I've been DVRing reruns of this show but they only show one a week.. Argh.
I like the character of Dr. House. I can't think of another character like him on TV.

FINALLY! Some love for HOUSE!
This is by far my favorite show on television right now (seeing as the new season of 24 was delayed until January '09.)
Dr. Gregory House is a jerk, and has a very prickly bedside manner, but he's nearly always right. Hugh Laurie is endlessly entertaining in the lead role, and his interactions with Dr. Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) and Dr. Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) are always hilarious.
I absolutely CANNOT recommend this show enough. It's brilliant.

I love HOUSE, but until tonight haven't DVR'd it -- it was a passing thing, but, I didn't wanna miss the new eps. And as long as I have this current DVR, won't miss any new eps.
BONES is okay, too; but, I like HOUSE more. BONES go lost once NEW AMSTERDAM came out -- brilliant

I too recently started wathing re-runs of this show. Pretty good show. He's the Jack Bauer of the medical field!
I love the show, and I love how Hugh Laurie has a perfect American accent even though in real life he has a relatively thick English one

I've never really seen the show, other than 5/10 minutes of it. He is a different type character isn't he??? Is this a comedy or a drama?
He almost seems comical, from what I've seen.

It's a pretty funny show with plenty of drama too. I like the comedy more than the drama myself.
Brilliant Doctor addicted to painkillers. Walks around with a cane with flames on it. Drives a motorcycle with a handicap placard...

You should have seen him in JEEVES AND WOOSTER with his best pal,Stephen Fry, if you wanted to hear a proper cut glass English accent!
The show was rubbish though.....unlike House, which is pretty good, although i don't watch it regularly. Mrs. Yogi does though!

I am getting a late start, but I have been watching several episodes of House (last week and there were 2 episodes in a row last night). Not too bad really. This Doctor is not very ethical is he?
Actually I only tuned in because it was a crappy tv afternoon. However, I can see where I would watch it again.

You should watch some youtube videos of interviews or whatnot, it's kind of startling to hear his accent with his face after watching House.
I checked his pevious work and didn't come across anything I remember seeing him in.
I'll check you tube. Yea, it's hard to picture him with an accent after watching all the House episodes.

Apparently, there is a new TV classification system that is expressed through the digital TV guide description of episodes. Some House episodes are thus described as having explicit sex scenes and violence. Anybody else encountered this?
Thanks Afs. I have never heard of the Black Adder but will try to check it out, and I admit Sense & Sensibility I know, but the movie didn't appeal to me, so I didn't see it.
I never would have guessed that was in the picture you posted.
He's obviously a very versatile actor.

My pleasure TIS!
The first Black Adder series wasn't that good IMO, save for the one in which Black Adder is appointed to be the Archbishop of Canterbury.
But it gets better and better, especially in the last two seasons where Hugh Laurie joins the show. In any case, it is a very British show, with all the references to Shakespeare and their historical heritage, plus out of place references like speaches of Martin Luther King in the renaissance era!

What's with this new TV classification system as part of the digital TV guide description of TV episodes and movies. It classifies some episodes of House as having "explicit" sex scenes and "violence". Anybody else seen these classifications? Wher is the explicit sex and violence in House? I don't see it.
Hmm. Where are these classifications? I haven't seen them. I am a new viewer of House and I don't recall anything explicit in the show.
If I had young kids I would imagine it would be a helpful tool though.

TIS, it is the classification system that your cable company may provide through its guide. I have Charter and it provides an extensive guide that contains these ratings on each show.

Yesterday's episode wasn't great but it looks like next week will be better.
House (also known as
House M.D.)is an American medical drama series produced by David Shore and
Bryan Singer. The pilot episode premiered on Fox, a terrestrial television network, on November 16,
2004. The series revolves around Dr. Gregory House, a maverick medical genius who heads a team of
diagnosticians at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. House and his
team use differential diagnosis to arrive at initial diagnoses, which are often wrong, on account of the
unusual cases that Dr.
House accepts.
House frequently clashes with his boss Cuddy, and his only
friend, Dr. Wilson.

How did House hurt his leg?
Posted By: Longneck
Re: House - 03/08/09 04:20 PM
How did House hurt his leg?
he suffered an infarction in his right leg, which went misdiagnosed for three days due to doctors' concerns that he was exhibiting drug-seeking behavior (House eventually diagnosed the infarction himself). An aneurysm in his thigh had clotted, leading to an infarction and causing his quadriceps muscle to become necrotic. House had the dead muscle bypassed in order to restore circulation to the remainder of his leg, risking organ failure and cardiac arrest. He was willing to endure excruciating post-operative pain to retain the use of his leg. After House was put into a chemically induced coma to sleep through the worst of the pain, Stacy, House's medical proxy, acted against his wishes and authorized a safer surgical middle-ground procedure between amputation and a bypass by removing just the dead muscle. This resulted in the partial loss of use in his leg, and left House with a lesser, but still serious, level of pain for the rest of his life. House could not forgive Stacy for making the decision, so because of this, Stacy left him.[23] House now suffers chronic pain in his leg, uses a cane to aid his walking, and takes Vicodin (hydrocodone) frequently to relieve his pain.

Tonight's episode...
oh snap!
I am really getting to like this show. I don't even know when it's regular day and time slot are. I've seen it on USA which has had marathons on the weekends, and I usually catch some of those.
Although, it does appear after a while Dr. House manages to come across all these off the wall diseases and/or finds the patience infection is from some bacteria found in the patient's house. He is is so rude he's hilarious.
I can't imagine any doctor like this in reality.
Last week in what was a repeat, a patient standing in the room with House, passes out from an illness or whatever, and drops on the floor. House's response, "Now that's why we have nurses....." Then shouts out "Clean-up on aisle 3."
Sort of an Archie Bunker type in a way. You love to hate him. He does grow on you.
Oh and another example of how terrible he can be. He is examining an young Asian girl for whatever reason. The teenage girl seems to not have too much on the ball. House turns to the mother and says, "she's not the brightest chop stick in the drawer is she." Now how long would a Doctor last in real life?

I just recently started watching "House" reruns on USA. DVR'd yesterday's marathon. I was really hoping he would keep Bosley around. I don't know why I don't watch this as a regular series, but now I don't think I want to, because the reruns are only up to the 3rd or 4th season, and I don't think I'd want to skip ahead THAT much.

I DVR House and watch it weekly. While there may be some nods to previous story lines here and there, you can probably pick up a new season without missing too much. (Mid-season might be hard, tho)

I believe because she was the thirteenth applicant in a roomful of potential team members.
Yes, House was told to assemble a team of three, and he didn't want to bother with applications and interviews, so he took all 40 applicants and slowly whittled that down. He gave them numbers to wear around their necks. Instead of learning any of their names, he either gave them nicknames, or referred to them by the numbers on their chests.

Good call. Come to think of it, I don't think so...
I'm not loving the addition of Amber Tamblyn to the cast. She must have a serious enemy in costume, too, because they're doing their best to make her look like crap.
