Good list, Hollander. 
Both "The Thing" and "The Shining" caught a lot of flack from critics who thought they were way over the top. I own both, and view them at least 2-3 times/year. Terrific entertainment.

Thanks Turnbull the 80s were the decade of VHS we went renting videos every week.
