FAQ: [SPOILER] tag

AS OF VERSION 7.3, THE SPOILER TAG IS NOW BUILT INTO THE COMMENT BOX BUTTONS.

A new UBB Code tag has been added to allow you to hide spoiler text. For example:



Usage:

You have to type it yourself - the code has been added to the Main FAQ for reference.

IF THIS IS USED IMPROPERLY, I WILL ISSUE WARNINGS/SUSPENSIONS, AND/OR DISABLE IT!

Please use it for its intended use...

This is an AWESOME feature Geoff, thanks! I wish this would have been handy when the 6th Harry Potter book came out. I remember a member posted the ending of the book, spoiling it for the rest of us, and I've never seen him again.

I don't read the books (at least not past the first couple) -- I just wait for the movies...

Of course, forget that I wasn't able to get it to work, but I'll keep trying and let you know if I don't figure it out. I hope people use it for any potential spoilers.

Geoff,
Will there be a button you can just push for the tag, similar to the italicize or bold buttons? I've found myself using the spoiler tag a few times in the past two days, and sometimes it works, and sometimes not so much.

I may add new buttons in the future, it's just a pain in the butt. I wanna see how this works first, anyway, to make sure it's not abused

Ok, I've avoided asking this because I wanted to figure it out myself, but I still don't get it. I understand you have to type "[spoiler" but then what? I hate to be a dummy, but can you give me a step by step?

I have to use the "code" tag to show you. Let me break it down...

This was the original example:


That means you first type this exactly, with the brackets:

Then type whatever it is you want to type...

Then at the end, you type this, with the slash in the brackets:


All UBB code tags work like this. For instance, you use the letter b to bold, the letter i to italicize, etc.

All the codes are spelled out on the main FAQ page.

I'll create a full thread about UBB Codes when I get some time...

Ok, I think it worked!! Only I typed in spoiler like you said and it didn't work, so I copied/pasted your "spoiler, etc", deleted the blah blah blah and added my extra secret spoiler.

Yeah!!! I did it!!!
