How many of you guys/gals ARE NOT from NY or NJ?

I have noticed on here a lot of people are from NY and NJ and have known, seen, or heard first hand accounts of LCN and other Mob related topics. Makes me quite jealous lol


I'm from Central IL and any kind of mob around here has always been pretty non existent. Although, the town I am from was supposedly built on...well really flourished on crime (Prohibition back in the day) and was supposedly one of the bigger Speak-Easy towns in IL. Supposedly, I Don personally believe it, Al Capone fame through a ime or two. And about 20 minutes away from where I actually live is a very small town where Dean O'Banion was actually born. Supposedly the town is/was a cool off spot for some of The Outfit members and gangsters from St. Louis. But Idk, thiz town will say anything tp get tourists and sound interesting.

Anyway, get really off topic lol, how many of you guys are not from NY or NJ?

I have lived in Fullerton, California for the past 6 1/2 years.

I was born in New Rochelle but moved to south Florida at the age of 7.

Around 8 years ago my wife, kids and I tried moving to NC as our area in Hollywood Fl was changing for the worst.

Its so cheap to live there we bought a house for cash. A nice 5 bed 2 story job not far from Lake Norman.

Money wise I just couldn't believe how cheap it was to live in NC. When I got my car insurance quote I said thats just for me for six months right? The lady no "honey child" thats for you AND your wife for six months.

But in the end I could only last 11 months there. First off they HATE Floridians there . They call us "Flor-idiots" and even worse...they hate Floridians who were born in NY (I guess you could say that my family passed a little of the accent on to me, and the area I grew up in in FL was 85% New Yorkers anyway)

In NC you could not get good bread and if you did find "decent" bread it was 4 bucks a loaf. AS far a pizza goes.... you're better of with Di Giorno frozen pizza. And Sausage....FORGET IT, they are cluless unless you're asking for "Jimmy Deans".

The other thing that I really came to understand is that you can't live in one place all your live and just up and move in your 40's. Its hard to make friends at that age, you miss your "real" friends, the ones you've know for 30 or more years.

About the only good I can say about NC was those shit kickers really know how to make "bald peanuts" (boiled peanuts) I love boiled peanuts.

I bought a lot of Ex-Lax in NC.......

I have an apartment in Berlin for well over 2 yrs now. I have yet been able to spend any major time there as yet. My place over looks the canal.

I have a grandson there. I thought I would be able to spend the summers there with him but because of a dumb health issue I have not as yet.

Can't find good Italian food their either. This is how I cope with that buy lasagna from Italian restraunt. Scrape off that stuff they call sauce.

Then I go to a Turkish restraunt and buy there thick tomato soup.


Pour that soup over the lasagna and presto changO you have a lasagna you can actually eat.

When I am there I live on that and big macs and their hot chocolate.

After 26 years move to Egg Harbor Twp, NJ (near Atlantic City). Worked in Manhattan on and off for 8 years. Consider myself a NYer. Yankee and Giants fan. Philly sucks.

I had the best of both worlds being born and raised for part of my life in Jersey then moving to southern California. When I wasn't in school then I was living with my grandparents in Jersey splitting my time in Cliffside and at our place down the shore near Asbury Park when Asbury was a NICE neighborhood. My Uncles were regulars at the track and AC so I'd be down there too. I would always make someone take me into the city (NYC) usually my godfather because I just loved it there. I hated to go back to CA since I always felt like Jersey was my HOME and still do.

(Being around my grandparents and the older aunts and uncles I learned to speak some Italian and how to cook and got to hear about all our family from Naples and of course the hoodlums in our neighborhood) That's probably why I love this site so much, I like hearing all these stories.
