The Return of SF - Promotion Contest!

THE RETURN OF SF has been doing well, but Dejohn and I really wanna get the word out more about this great book as we're sure everyone would enjoy it. We'd like to hear your most creative ideas to get the word out, and Dejohn will award prizes to those who've implemented them!

What have you done in the past at school, work, community, family, or on the internet -- or anywhere else -- that you've successfully told or demonstrated to others something you were passionate about?

If you're willing to do it for THE RETURN OF SF -- you may win some great RoSF prizes (books, caps, t-shirts, etc)! What you need to do is come up with a great idea, then implement it, to help spread the word. Do you have the ultimate publicity idea?

There will be one winner each week for the next 6 weeks, announced each Monday, starting Nov 10th (if there are enough entrants this week).

It can be over-the-top (but nothing illegal or dangerous please), or something simple. As long as you help spread the word.

Why can't I find this book in Barnes and Noble?

i dont really have any GOOD ideas but i do have something involving a nail gun, gatorade bottle and ice cream cone... nevermind...

why don't you try just advertising near areas that are selling the new scarface dvd. i dont really know where but mayb ehang up some of teh psoters and put teh adress where you can order and buy it from.

i really really wanna buy the book, but i cant find it anywhere, J Geoff, do u know when theyre gonna put it in stores?

here's my idea:
if you have banners for the book, put them up in stores that're located in a place where many people go. it'd be better if it were at a store that sells books AND videos/dvds, such as Borders. i know how they're a major company and might not have the book, so you could try a popular "mom and pop" store in your area that you know is popular. you could also help sponsor things like maybe a new restaurant in your area that is opening. see if there are anymore popular sites like this one that you could put a banner on too. also, billboards on highways are also a good way to attract viewers. -Pat

I really don't know if you could do this, but maybe you could put advertisments inside the new Scarface DVD (like the Def Jam ads). I'd think that would help sell a few copies.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing as Patrick, maybe try to have a store hand out promotional posters or bookmarks if someone buys The Godfather novel or any other crime book or movie. Also, maybe we could go to our local bookstore and ask them if we could help promote it, like maybe have a sheet that says "If you like Scarface, you'll love The Return of SF", and give out our e-mail adresses so they could contact us and we could tell them about it and about this site. With the growing popularity of Scarface, I think that a lot of people will want to read it. I would love to promote it, because I like it so much.

Well I got a bunch of my new friends at school into Scarface (the movie) and I have told them about the old and new SF book and told them to spread it around to people who like the original.

One thing we could do is advertise it on other websites besides GFT and get a lot of the people here in high school (the majority here) to print out a bunch of flyers about it and just put them all over the school saying where you can get the book and how much

Magazine ads work well, a good place to advertize it is in a magazine like "The Source" because as you know a lot of people that listen to rap music probably like Scarface also, becuase there rapper idols do. I also dont think that "The Source" charges a lot for ads. You might also try a magazine ad partering with Univeral advertizing the DVD and in the corner also giving the information about the book.

Ideas like these are great - but I think the idea is to actually implement (do) something like what you're talking about...

For instance: If you guys were given postcards or posters or flyers or things like that, would you be willing to hand them out or post them to appropriate people/places? Especially with a photo of the results?

Congrats guys! I posted about it on another message board I go to. I'll try to tell kids at my school about it, but I don't think that anyone likes to read there that much, even though it seems like a lot of kids in some of my classes are Scarface fans. It can't hurt to try though.

Good going guys! How's this for advertising: I got a white shirt and wrote:
"The Return of Scarface" on the front and "www.thereturnofsf.com" on the back and wore it around town on Saturday. You wouldn't believe the looks I got! I think I have some pictures if anyone wants to see them

Me and ScarfaceRH are planning to go up to stores over the weekend, and post flyers on their bulletin board, and we are going to ask the people at the stores if we can put one on their window. We are planning to do this but I am not sure if we will be able to.

Well, I didn't get out to putting the ads anywhere yet, theres still time tomorrow. I am going to the Bengals game and maybe I could put them under people's seats if I get in early or something.

Well, I just got the book today and I have read about 40 pages so far (too much homework). I am loving it. I think I am going to go to some local bookstores and ask if they can handout a piece of flyer type thing that advertises for the Return of SF. I am trying to think of other ideas also.

I have a pretty cool teacher and I am gonna get her to hang an ad for the book on the front of her desk for every desk that she has because she teaches in more than one classroom (I think, if she only teaches in one, I'll just ask her to put it on that one)

I'm going to ask my boss at Arby's on Friday if I can have a pile of flyers out on the counter with the advertisement. -Pat

I am gonna go to a skate shop by my house (sorta) and leave a stack of flyers where they leave free posters and stuff. (well if its okay with them and im sure it will be, I will not be able to do it yet, but I will next time I go there)

Whoa, just noticed this. I've already told all my friends about it and pointed them to the website. Most are interested since we are all movie-loving freaks who, for the most part, consider Scarface to be an excellent movie. Since I don't have a job, I can't get any proper permission to design flyers and hang them around, but I will continue spreading the word throughout school (I already made my friends order copies of Paul Monette's Scarface from Amazon -- I too ordered one and am expecting delivery). Hope this helps get the book some recognition (and finally be available on Amazon!).

Oh, and I'll try mentioning it on the GameFaqs message boards (my username is "DOGG").

Just found out about the contest. I e-mailed the website info to over 35 addresses. I got them from family and friends.

I have put the link for the site in my signature on this BB, and in my signature for a DVD message board I go to. I have also talked about it on the movie board and one other different one (I posted the link to the site there also). Also, when I first heard about it, I put something like "The Return of SF coming soon!" in my signature here. I also posted about how I liked it so much after I read it on here.

Since I've already won , I feel bad posting again, but if someone had a white car they could get that window paint stuff and write "The Return of SF" on one side of the car and "www.returnofsf.com" on the other side. I would but I have no car.

i will advertise the website in my buddy profile and i will put a small poster above every urinal in the boys bathroom, and i will put flyers in every car in my neigborhood mall's parking garage. I will also put a small poster of the title with information in every bus stop in Arlington.i would also participate in my school's bake sale, and bake apple pies, and when you finish the pies, the book cover and information would be right there.
