Facebook Group - 03/17/08 08:31 PM

Old BB member "Don Papa" asked me recently about a Facebook group for the BB and today I figured why not...

Facebook members should be able to join via this link:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8884679203

Not sure what it'll be used for, though... lol

How should I know... it's the first time I've used it myself.

I suppose once your account is created, you can join the group via the link above...

Re: Facebook Group - 03/17/08 08:54 PM

Will it be a group just for us members from here??

I didn't wanna give my real name... I signed up under Ess Cee.

Re: Facebook Group - 03/17/08 08:55 PM

Ess Cee -- what nationality is that?

I can't really stop others from joining via Facebook, but perhaps it'll bring new members here...

Re: Facebook Group - 03/17/08 08:56 PM

They really should have a "nickname" field for display...

I concur. Plus, we won't know which member is which from here with our real names

I'm Casey in the group.

I don't see anyone named Ess.

You can make your profile private to everyone but your friends, they'd see your name but how'd they know who it was?

Can't a 48 year old man be arrested for suspected pedophilia for having a Facebook account?

Re: Facebook Group - 03/17/08 10:51 PM

It's been open to everyone for a while now...

What is all the uproar over someone being a pedophile? I go to mine and he has done wonders for my feet.

Also, I never understood all the uproar either over Ellen being Lebanese. What gives?

And another thing...Why did Jesus find it necessary to cure leopards with all the diseases in his day?

Exactly. And why did they refer to Mary Magdalene as a prosthetic? Why make fun of a crippled person?

Re: Facebook Group - 03/19/08 03:54 PM

Facebook is infinitely better than MySpace, according to my tastes and needs. But then, it was originally set up for students, as a student networking site. It's branched out somewhat now, and there's an always-changing game of Cat and Mouse between MySpace and Facebook - each borrowing features from the other, to enhance user experience or whatever.

Long live Facebook!

Re: Facebook Group - 03/19/08 07:11 PM

There's a girl I wanna talk to on facebook, but, I feel kinda weird b/c I only have like ONE facebook friend -- most of my friends are in their late 20's-early 30's and really don't frequent the site. Thus you all have to add me as a friend so I don't feel like such a Norman Bates when I talk to her.

MySpace is an amazing marketing tool for musicians, thus ppl like Whisper value it very highly I suppose. But Facebook would be a better choice if we want some of the BB oldies to join up. \:p

Actually, truth be told, there isn't a girl. Mother doesn't like it when I talk online with girls.

Re: Facebook Group - 03/21/08 04:15 PM

I kind of dislike both myspace and facebook. Avidly.

I have a facebook that my sister made me when she was drunk, and I will check it out occasionally, I guess it's not as bad as myspace. Myspace is just a rotten hell of advertising and illiterate teenagers, and it's gotten much worse since Fox, another entity that I just full-out loath, bought it. I guess it's good if you're in a band; you can basically milk it for free PR. But otherwise, I never really got into the whole thing.

Well, that's all. I'm just pure negativity.

Lot of people put their music on myspace as a way to get it out and listened to.

Hey LLC don't front..your band rocks the myspace..it is a good outlet if you actually have shit that's released..promote that shit for free...why complain?

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I don't really like it, but I guess it's good promotion. That's all I was saying.

Re: Facebook Group - 04/24/09 06:48 PM

I still can't get the hang of Facebook. Somebody please help me out here.

Underneath a person's profile picture it says "Send So-and-so a Message". If I click on that and send a message, where does it go? Does it go on the "wall" for everyone to see or does it go to email? And how do I know if someone sent me a message back?
Posted By: J Geoff

Re: Facebook Group - 04/24/09 07:44 PM

Messages are private, and are sent to the recipient's inbox. When they reply it'll show a # next to your "Inbox" in the header showing you how many new msgs you have. They're like PMs here - and you can have 1 or more people per msg.

BTW, Blib, if you ever make a mistake and post something in the open that you don't want everyone to see you can always delete it. (Go to your Profile page and all your posts will show there... you have the option of deleting them there).

Thanks SC, I didn't know that.

I'm a complete idiot when it comes to Facebook. It seems like there are a million things to click on and I don't have the patience to sit there and memorize where everything is.

I've been able to get in touch with some friends I haven't heard from in over 10 years though, so I do love that part of it.

I don't go to FB very often. I still find it very confusing. I try to check in every now and then, but am more comfortable here.

Oh, and what's all this business about people in FB getting info stolen or whatever????? Know what I mean?
confused It was in the news about something. (I'm so informative aren't I?) lol

I didnt know about people stealing stuff from facebook, but it seems possible. I judiscovered it, and find it to be a great way to procrastinate. I am also finding that people going as far back as high school, who I wanted to ignore then, are contacting me, forcing me to ignore them all over again. In fact Facebook remind me of high school.

Re: Facebook Group - 04/28/09 03:35 PM

My daughter's account was hacked and bizarre messages got sent to all her friends, like "Come see this cool website with naked people!" sort of messages. Most of her friends ignored it, but she was a bit embarrassed when a message got sent to her boyfriend's mom!

Thanks for inviting me back here. I'm on facebook a lot now (too much) and this might be a nice diversion from time to time. There are some interesting people here that I did enjoy chatting with from time to time. And its so international that makes it kind of fun. I need to watch the Godfather Set again but I lost it when I moved. anyway, thanks for the email. Angie
