Car Bomb at UN...Links to Real Life?

I'm in the process of writing a paper on Scarface for a particular class, and I'm trying to find information on the real-life events (if any) that the movie is based on...for instance, is their any particular person that the anti-drug diplomat was based upon? I've been trying to find some links along these lines, to no avail.

On September 11th 1980, A Cuban Diplomat in the United Nations, named Felix Garcia Rodriguez was assassinated. I don't know what the actual specifics were, but maybe you can start with this guy. Good luck.
