Double-J - 11/27/06 04:52 AM

Because a certain member seems bent on being unreasonable about this, I'm starting a thread. I apologize to those who didn't want me to start a thread. I really am.

Double-J was my friend since high school. We were both in Model United Nations together and that's how I really got to know the guy.

Recently, JJ was hospitalized. He logged on to the BB as a way to relax and have fun. I visited him a few times and he always had good things to say about everyone.

I miss my friend

I'm sorry I can't really talk about it right now, its so upsetting. I was just afraid people wouldn't take it seriously and mock it all out. It hurts really bad to lose a friend, especially so young. Its like having part of you torn down

MJ,

You've already opened the door. Please let us know if DJ is ok. You've implied the worse in all your remarks and it really isn't fair to let it drop now. I, for one (as I know the others here as well) am really concerned about the implications you've made regarding DJ. Can you just breifly lay it on the line please??

Mad Johnny,

While the BB has seen its share of ups and downs, debates, arguments, and out-and-out verbal brawls, nobody here wishes any harm to befall any member.

So, I hope you will please explain what this is all about.

If JJ were GOD FORBID, dead, then there woud be no reason to hold back that kind of news.

If he were GOD forbid fighting a disease or a sickness, then I coud understand holding something like that back.

But it does not make sense that someone would hold back news on the death of a member of these boards.

That is why I believe that this is all a hoax on Mad Johnny's part.

And for JJ sake, I hope that it is.

Agreed DC, but for MJ's sake, if it is a hoax it is not a good thing. He opened the door here, and if there is some illness that is best kept quiet, he can just say he is seriously ill and leave it there. Plaw's decline and death was only known by a very few members for a very long time, and he was positing right up until the end.

Double J, dead or alive, if you can somehow read this, I think you'll like to hear what Father Torque has to say about you:

Father Torque: Life... Was a game to him... And he played it... By his own rules. He was a mystery to most of us... And yet an inspiration to us all. He gave us FREEDOM. He gave us POWER. He gave us WINGS. He gave us WHEELS. Thank you, JJ Corley... For giving us a DREAM that will never die...

Re: Double-J - 11/27/06 06:52 PM

MJ,

How in the hell can you drop a bomb shell like this and not follow through like this? You are not the only friend DJ has. Me and DJ talk pretty regular off the BB. If this is just a hoax you are playing on us DJ's friends just because you are mad that the both of you got banned for a few days, then (Mod's if I get a vacation then so be it) you are cruel, sick bastard who deserves to be banned forever.

Doesn't this sound like our dear friend Paul? MJ, you could have come up with something other than that

Don't worry, Miggy... if that's the case, he is, and will be.

But until we know for sure what's going on, DJ will be in my prayers. In the meantime, I'm going to remove the "RIP" from his signature until I (God forbid!) see proof...

Re: Double-J - 11/27/06 07:14 PM

Man, there is no love in this thread either. What is the matter with people today? No one wanted the long weekend to end, is that what it is.

Why does everyone let MadJohnny pull their chain?

People are yelling at him and he hasn't been on to post all day. Look at the last post register for his name. Last post was early this morning.
Why is everyone beating themselves up to a frenzy? Because of what MadJohnny is rambling about?
Did SC or Geoff lift D-J's ban?
Maybe he isn't going to post anymore after what happened.

Let us just wait and see what this is all about before we get a rope and have ourselves a hanging.

Its pretty disconcerting when one member (especially being a personal friend of another member to whom he's referring) alludes to the fact that another member has died.

As for the timing of the replies - this is a message board; its not a chatroom. You post your thoughts when you have them, not when you think someone will be able to reply to them.

FWIW - Double-J's suspension was lifted in the wee hours of Friday morning... the same time as Mad Johnny's.

