milner (83) of Route 66 & Adam 12 fame. I didn't watch Adam 12 much but loved Route 66. My sister and I always thought George Maharis was the cuter one, but liked them both. I KNEW that had real 60 style names in the show, and just looked it up. Buz & Tod. LOL
Also, Judy Carne from Laugh-in fame. The "sock it to me girl" was 76.
Former child actor Dickie Moore died September 7 at age 89. He gave Shirley Temple her first screen kiss, and was the husband (since 1988) of actress Jane Powell.
Jack Larson, best known to those of us of a certain age for playing Jimmy Olsen in the 1950's TV series "The Adventures of Superman", has died at age 87.
Most famous as the catcher of the Yankees in the late '40s through the mid '60s he was also involved with management of the Yanks and Mets. He was popular as a fan favorite for his malaprops.
R.I.P. #8
Edit: Note to scorekeeper - I should get credit for three more kills. Berra, above plus businessman Irving Kahn who died in February and Ruth Newman, SF earthquake survivor who died three weeks ago.
I think we're due for a general list update from our scorekeeper. Besides SC, I see several people picked Yogi Berra (though I was not one of them, strangely enough).
I'm up to ten kills, with Theodore Bikel, Nova Pilbeam and Dickie Moore to add to the update.
Still, there are more than three months left this year, and as Yogi once said, "It ain't over till it's over!"
Surprised nobody mentioned this (perhaps nobody dared):
Adult film actress/producer Candida Royalle died September 7 after a battle with ovarian cancer. She was 64.
Interestingly enough, she graduated from my old high school - the High School of Art & Design in NYC, though I didn't know her (in any sense of the word) because she was a couple of years older than me.
Oh yea, he was in a lot of Disney movies. I loved Old Yeller. When I was a kid there was a movie theater walking distance from my house. They'd play movies a couple years after their release. I think went to see Old Yeller every time it played. So sad for poor Yeller.
"Here Yeller, Come back Yeller, The best dog gone dog in the West."
So sorry to hear of his passing. I read in another article it was cancer.

Also with Ronald Reagan in "This Is the Army." She wrapped up all those roles by the time she was 18.
R.I.P. Maureen O'hara. The beautiful star of "The Quiet Man" (with John Wayne) died today at age 95. Oddly, I just watched "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" last night when it aired on tv and even though I've seen that movie a dozen or more times I couldn't help but think she was a real hottie.
RIP to Maureen O'Hara. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without "Miracle on 34th Street."
She came out of retirement in 1991 to play John Candy's mildly bigoted yet lovable Mother in "Only the Lonely." That's a sleeper comedy that I highly recommend.
She was magnificent; worth seeing in whatever she did. The Quiet Man was always one of my favorites, and certainly Miracle on 34th Street (to name only two).
A couple of years back, TCM's Robert Osborne interviewed her. Alas, I wish it could have gone on much longer, but even past 90, she was still full of "piss and vinegar" as the saying goes. A great interview:

I read only that she died in her sleep. Was she ill? I know she was 95 but if she went peacefully in her sleep??? If you gotta go, that's the way to do it.
I forgot about The Parent Trap, which I saw hundreds of times when I was a kid. I believe Brian Keith was her husband in the film. Oh, and Haley Mills (Let's Get Together).
I loved her in The Parent Trap and John Wayne movies. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are McClintock and Big Jake. I know there are more.

