Coming Attractions - 05/17/18 06:57 PM

We already have such a vibrant movie thread discussion that I thought we could use one for upcoming movies as well. Being that DEADPOOL 2 is being released today, I've included a trailer for it that pokes fun at the recent MCU 10-year anniversary/AVENGERS:INFINITY WAR. Enjoy!

Very funny.

" low level special effects budget" hilarious.

Looks good.

I'll be seeing it tonight. Look for my review for tomorrow but I'm confident that I'll recommend seeing it. If you saw the first one and enjoyed it, I'd say see the sequel as well.

Great thread.

Look forward to seeing many informative posts here, hope we can do this more often with threads so specific subjects and matter can be easily accessed.

I have been searching for another post that had shown Pesci on the set of a movie being shot but it was randomly posted and cannot locate.

Suspiria

I really hope they don't mess this up. I honestly was against the remake as the original SUSPIRIA is one of my favorite horror films of all-time!

Widows

This looks pretty interesting as well! It tells the story of four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands' criminal activities.

Halloween (2018)

I'm not sure how I feel about this, even after the trailer. The original HALLOWEEN is one of my 2 favorite horror movies of all-time, so it's sacred ground as far as I'm concerned. I'll still see this, just still processing it after viewing the trailer.

Was just about to post this. Not sure how I feel about them retconning things, but the trailer looks promising enough IMO.

Anyone plan on seeing the new Jurrasic World movie? I wasn't necessarily planning on seeing it, but the previews look pretty good. I think I only saw two in the series, the first one released just a couple years ago, forgot the full title.

Me neither. Gotta be honest after seeing Jurassic Park in the theaters in 93 I have no interest in these new ones because they can’t touch that. Plus I hate cgi

Re: Coming Attractions - 06/14/18 08:22 PM

The original was the only one I've seen and even after it, just never had a desire to see it again. Similar to AVATAR. I've seen it in the theaters and not since (so going on 9 years now). And, they're releasing a total of 4 sequels to bring the franchise to 5 movies overall (AVATAR that is, not Jurassic)!

Anyone looking forward to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?

Interesting premise, granted Brad Pitt has the ability to drag down any movie he's cast in. And Tarantino has lost his way since Jackie Brown.

Re: Coming Attractions - 10/04/18 02:58 PM

I was looking forward to Vice starring Christian Bale as Don Cheney.... until I looked at the rest of the cast. Tyler Perry as Colin Powell? Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld? Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush? Ugh.. It's truly awful casting. Sam Rockwell is an atrocious actor. He singlehandedly ruined that 3 Billboards movie with his stupid overacting.

I'm finding with a lot of movies these days that I have no interest in them because of the presence of one or two actors I don't rate.

I don't know if it's because there are no good actors anymore or because of wrong casting decisions. Probably a little of both.

I mean, Sam Rockwell would probably be only the fourth or fifth best actor if he was on something like Trailer Park Boys. I don't know how he gets movie roles like this.
Posted By: Irishman12

Re: Coming Attractions - 10/04/18 06:29 PM

I had a hard time seeing Christian Bale as Cheney (with all the makeup on). I'm curious how Rockwell does as Bush? He has me intrigued from the trailer and I like Steve Carell. He's got range so I'm wondering what he can do with Rumsfeld. I'll see the movie but not excited after just the first trailer. Will have to see more footage first.

First teaser for the movie with Zac Efron portraying Ted Bundy and it doesn't look good unfortunately. I thought Efron was a good likeness for Bundy and could maybe subvert his own image, but his acting in this teaser is pretty unconvincing. Aside from that, it doesn't look like it's going to do anything with the material that wasn't done in the made-for-TV movies. And the annoying gay guy from The Big Bang Theory is the prosecutor. For some reason.

Yeah I saw the trailer yesterday too and I wasn't impressed. I'm sure I'll still see the movie and when I first heard about the project and saw pictures from it, I kinda got somewhat excited. But after seeing the trailer yesterday, that's all gone now.

Re: Coming Attractions - 01/26/19 11:04 PM

It's rated PG-13 as well. I guess that kind of explains the tone presented in the trailer, which makes Ted look like a loveable scamp, not someone who raped and tortured women and children.

Didn't know the rating. I understand the reasoning as studios want to show the film to as wide of an audience as possible and PG-13 fills that. However, I've always felt, it hindered the film depending on the subject matter (i.e., horror movies, Deadpool, etc). Certain things, unless you water them way down, which I believe takes away from it, don't do the movie justice and I always avoid them if I know they're PG-13 going in to it. Still might catch it on demand or something but wouldn't waste my time in the theaters on it.

Heard yesterday that Netflix is buying the rights to this for about $9 million. Guess it's not gonna be good if the studio's giving up on it. Netflix will still release it in theaters but I'll just wait until it comes to their library.

Joker
Posted By: The Italian Stallionette

Re: Coming Attractions - 04/03/19 07:12 PM

By previews, looks pretty good but imo Ledgers joker is one of the best performances ever and is what drew me to the Dark Knight because I was so intrigued by Heath Ledger's joker. It's on tv often and I find I always have to see at least part of it just to see his outstanding performance.

That being said, I am not and never was a Batman fan to speak of. Is this movie Batman also or ONLY The Joker's story? By previews, Phoenix looks pretty creepy and movie sounds like it might be good. It got my attention. However, he has big shoes to fill IMHO to beat Ledger. wink

Re: Coming Attractions - 04/03/19 08:06 PM

No one's ever beating Ledger's Joker. Period. The guy won an Oscar for it, which the Academy NEVER does (recognize comic book movies/roles with the "meaningful" Oscars). To answer your question, no, there is no Batman in this film. It's purely a film about the Joker.

Re: Coming Attractions - 08/24/20 03:23 AM

One of the main reasons I almost never go to movie theaters anymore is that they tell you the film starts at such-and-such a time. Then you get there and have to sit through 20 to 25 minutes of coming attractions of movies you're not interested in--they always pick out the loudest, most violent scenes, and the sound tracks are turned up to peak volume. Sometimes I opened the door to the auditorium and the sound waves practically blew me back into the lobby. Left my ears ringing for the main feature. Ugh! mad
Posted By: Giacomo_Vacari

Re: Coming Attractions - 08/24/20 04:36 AM

I can relate Turnbull, add the air conditioning which makes the auditorium feel like a fridge. Sometimes during the winter they have the heater on so high you are either sweating or it is set to where you fall a sleep that happened to me a couple of times when I was dragged to the movie.

Coming attractions
Bill and Ted
The New Mutants
The King's Man
Death on the Nile
No Time to Die
There are a couple of maybes.

Looks like it's going to be a difficult film to get through but just in time for Oscar season.

This sounds like it could be good.

I'm against this sequel. The first is such a masterpiece that they can never replicate it, but only take away from it's legacy with a follow-up. Although, I did eat my words that I didn't think the first would be as successful as it was so maybe I'll be proved wrong again.

Phoenix and Gaga this is gonna be great, I do agree sequels are often worse than the original, but hey The Godfather II was also better than the first lol.

I'm in the minority, I've always liked the original Godfather more than the sequel (nobody beats Brando as Vito, not even De Niro).