Yes, you are right. We post our thoughts when we can. It just seems like the posts are getting more and more irate as you go down the page, with MIGs getting darn right insulting to the thread starter.
It seems like people have gotten a whole lot more irrational these days. Why the hostility you just have to ask yourself?
Hell, we have Mr Sixer and a whole lot worst posters before.

I guess you have to consider the source of the post BEFORE you get upset at times.

Who's irate and upset?? Miggie said IF...

We're just curious as to what happened. I won't be irate unless this turns out to be a hoax, and then I'd go ballistic. But until then, I'm calm as a clam. And I wish D-J well.

But FWIW, when have you ever "showed the love" in your entire existence here?

Re: Double-J - 11/27/06 11:24 PM

While death is not such a funny thing, it would be funny if DJ proves to be dead. Not in that he's dead. In that 75%-plus of the people in this thread would look like wretched little bastards.

For all I know, DJ really could be alive and well, but it's a tad rude to assume, "Well, he left on a sour note. Let's just erase the poor bastard from the existance of this forum without a farewell!"

Again, he could be very much so in poor health, or worse--in which case, I give my blessings--or he could be alive and well, indulging in a pornographic film and a bag of tostito's... But seriously, who is to be the asshole to just come along and wank on the bloke's possibly-legitimate RIP thread? It's all fair game. 50/50.

Now I have heard everything. You have the fuckin nerve to say this to or about me. Who do you think you are. Your MOD title is going to your head.

I don't need to post on a shrine thread to please anyone!

I didn't need to wave a flag for all to see just to make points with anyone. I PMed those who I felt needed my words, and that included Paul before his passing and a few others after he passed.

Cardi you stepped over the line this time. Stop looking to pick apart certain posters, your killing the boards with your crap. You would notice that if you listen once in a while instead of mocking others.

Re: Double-J - 11/28/06 02:04 AM

Dead? Not quite. I don't think they can kill me that easy.

My apologies for all of this confusion - however, I think that much of this could have been avoided. The truth of the matter is that I do really know Mad Johnny in real life. And I was convalescing shortly after the beginning of my Thanksgiving absence. And he did come to see me.

However, there wasn't any hospital ( ), and I wasn't deathly ill. It was the flu...I'm not sure what happened here. I spoke to MJ on the phone after our mutual banning last week, and had basically told him that I was going to leave the boards. When he came over to see me, he tried to persuade me to come back (much like all of the emails and well-wishes I've received...which were quite confusing until I checked this board) but I refused. I think his signature was initially supposed to be a little homage to me or something, but clearly it was inappropriate since I'm (naturally) quite fine and able bodied. In actually, if anyone had the real potential of being seriously injured, it was MJ...he had recently been in an auto accident.

From what I discussed with MJ today on the phone, he seemed to think that it was his responsibility to convince the boards that I was going to be "gone for good," and he clearly embellished to make his point. Again, that really is me in the photo (albeit from about 6 or 7 years ago, with bleached hair).

I sincerely apologize for any misconceptions because of what happened. I never intended my leaving these boards to be anything other than private between myself and the few people I talk to outside of the forum. I am quite sheepish after all of the well-wishing and emotion expressed in this thread because of me, since I was basically fine.

The bottom line with regards to all of this is that I am most certainly not dead (at least according to my pulse), but I don't think I will be sticking around these boards any longer. I sincerely apologize for any misconception that was brought about because of this - again, I have spoken to Mad Johnny and made it clear that he should have not lead people on with regards to my "demise," as it were; I hope that you will take this into account with regards to his actions. He should have obviously told people straight away that I wasn't "gone," in the permanent sense. I hope that you don't respond too harshly with him; he was simply angry that I was leaving after last weeks incident, and felt vindicated enough to post this thread.

Again, I'm not sure what else I can say, other than that I am NOT dead, and didn't intend for this whole thing to be blown out of proportion the way it is, especially in light of Plaw's recent passing.

Rest assured, I'm alive and well.

