"Color Me Obsessed: A Film About The Replacements" - 04/17/11 05:15 AM
For J Geoff and other fans of Paul Westerberg and The Replacements, an interesting concept for a movie about a band...
Color Me Obsessed: A Film About The Replacements
Combining the band's mystique with the passion of their fans, Gorman Bechard made a music documentary with no music and not one single image of the band. "People believe in god without ever seeing or hearing him or her," the director says. "I'd like viewers to believe in the band that way." -- from IMDB.
I believe there was a screening in Chicago this weekend...significant because the band's last show, which featured their on-stage break-up, occurred here during a free, outdoor Fourth of July performance in Grant Park in the early 1990's.
I can't imagine this will get widespread distribution in movie theaters, but that also means it should be available on DVD or on-demand soon.
EDIT/UPDATE -- Here's the link to the official website of the movie with links to pre-order the DVD and details about future screenings.
