What are points given out to Fontaine?

Maybe i need to go to Vegas to learn the Casino business like Fredo. Since i m trying to figure what are points being given out to Fontaine and the performers for performing in the hotels.

"Points" represent a percentage of ownership in the hotel. Five points = 5%, 10 points, 10%, etc.

When organized crime controlled Las Vegas, they used fronts to pretend that they were owners, and gave these people the points, which ostensibly (but not really) represented thier share of ownership.