"Turn me on, dead man,"
Double-J

Double J, I am relieved to find out that you are alive and recoverd from your bout with the flu. As many of the previous posts indicated, we were all rather confused and quite concerned and definitely NOT amused at jokes about death (especially Mama Mig. I see that, and again, I'm sorry. If anyone here sent me an email and I didn't reply, let me know, because I know I tried to explain to everyone what happened after I saw this thread tonight.

With regards to the flu, that's what you get when you have relatives that work for the local school district - anything they get seems to spread through the entire household like a plague, even with my can of Lysol disinfectant at my side...

Again, my sincerest apologies SB, DA, and Miggy, and thanks for your concern.

In the words of Vito Corleone:

"How did things ever get so far?"

Double-J, I am glad to hear you are alive and well. I am one of those eternal semi-optimists (on the BB, anyway) who would like to think there is a way for all our differences of opinion here to be dealt with in a mature and respectful fashion. Yes, I know, it doesn't always happen.

I, personally, would not like to see you leave the Boards.

I will say again, as I did earlier in this thread, that I feel nobody here would want to see physical harm come to another member.

However, after reflecting on what Mad Johnny has done, I may be forced to amend that statement.

Thanks for your kind words, SV, but I hope that you guys won't be too hard on MJ. From what he's told me, he was more angry with himself over the fact that I was banned sticking my neck out for him. I agree completely with Signor Vitelli. There is nothing clever, cute or original about this demented stunt. It reflects an immature and ill mind.

This is my first post in this thread although I read the original post and a few responses this afternoon at work. Yes, from Johnny's self-indulgent, whiny introduction, I had my doubts about the authenticity of his claim. Also, his representation that he was too distraught to post sounded disengenous, but part of me felt that even he wouldn't mislead us on such a grave matter.

Anyway, he deliberately perpetrated a cruel fraud on the board, and his credibility is shot. The truth from a liar is not to be believed.

Re: Double-J - 11/28/06 04:46 AM

Oh my! Have you all been fooled... I've been reading this thread from the beginning sensing something fishy, and if there aren't some bans handed out here I will be surprised at the foolishness of the moderators.

At the same time I have to say... BRAVO! Mad Johnny, Double-J, and Fathersson! I'm impressed at how well your prank has gone! Starting with Mad Johnny's controversial messages, followed by Fathersson's defense of Mad Johnny (oh the controversy thickens!) and finally, after many "Oh no! Is Double-J dead!?"'s and "This had better not be a joke MJ!"'s, that sets up the perfect timing of Double-J coming back and saying "Oh I'm not dead!" while at the same time covering up for Mad Johnny's first post that would surely lead to another ban. Well done!

You guys pulled the old forum prankster sting operation by sending in the obvious trouble maker (Mad Johhny) to get everyone riled up, then having a third party (Fathersson) defend him so that he doesn't look like a COMPLETE prankster, and then ending with the topic (Double-J) miraculously coming into the picture with all sorts of explanations. The result? A completely effective disruption of the forums and amazing abilty to walk away squeaky clean.

Congrautlations "Gangster BB Brat Pack"! You have effectively screwed with the emotions of the few left in this forum community! I have to say I love the signatures and even more specifically the avatar Double-J!

Of course, the natural prankster responses will be for all three to get upset when they read this post in order to prove their innocence. In fact I would expect Mad Johhny and Fathersson to act insulted because they were only talking about a "lost friend" or defending one who was supposedly a caring person, while Double-J on the other hand will probably use his post count as credibility to further deceive the regulars on this board.

Re: Double-J - 11/28/06 04:50 AM

Lets see, what did Mr. MadJohnny say exactly:

"Because a certain member seems bent on being unreasonable about this, I'm starting a thread. I apologize to those who didn't want me to start a thread. I really am.

Double-J was my friend since high school. We were both in Model United Nations together and that's how I really got to know the guy.

