U.S. companies Outsourcing to other countries.
U.S. companies with Manufacturing in other countries.
The internet.
Computers.
These primarily affect the middle class who consume and pay tax.

Come down to the Gulf Coat. With the oilfield now opening back up we have an abundance of jobs!

Same goes for the oil shale fields of the Dakotas.

I think one of the things that make it most difficult is that companies only receive resumes through the internet on sites like Monster and Career Builder. They are inundated with so many from all over, how can they possibly narrow it down as to who they will choose to interview? It's so impersonal.

I'm actually living proof that if you pound the pavement and get out there you will find a job. Your not going to find one sitting behind a computer all day.

Speaking of oil, I saw an Exxon ad on TV today that showed a pie graph indicating the sources of energy. The largest percentage was coal - 39%. Maybe they are hiring.

We still have millions of tonnes of coal under the UK. But Thatcher and her cronies shut all the pits and now we import our coal from places like China and Venezuela. Sound and practical business sense!!

Northcentral PA has had an explosion of employment with the marcellus shale boom. There are kids right out of high school grabbing jobs, which can bring in as much as $55,000 to start. The living in that region is good too.

As Turnbull said, the Dakotas are begging for workers. Many financial industries are located there as real estate and local taxes are cheap. A young friend took a phone loan servicing position, starting in the mid-30s, but he can rent a roomy apartment for $300/ month and the cost of living is low. They're begging people to move out there.

It's why you have to have a job where you cannot be replaced by a computer or a $4 an hour illegal.
