The Best Supporting Actor category looks a little tasty..

As long as Joaquin wins for JOKER, I'll be happy. That's the award I'm most vested in this year.

FWIW, I hear they predicted Brad Pitt would win supporting actor and they predict the Joker would take the most oscars. For me, the only movies that appeal to me are the Joker, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and The Irishman and maybe Ford Vs Ferrari.

Agree, I hope the Academy can hold on to some form of integrity this year.

I was disappointed when Joaquin failed to win a Oscar for Walk The Line so this maybe his year..

You and me both. I was really rooting for him that year. That film single-handly turned me into a Johnny Cash fan. I think 1917 is gonna clean up the Oscars in terms of everything outside of best/supporting actor/actress.

Big suprise with the Parasite. Haven't seen it yet, but I thought 1917 would win best picture and best director. Such a great movie.

You and me both. PARASITE was a very good movie, but thought the Academy would bite on the 1917 bait. Fun fact: PARASITE is the first non-English speaking movie to win Best Picture.

Re: Oscars 2020 - 02/18/20 02:27 AM

I've watched a lot of Korean movies lately. Parasite was good. It wasn't Oscar good, though. Not even in the top 3 Korean movies I've watched.

I'm disappointed but not surprised that Brad Pitt won an Oscar for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. There's a difference between being charismatic and cool, and acting superbly. If that performance wins an acting prize then the bar is set pretty low IMO. He didn't do anything extraordinary in that movie. I haven't seen the Tom Hanks and Anthony Hopkins movies but Joe Pesci blew him out of the water in The Irishman.

I was surprised Pitt won too. I thought they would have given it to Pesci, Pacino, or Hanks (didn't see THE TWO POPES) but I thought Pitt had no shot of winning it. Disappointed THE IRISHMAN got passed over so much and surprised PARASITE won over 1917. They both were very good movies but thought the Academy would have bite more for 1917 than for the first foreign film for Best Picture. Again, not a bad movie PARASITE, just surprised it won. Just glad Joaquin finally got his Oscar (and the 2nd for an actor playing the Joker).

2 Popes was very intriguing..I loved ..but u have 2 be into that kinda of weird genre ..It's a "just what if" kinda thing..Anthony Perkins is all that......