I'm sorry I can't really talk about it right now, its so upsetting. I was just afraid people wouldn't take it seriously and mock it all out. It hurts really bad to lose a friend, especially so young. Its like having part of you torn down "

----------------------

Again, very vague and suggestive, but he doesn't say anything.

When I read the first post, I knew MadJohnny wasn't serious. When hes emotional, or usually, pissed about something, he doesn't construct his words such he did for this thread. Hes always straight forward. Go back and read his posts about Bush.

If anything, I blame people fooled by MadJohnny for taking it for granted without thinking about it. I mean, even those that hate MJ seem to have forgotten his history.

I'm sorry, but its like that guy who falls for the easiest and ancient prank phone calls in the world: How can I feel sorry for them?

Besides, I doubt DJ is seriously upset about all this. Right?

I wouldn't rule out the fact the Double-J was involved with all this. I mean if you REALLY think about it, it's all too convenient for Mad Johnny to post this topic while DJ is away from the message boards.

All I'm saying is look into this deeply... Mad Johnny isn't the only culprit here.

The crap started in another thread, here. There was nothing ambiguous as far as what was said there (or in Mad Johnny's signature, for that matter).

Dude, I've read those posts in that thread, and again, MJ obviously is pissing around.

As our recently disabled DoubleJ would or might say, don't blame the prankster for the fools that get embarrased.

Better yet, lets quote that movie UHF:

"Guns don't kill people...I do!"

Is Double-J dead!?"'s and "This had better not be a joke MJ!"'s, that sets up the perfect timing of Double-J coming back and saying "Oh I'm not dead!" while at the same time convering up for Mad Johnny's first post that would surely lead to another ban. Well done!

Aw c'mon. Third graders could do this. These clowns didn't exactly split the atom.

As for the reaction, I don't think the wool was pulled over the eyes. There was genuine doubt, but because the implication of the posts was that the well-being of a fellow member, for whom many members cared, was in peril (high stakes indeed), there was legitimate concern.

I was the victim of a similar "prank" when on a Sunday night I got a call that my brother was in surgery with head injuries after an accident. Yes, my mom and I rushed to the hospital in tears only to find that he wasn't there. We called other hospitals before finding out it was a "joke". Ha ha, you got me. So excuse me if I don't share the mirth.

If you think this was a funny prank, go yell "fire" in a theatre or call in a bomb scare.

Whether or not *I* think it is funny or not has nothing to do with the fact that a death was faked on these message forums. There will be arguments I'm sure, but even J Geoff said himself that there will certainly be bans if this turns out to be a joke. You said it yourself, even third graders could pull this one off. And they did.

Oh Mr.Soprano, I'm like all artists. We borrow everything from everyone, though the great ones outright just steal!

Here's another "original" just for you. Go piss off.

An artist? really? could have fooled me...i thought you were just some guy with too much time on his hands.

And how about you grow up a little bit, i'm starting to think its past your bed time.

Re: Double-J - 11/28/06 05:56 AM

Like all artists, I'm pretentious as well and overrate my own creativity. Humility is a sign of virtue.

Besides, I'm only immature when I insult you?

Re: Double-J - 11/28/06 05:58 AM

A question that sounds more like a statement. No, no i think you serve a purpose on here with your reviews. Though i find they sometimes become too preachy. And now, you've proben to be immature in other situations as well.

anyways i don't feel like argueing anymore.

Re: Double-J - 11/28/06 06:02 AM

A Canadian telling an America that he's preachy.

Hey, you suffer the same problem that Irishman has sometimes. The lack of willingness to use their balls.

I admit I'm an asshole. I admit I don't care if I hurt people's feelings when I call them out on it. I don't have some false civil nonsense on my part.

Well, Tom Hagen has gotten ballsier and outright assertive with his reviews, and guess what? He's become easily one of the top 3 critics on these boards, along with Capo and DonVercetti.

Now you'll quit arguing, in perfect paper tiger fashion.

What a pussy.
