2. Go to Italy
3. Take the BBer's to Kentucky to go 4 wheelin
4. Have another BB weekend on MY turf.
5. See my other 2 kids married.

Years ago I probably would have quite a list but as I get older I find I don't have any large lofty goals. I am taking the time to smell te roses one might say. My wants, for the most part are not huge.

My list is short: (I'll add when/if I think of more).

1. I'd like to see my grandkids grow and marry and who knows, maybe live to be a greatgrandmother. (no hurry though) You know, all the important stuff

2. It's always been a wish to go to Italy (and Sicily to see my father's birthplace).


I was thinking lately of a train trip from coast to coast(or at least to Michigan). You know, stop over in several major cities at a leisurely pace, perhaps meeting up for lunch with a BBer here and there . I don't know though if it'd be too much train. I have no idea how something like that works or costs. It's been years since Ive been on a train.

TIS, I wanted to go to Florida by train. My husband refused to go. He did it once when he was a kid, because his mother developed a fear of flying. He said that it sounds like a terrific way to see the country, but the parts of the country that are near train tracks are not anything you would want to see.

Although I didn't like driving to Florida, I would like to try it when I have several weeks, maybe stopping in Washington, DC, Savannah, or other points south of where I live.

Yea, that's true. I was thinking more of staying overnight at least one night in various cities (maybe not even sleep on the train). But yea, hanging out by train stations wouldn't be too much fun (not to mention safe) I'm just tossing it around.

A few mention a desire to go to Italy. I went there about two months ago for just under a week, on the Tuscan/Umbrian border. You guys would love it. It rained for the first day and a bit, but it was lovely after that. Some pics, which never do justice:

My girlfriend. Me picking cherries - or doing anything resembling manual labour - is an occasion not to be missed.

I had a great time. We stayed in one of two newly built (or expanded) houses owned by friends of my girlfriend's parents, one of whom had an art exhibition in Florence at the time. Both houses are situated on a ridge, either side of which are two amazing valleys like the one in the second pic. It's not far into the neighbouring towns, but the drive is made longer because the roads are so winding, up and down up and down. The first pic is of Monterchi. The one with me and the umbrella is taken in Arezzo. The road behind me is an old Roman road that goes on for miles; absolutely amazing views when you turn the corner onto it from the top end; from the bottom it looks like there's a whole town emerging from the ground. Very impressive.

Literally: three bottles of beer. Haha.

Take my wife and kids to Italy so they will finally "get it".
