If they do....

If they do.... - 01/21/04 02:50 AM

Heya Guys, Well I'm new the the forum so be gently, lol wtf sorry, just breaking the ice. Alright I have a question for you guys. Who would you want to play the following roles if they made a new version of Scarface, I know it would suck, But say the movie was never made in 1983 and they were making it now. You've read the script so who would you cast. The only person that I can think of right now is a small time rapper named T-bone. He kinda looks like a Cuban drug lord lol but he would have to lose some wieght. Thats why i think Cuban Link would be so bad at the job cause he's a little chubby, who do u think could play, Elivra? Gina? Manny? Anyone else?

-Thanks for ur time

I'll be the first one to tell you only a few people on this board support rappers who like mob and gangster movies. You're off to a bad start. wink tongue I'll back you up. Welcome to the boards. -Pat

Re: If they do.... - 01/21/04 09:42 AM

Hmmmm...
Someone said John Leguizamo in another thread and I think that would work cuz he could easily play a Cuban but, I wonder how his acting would be. He doesn't seem to be comfortable in a serious acting role. As far as the rest of the cast goes... I can't really imagine anyone worthy of a role in that movie other then the originals.
Welcome to the boards.

Re: If they do.... - 01/21/04 03:40 PM

i think i dont put a rapper in tony´s role, because i think scarface is not a gansta movie is diferent is a ganster movie and need a actor can play no only a badass of the block , have to be more intelligent and organized too, for built his drug empire and have strong conection , and not act like a street drug dealer the mostly of the time , well is my personal opinion guys and respect others too, ciao

On second thought I deffinetly agree with Tonyistheking John Leguizamo would be a perfect Tony Montana, is he cuban. I know this is gonna get a lot of negative remarks but I think that Charlize Theron the girl in the movie Monster would be a pretty good Elivra... what do you guys think?

Re: If they do.... - 01/22/04 02:31 AM

Sorry, TS

I don't believe that a rapper would play any good part in a movie like this. The only two rappers that are good at acting are Ice Cube and Will Smith. There is supposedly a sequel coming soon and it hsould not have any rap related people at all, IMO. I really don't think rappers have any talent, even singing, because they don't sing, they just speak fast with a beat, and they have no musical/instrumental talent.

Re: If they do.... - 01/22/04 03:01 AM

i agree with u man , the only rappers who actually act are ice cube and will smith, but i think this role need a more serius actor if u want a cub actor maybe andy garcia , but i still thinking in the original cast was the better and the only one.

Awesome, I'm trying to think of somebody who could play Manny and Gina. This might be okay but Gina could be played by Nelly Fertado (don't know how to spell her last name" i think she could maybe play Gina, I'm looking 'roun to see who could play Manny

Re: If they do.... - 02/02/04 04:44 AM

I'm going to go ahead & tell you that my answer is biased, but I would have LOVED to just see how Robert De Niro would have done with the Tony Montana character. I don't think he would have been as good as Al, but he (De Niro) did a great job in Cape Fear with that whole southern accent/ex-con character, so it'd be fun to see what he could do with Tony. I also would love to see Martin Scorsese direct it (in the special features of Scarface they said Marty & De Niro almost made Scarface before Pacino & De Palma did). And for Elvira I would love to see Britney Spears, and Manny John L.

old cast

Re: If they do.... - 02/03/04 03:09 AM

yeah, i prefer that cast for the sequel, that´s the reason i don´t like to much the idea of make a scarface sequel , because, nothing be the same without the original cast.

Re: If they do.... - 02/04/04 05:32 AM

Manny would be the perfect Sosa! (He's sexy! wink )
But, that would ruin it for me, it'd be like a conflict of intrests or something. And that guy is too scarred ohwell Why is it so hard to find people to cast?
Posted By: Don Lights

Re: If they do.... - 02/04/04 07:58 PM

yeah casting for a film usually takes months of pre-production as everyone has to have confidence that the actors can handle the role.
Posted By: Owen

Re: If they do.... - 02/04/04 08:01 PM

Its so hard to even think about re-casting for such a great movie becuase, in the original all of the actors were the perfect choices for the rolls. Nobody will ever be able to replace them.

