Funniest father on television ?

I'm watching a KING OF QUEENS rerun and laughing my ass off at Jerry Stiller as Carrie's father. It got me to thinking, who's the funniest tv dad ?

Am i allowed to say Homer simpson??

Redd Foxx of Sanford and Son may have been one of the funniest dads on television at the time.


But today, I would say it's between Ray's dad from Everybody Loves Raymond and Carrie's father in King Of Queens.

It was a small part but Jerry Stiller as Frank Costanza on SEINFELD, was a riot. SERENITY NOW !!

Let me preface by saying that I hate sitcoms... But I always end up getting sucked into them.

But Red Forman of That 70s Show makes me laugh myself into a hernia. His relation ship with his son Eric reminds me of my own relationship with my father. Funny shiz-it.

She was my favorite on that show. "You fish-eyed heathen." "Who you calling ugly, sucker?"

And who can forget Archie Bunker?

Edith Bunker: Yeah, and even then..."

Actually...Edith was as integral apart to that show as Archie. He wouldn't be nearly as endearing a character without that "dingbat."

Funniest TV father?

Hands down, it's Archie Bunker. In the next group I'll put Fred Sanford, George Jefferson, Rob Petry and Heathcliff Huxtable.

Gotta throw Al Bundy into the mix.

Back in the 80's I went to see Redd Foxx in Las Vegas. His show was a XXX rated show. Dirty as could be, but absolutely hilarious!

The insulting exchanges that took place between Fred and Aunt Esther were just hysterical.

I thought I'd revive this thread, because I've been watching KING OF QUEENS a lot more lately and I've decided that, for me, Arthur Spooner gets the nod as the craziest tv father ever.

Just now Carrie tells him, "Dad those are my birth control pills."

He responds, "What do you need birth control pills for, does he TOUCH YOU?!"

That he said this to his married daughter just made me almost pee my pants.

Thats so strange i watched that episode yesterday and almost pissed myself after he said that
