Elvis 68" Comeback Tribute - 02/17/19 05:41 PM

Ok, I mentioned this special to air tonight on another thread. I remember this show very well. I found this on youtube and assume this will be the closing song (as on the original show). The writer of this song is Walter Earl Brown, and I've read (and maybe knew at the time, but forgot), that some of the lyrics consist of quotes/phrases by Martin Luther King Jr. Also, for the young ones, 1968 was the year that both RFK and MLK were assassinated and this was in Dec., just months later. Lot of tension/turmoil in our country. This is one of EPs best IMO. Enjoy wink

The 68 comeback special is one of the great TV performances and kick started Elvis's career as he had been doing corny films for the best part of the 60's. This performance made way for the touring years and of course Vegas. When i visited Graceland, in our hotel this show was on a loop with his Hawaii show.