Re: If they do.... - 02/14/04 04:34 AM

I just don't understand why you guys think they have to look like the old characters. A remake doesn't have to follow the same story. The 1932 "Prohibition Version" was changed to the 1983 "Cocaine Version." -Pat
Posted By: TonyIsTheKing

Re: If they do.... - 02/14/04 05:39 AM

I think that a remake (or at least the one that we're casting for grin ) should have actors that fit the part.

actually, i think the person you selected for tony looks more like manny, besides the "hes puerto rican, he cant do the paart" remember, pacino's italian, not eve a bit latino, so thats no escuse grin

Look,

I hate to tell you guys this... On second thought, I LOVE TO TELL YOU GUYS THIS!

A Remake will be a sacralige that will be cashed in, by those rappers
Posted By: Don Lights

Re: If they do.... - 02/17/04 05:01 AM

yeah I agree with Mike Sullivan as all those rappers would want to try and get any role for any type of Scarface production.

no disprespect but would u guys shut up wink lol i agree that it would suck if there was a remake but were just doing this for F-U-N, and jude Law for Manolo! are u on crack?

Re: If they do.... - 02/18/04 10:58 PM

What's wrong with Jude Law?
Posted By: That Moltisanti kid

Re: If they do.... - 02/18/04 11:03 PM

if you have ever seen jude law's early film (about 97) love, honor and obey, also starring ray winstone and sadie frost you will see that he is talnted when it comes to playing gangsters plus he proved in 'road to perdition' he can do the american accent very well, so why not, plus as an extra bonus he has that stephen bauer walk in the same film and i figured it might not be an obvious choice but a good one anyway. and no im not on crack that would be your mother. (joking) wink

He needs to do a CUBAN accent!

Trust me here, As a Cuban American, I KNOW THAT THERE IS NO WAY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH that jude Law OF ALL PEOPLE could play Manolo

Why would you wanna put John Leguizamo in the starring role?

Are you guys on crack or what!! This guy cant act for shit, hes one of the shittiest actors I have ever seen.

Name a movie where he has done a good acting job.....cuz I sure as hell cant name one...

Re: If they do.... - 05/05/04 10:37 PM

I didnt like that movie AT ALL. I found the dialogue EXTREMELY annoying. Leguizamo didnt turn out a good performance. After seeing the movie, he made me realize that he truly was a shitty actor.

Re: If they do.... - 05/06/04 12:38 AM

John L. is a good actor, nothing better then good. He picks bad roles though. ohwell
Posted By: Busta

Re: If they do.... - 05/06/04 02:38 AM

First of all, it will be impossible to find someone to play Tony as good as Pacino did.

Secondly, it would have to be an actor who has already established himself as one of the best around by having obtained at least some several academy award nominations like Pacino had with both GF's, Dog Day Afternoon, And Justice For All, and Serpico too i think. There may be more that I am forgetting.

If it were to be done today exactly how it was done in '83 with different actors, i think a good choice would be Benicio Del Toro. He would just have to have a short hair cut and need to be a little more crazier than he has been in his previous roles. Hes already won an oscar for traffic and was nominated this year for 21 grams so we all kno he can act. The only bad thing bout him may be that he may not be crazy enough to be Tony Montana. He definitely looks like a Cuban tho, hes making a movie where he will be Che Guevara called surprisingly Che.

As for Manny, I think Johnny Depp would be very funny and could also pass as a Cuban with the right hair style. He already played Don Juan Demarco so he prolly could pull off an accent.
Posted By: Busta

Re: If they do.... - 05/07/04 12:54 AM

Also, a good Sosa would be Pierce Brosnan with a tan and a Colombian accent. I think he could pull it off.
Posted By: Busta

Re: If they do.... - 05/19/04 02:29 AM

What happened to this post? I'm interested to see what people think of my ideas and what other people think would make good Tony Montanas.

Did I hear correctly...they are goingto make a rap version of Scarface? What will that include? Gangstas, hoodrats, etc..please!!!

Re: If they do.... - 05/22/04 02:33 AM

Yes DB, all of that in the mouthfuls. They are totally going to screw up Scarface. They areonly using the Scarface name for thier Ghetto-thuggish-home-boy-gangsta crap is because they are afraid that it will fail miserably if its not somehow attached to Scarface mad

Re: If they do.... - 05/22/04 02:51 AM

if you guys ever saw the 1 season long sereis called Kingpin on NBC, i think either the main character or his brother on the show could play a good Manny. And for Tony they should just get some fresh cuban actor to do it.