Rio Grande.
She was also with Henry Fonda in Spencer's Mountain, which is based on the same Earle Hamner writings as The Waltons (for the movie they moved the mountain to Wyoming). And she was in How Green Was My Valley.
OK, the list is updated, to the best of my knowledge, through yesterday, October 24th.
The dead entries that I've noted are in bold and italicized (as opposed to Geoff's which are in green)
Note to all participants - you must check all your own entries to make sure that you've been credited for all your dead picks. If you see that you weren't credited with a dead pick report it here in this thread.
As I see it, right now, Sr Vitelli is leading with 10.
SV, how do you know all these people? I must say I don't know many of them. You are well rounded on your knowledge of people who, shall we say, are possible bucket kickers.
OK, it's that time of year when the chill is in the air. The nights are getting longer and colder. The landscape is barren and soon the snow will fall. It all means that Dead Pool Day is getting close again. Bwaahahhhaaahhhaaaa......
Two months to go before the new year and a new game. It appears we have a core group of players and I assume most will wanna try their luck again next year. We'll probably be seeing many of the same predictions on our lists, so, in an attempt to make it a little more challenging I propose some sort of rule change.
How would it be if we gave "points" that reflected the age of the decedent? We could all load our lists with people oevr the age of 90 but what fun is that? What if we gave more "points" for younger deaths? For instance, a decedent over the age of 100 would be worth one point, someone in their 90s could be worth two, someone in their 80s worth three, and so on. Thus, we'd be scored on the number of our picks (as we presently do) AND on the number of age-related points.

Just something to think about. What say ye?
I like the idea - otherwise you could load up on the world's oldest people and probably do OK.

Actually, I did notice that but held my tongue because:
Why do I think you were holding more than your tongue?
And she couldn't have been THAT old. SC has me by eight years, and I believe that Signor V was born some time in between us. Anyway, I remember drooling over her as a kid myself.
Well, at 56 years old, I don't see the attraction to fake boobs myself. But who knew from fake boobs as a pubescent horn dog back then?
Anyway, she was just what I figured. 78 isn't THAT old anymore. Although I know you suffered a horrible loss at a much younger age. My Mom cashed her first Social Security check and was dead six months later. She's gone almost 15 years now. But I STILL feel cheated. Sorry for hijacking the thread a bit. My Dad just turned 86. He's struggling but still going. So I'm a bit obsessed with mortality lately.
Anyway, Doda looks beat to shit in that photo. So in that respect, I agree with you .

Fans of The Wire will recognize Melvin Williams who played The Deacon, died yesterday aged 73.. He was a reformed drug dealer turned actor and was also the inspiration for Avon Barksdale..
Robert Loggia also played Frank Lopez in Scarface, i never cared much for his Feech Lamanna character in The Sopranos but a good actor nevertheless. RIP..
THANK YOU, SC!! I was just about to embark on the daunting task of catching up on the main list/standings, but SC has it up-to-date. Whew! I just fixed the formatting to make it consistent.
As the usual end-of-year reminder, please check to be sure you've gotten credit for everyone on your list before Jan 1st! A quick way to do that is to just copy/paste each name you're unsure of into google or wiki.
Hopefully I'll have more than 5 this year, but damn, probably no way to catch up to SV, SC, and DE NIRO!
-- Audit your 2015 lists to be sure all names have been credited, and post HERE if I missed any
-- Remove those names from your 2016 list and replace them with new names if you want to continue playing, and PM those lists to me by midnight Dec 31/Jan 1 Eastern (NYC) Time
(I got TIS's list, but that's all so far -- TIS, make sure no one on your new list passes before Friday )
It was either late 80s,or early 90s that The Harlem Globetrotters performed at the school where I worked. I am not a fan of any sport, BUT everyone knows the Harlem Globetrotters/Meadowlark Lemon right? They sure were very entertaining and fun to watch.

RIP Meadowlark Lemon.
TIS
I saw them several times when I was younger. Fantastic entertainers and good clean fun. He'll be missed.
....Once I get credit for Lemmy (it was difficult to add him to the list)....
How dare you!
Okay, I should be all caught up. I have lists from all returning players besides XDCX and Don Marco who will have shorter lists if I don't hear from them in the next few hours. No new players, huh?
Any other year my 11 picks would have got me first place,
Au contraire, my misguided one. While eleven is a good score, there have been some years that it wasn't enough to win.
Well, as Yogi Berra used to say, "It ain't over till it's over." There have been times when a death at the end of the old year isn't actually made public until a few days into the new one. So, theoretically, the final scores could still change.

Beginner's luck, you think? Time will tell... Have to admit that the deaths of Natalie Cole and Wayne Rogers took me by surprise.
Signor V, I was thinking that you could do us all a favor and put a few known terrorists on your list. You seem to be pretty good at this oh Prince of Darkness. We could rid the world of these evil ppl. Thnx in advance.
