Lucy Mancini did not have a child in the book, nobody says anything in the GF Returns, would Vincent appear in any book?

He's a creature of the movie script for GFIII, not of any novel written by Puzo.

I posted a topic similar to this one earlier, Don Pappo Napolitano. I don't think the character "Vincent Mancini" should have been created by Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo. Vincent was about 25(+)-years old in The Godfather Part III, so he would have been born in the mid-1950's, and there is no evidence of his existence during Lucy Mancini's relationship with Dr. Jules Segal in the mid-1950's (in The Godfather the novel), and Sonny Corleone died in the late-1940's, so I don't think Vincent was actually Sonny's son. Either Lucy lied to Vincent for more than 25 years, or Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo made a critical mistake in creating his character.

DVD says that Sonny dies in 1947 and Vincent is born in 1948. So, in 1979 Vincent is 31 years old.

That's about right.

In real life Garcia was born in April 1956, which would make him close to 35 when GF III was released.

Please remember that the book and the movie are two different things. Dr. Jules Segal doesn't exist in the movie. There is no reason to believe, in that context, that Lucy didn't give birth to Sonny's child. Everyone seems shocked that this character was introduced, since he never existed in the book, but neither did Mary Corleone, in the book Kay left Michael, which doesn't happen in the movie. There are many differences between the novel and the movie. At least Vincent's existence is possible, given that difference.

But, If the GODFATHER`s REVENGE(REVENGE OF WHAT????) was written by you know who, does Vincent have to exist in the next book? How could you explian Vincent`s existence? Maybe Sonny could have Vincent with another woman who was not Lucy Mancini, or maybe he could appear as a Freddo`s illegal son, or whatever.

If the DVD says that Sonny died in 1947 and Vincent was born in 1948, maybe Sonny could have knocked up his girl before he died. Like, say he jumped her bones in July and she had Vincent in April. It's possible, right?

I don't like this character.I like Andy Garcia, but that's another story blush And I'm back with Santino's boy,why is Michael being all the time with Vincenzo, and teaching him(well,he is 'bastardo',isn't he?),when his brother has two or three more children?!I remember Frank C. being only in one scene, when Don is in the bed,and Sonny is holding a little boy,who is reading a letter to his grandpa.Never mind.
I also think the movie and the book are two different things. Both are unique.

I must confess I enjoyed the playful face he made when Michael asked him "what are you doing with my daughter?" wink

If your gonna talk bout Vincent then lets talk bout Mary.

She wasn't even in the orginal book Mike and Kay had two sons in The Godfather then in the movie part 2 he all of a sudden had a boy and a girl and in GF returns same thing.

And now lets talk bout the baptism from GF it wasn't in the book it was a confirmation two completely different things so if your going to think about that one little difference(Vincent) then think bout all these other ones the book and movie are two completely different things Cuneo and Stracci didn't die in the book so why did they die in the movie?

Actually, we've talked about all those differences, and not once. You may find such discussions in this Novel section of the boards as well as in the Trilogy section.
